Question here : If i have Thrummingbird with first strike on it and a bunch of 1/1 arcbounds, if I attack with all, does the Thrummingbird deal its damage first and as a result of it, i put +1/+1 counters on all my arcbounds THEN my arcbounds become 2/2's and do damage or does the counters land on my arcbounds after the combat? If it's first this card is going to be overabused in arcbound decks O_O Btw that's one hell of a nice card. In the bests of SOM atm.
This is one of the cards that makes me wish I had a couple of Fireshriekers

proliferate on a flyer small enough to avoid notice- this isnt generally worth the 2 for a plummet until the n00bs realize its too late :D

Mmmmh yeah. Wish I had 8 of them. Sadly I only have 2. Would be great for when I modify my Infect deck to be a UB proliferate infect deck.

An absolutely awesome card, but, a quick question. Does the combat dealt to Planeswalkers class as Combat damage to a player ? I need a rule buff.
On a lighter note...Venser...Use his Minus 1. Regain 1
It's a 4 of in my Phyrexian B/U Ally deck (One hell of a mouthful).
I demand Proliferate !

This card is a ticking timebomb just waiting for some PTQ player to put together the deck that sets it off.

Creature - Bird Horror Yes, that is one terrifying bird.
I love this in my modular deck. Turn 1, Arcbound Worker; Turn 2, Thrummingbird; Turn 3, Ashnod's Transmogrant and swing. I now have a 3/3 flyer and a 2/2 on 3rd turn that I can use Throne of Geth on turn 4 to make into one 6/6 flyer that only gets bigger every time it attacks. Awesome.

At last. I finally have a way to get The Mind Sculptor and his girlfriend Liliana to climax together. That would be total win.

Seeing this card makes me want to invent mad combos with it, which, to me, makes for a very fun card.
There are many great ideas floating around in this discussion and while I haven't read all of them I would really like to combo this little guy with Venser.
You could make it unblockable without Venser losing any counters, but that would only be decent if there are other cards that require counters present, otherwise you're only really swinging for 1 which isn't all that incredible. But thinking of all the counter madness in SoM I'm sure something could be made of this combo...
Preferably 2+ Thrummingbirds. Then this simple combo will soon power Venser's wonderful ultimate.
Anyway, great card that offers a lot of fun to build around.

In a poison deck (but not strictly speaking), this little guy is a beater. In a Limited SOM draft, I won a whole tourney on the back of this guy and contagion clasp. The irony is funny... it ain't no humming bird! XD

He makes a nice target for Umezawa's Jitte, doesn't he? Attack, get more charge counters than you're supposed to... And yeah, levelers love him. What a cheap way to get those pesky levels up.
I use this in a White/Blue allies build to speed up getting +1/+1 counters on creatures like Kazandu Blademaster, Hada Freeblade, Umara Raptor, Kabira Evangel, and Jwari Shapeshifter.

T1: voltaic key T2: thrumming bird. T3: everflowing chalice with 1 kicker, tap it for another everflowing 1 kicker, attack and proliferate. Both chalices now tap for 2, Tap your untapped chalice and reuse it with voltaic key for your choice of tumble magnet, necrogen censor, grindclock, or chimeric mass. T4: tap your 4 lands and one of the chalices for Contagion Engine. Swing with thrummingbird, proliferate, chalices now tap for 3, your opponents creatures have -2/2. Tap chalice for 3, untap with key and tap again to net 5, then double proliferate with the engine. Opponents creatures get -4/4 total now, your stuff just got 3 counters, moving the chalices into tapping for 5. T5: you've got at least 13 mana open, more if you use key to make mana instead of re-use one of your artifacts. Lux cannon, prototype portal, a really huge chimeric mass... hell, I guess you could even play a blightsteel collossus with that kind of mana.
My proliferate deck gets those first three turns right about half the time, although mostly with just one chalice out. It's a pretty sweet deal.
COMBO WITH EVERFLOWING CHALICE AND TRIGON OF CORRUPTION FOR INSANE AMOUNTS OF CONTROOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!

U/B Proliferate Infect Control wins with this! Thumming Birds, Exoskeletons, Wounds that are virulent, Consciences of the corrupt variety, and little pods that shoot bacteria. So awesome =)
Doesn't see any current standard play. Wait til I finish getting all the cards for my deck. Play with it all the time on C-trice. It beats most tier 1 decks. This is a killer. t1:forest, BoP 2:island/Hinterland Harbor, BoP, Thrummingbird 3:land, Increasing Savagery on Thrummy, swing for 6, it's then a 7/7 4: land(your at 4 lands and 2 BoPs), Test Subject for 4(1 counter), and attack for 7 5:land, tap out except 1 for full subject, swing for 21

I love how the other birds of Phyrexia lose the Horror subtype. They just become part of the natural order. ... And that's the scary part.

If I give this creature double strike, say with Assault Strobe, and it attacks my opponent, is it dealing combat damage to that player once or twice? This may not be the right place to pose this question...

@NickDay creatures with double strike deal damage twice. Once when first strike damage is applied and once when normal damage is applied.

I agree with most of the comments here, but I would like it even if it didn't have one of the sickest combo-enabling abilities in the game. It's bird horror. Lol.

Any tips on a casual proliferate-planeswalker.dec?
Thinking vengeant and vraska builds but theyre both out of color from this beauty sadly. Contagion clasp would be in there too, damn is that card annoying.
Also, id stock these. Mark it, this card will increase in value, both playwise and fiducially.

Pretty nice with Dwarven Armory. A 3/3 flyer that gives itself a permanent +2/+2 every time it hits your opponent? Sign me up! Also could be pretty frustrating with Tangle Wire.

Its a fun card, and has powerful synergy with Ajani Goldmane.
-1 becomes a 2/2 flying vigilance Attacks deals 2 damage and becomes a 3/3 flying vigilance, as well as replenishing a counter on Ajani.

One of the most underrated cards of the set.
we have a dilemma here, too weak a creature to use removal on yet too much a combo enabler to ignore...
