I love it. It makes all your guys invulnerable to removal, while making them very hard to kill in combat. This and Bellowing Tanglewurm will be huge for green decks.

The problem being the five mana cost. Given the effect this enchantment obviously fits into a creature deck. However, there are already creatures big and hard to kill with that price or lower. While the effect is nice, it might not fit the curve and regeneration costs mana also.

This card is awesome! One of the few green cards I'm really excited about in this set. All of your creatures having troll-shroud combined with you being able to pick-and-choose which creature(s) you want to regenerate, for only 5-mana, is one of the best enchantments I've ever seen. Regenerate costs two for each creature, but I believe this ability for only a single G would have been slightly over-powered.
I can see this card doubling in price very soon.

It's a mono-green, creatures-only Privileged Position that adds regenerate. Unfortunately doesn't protect you as much as Privileged Position, but it's easier to run in multicolored decks that don't include white. @Lorendorky: Read the previous sentence again; if you're not playing white, Privileged Position requires three green mana, which is more specific than this; thus this can be run more easily in a multicolor deck that doesn't include white; but if you have white, of course Privileged Position is easy to cast. Not too difficult to understand.

One of the best parts...You can regenerate your opponents creatures, too! Sometimes you just don't want their stuff to die. Great for multiplayer decks, sucks everywhere else. I mean, by itself, it does nothing directly to help you win. Doesn't kill your opponents stuff, doesn't deal damage... It's only useful IF you got creatures that are worth the protection, and IF your opponent has cards that need to target your creatures. Especially the latter one ain't necessarily true. So... good for multiplayer, not so great everywhere else, 3/5.

@BioPrince: Every card and deck has their weaknesses and their answers. Don't downplay a card just because it's only $2 for a playset on E-Bay, that just means it hasn't been broken yet.
I, for one, am going to try this puppy out in my elf deck. Redundant with Ezuri, Renegade Leader? Maybe, but that's what playtesting is for, instead of looking at what the "major arch-types" are and automatically saying (with a trolling attitude) that they're going to beat face without seeing some play first-hand.
I HATE how they call this ability troll shroud. Clearly, it has very little to do with trolls; trolls regenerate. ONE TROLL had this ability, and it wasn't even his troll-ness that did it, it was his own personal Asceticism. GAH.
Also, whoever made the Platnum Angel comment deserves to have every game they play end in a first-turn-draw. Put down the damn angels and play with REAL cards, win with style, dangit.

Everyone here has commented on the affects this enchantment has on the enchantments controllers creatures. What about the opponents??? "Regenerate target creature," could regenerate an opponents creatures as well. Isn't a side affect of regeneration the creature becoming tapped? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks like a very novel way to tap your opponents creatures as well. Broken indeed! 5/5 for me.

The flavour of this card is really interesting to me. Its almost like a creature card (the last troll), but rather than participating in the battle, he is simply watching over your creatures from a distance. This is cool because trolls are supposed to be all but extinct on Mirrodin so having even one troll creature in the set would have seemed like one too many, but the creature type still gets to exist in a subtle way via enchantment instead. So yeah, in a weird sort of way this card's flavour has blurred the line for me between what can constitute a 'creature' and what can constitute an 'enchantment' flavour-wise. The nod to Troll Ascetic only heightens its aesthetic qualities. Line-blurring makes me happy ^_^

Absolutely fantastic enchant for green. While looks like a lot at first, with proper mana ramping this can be on the field turn 3 and still have room for other spells. And - as if troll shroud wasn't enough - it gives the ability to regen ANY creature on the battlefield... for multiple creatures, even! Your strategic beasties and any creature on the battlefield that might hinder your opponent can be kept alive for a pretty low cost.
The art combined with the flavor text is very sad, indeed. But it also makes a very powerful card feel powerful emotionally. The trees and surrounding flora don't seem to display a harsh, "metallic" feel that I would expect from Mirrodin's forest, but that's just a personal opinion. Very nice touch with the lighting and proportions, which adds a serene yet daunting feel.

This would be great, but WoTC emphasized artifact/enchantment hate this set, and frankly, people are still running a lot in sideboards &/or main deck, Nature's Claim is epic in Infect decks for example. If I had a slot open, and I was thinking, "Gee, maybe I need to play a defensive spell in my aggro deck" Then I'd play it. As things stand, Day of Judgment is still out there, & All is Dust is being played even more. Being able to regenerate my dudes is great, but it's at cost, & in the deck this wants played in, I wanted to use that mana for more aggro, draw or control. Not only that, but this hits the board a few turns too late, unless I'm elf ramping it out (Hint Hint, It's great with elves). Don't mistake what I'm saying for me hating this card, on the contrary, it's won me a few games at fnm, but it's also been a dead card in my hand a LOT, because my decks just don't want to use mana for that effect most of the time. I'm still thinking about putting a one-of back into my GW Sun Titan control deck, but the biggest problem-decks out there win by getting big fast, burning you to the face in one turn, or countering everything you play & Nuking your deck with Papa Jace. Other decks are running super-fast aggro/burn strategies that have cut MOST of their removal in favor of speed because there are too many decks out there that removal is dead against. The meta wont support this card guys, even if you or I think it's a great card. Edit: As stated above, this is still good with various elves decks, because those decks Almost Always have extra mana. yes they can deal with the enchantment, but then they have have a spell for this and the creature, so it works pretty well, esp. when, in my playgroup, most people focus on creature removal, and an enchantment just stumps them. don't ask, but hey, i'm the one with naturalizes and no creature removal (my creatures can deal with theirs, but no so much their other permanents)

I don't know why they didn't debut Hexproof with this block. Thrun and this would have been great poster children for it. Since, you know, Wizards has to put the keywords of a set on an enchantment to grant all creatures/spells/etc said ability. Oh, wait... this isn't an overpriced enchantment and is actually playable. Nevermind, what was I thinking?
The reason that Thrun is the "last troll" is because all the others trolls didn't like his house. And he tried to turn them into clones of him.

I'm an all-out offesnive-minded player, but this is one defneseive spell I couldn't pass up. I love this card, but it needs to be errata'd back to it's original wording for 2 reasons. One, it currently makes Muraganda Petroglyphs not work, compared to Veilstone Amulet which does work with the Petroglyphs. And Two, because of the upcoming gatecrash card which nerfs hexproof. I understand that Thrun and like creatures have hexproof because they have an innate ability which does the effect. This is different and should be treated as such. why spirit link doesn't give lifelink.
You can also regenerate your ally's creatures in multiplayer, and even your opponent's if there's a reason to do it!
freak4goofy
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.5/5.0)(2 votes)
I agree with Silent Cacophony. The card reads "Creatures you control can't be the targets of spells or abilities your opponents control." I think the errata and Oracle should be changed back. This ability does not grant Hexproof to all creatures. If this card's ability was thus : Creatures you control have "This creature can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control". Then it would give your creatures hexproof, just when they updated every single creature that had that worded ability. This card just says your creatures have hexproof without GIVING them hexproof. You can't change the errata of the card into a whole different ability. Especially with Glaring Spotlight which negates all instances of hexproof, but Asceticism doesn't give them hexproof as an ability that can be negated. We all know that it's the little subtleties that make this game fascinating and we all know that wording on cards is extremely important in how the cards react together.

see everyone seems to go for the regenerate first, but i almost forget about it, i'm just sitting here playing mycoloth going TERMINATE THIS
yes they can deal with the enchantment, but then they have have a spell for this and the creature, so it works pretty well, esp. when, in my playgroup, most people focus on creature removal, and an enchantment just stumps them. don't ask, but hey, i'm the one with naturalizes and no creature removal (my creatures can deal with theirs, but no so much their other permanents)
yes yes, Privilaged Position also, but i don't happen to have a bunch, and they can't be used in green edh
AND PRIVILAGED POSITION CAN'T BE IN MY KEMBA DECK (frown) Kemba needs some troll shoud but that's all in green
Also spatch, regen taps it if the regen shield is activated, that is to say, if the creature would be destroyed, not right away.
Not that we need specific examples. I'd put this into nearly any green deck I could if I could get enough copies.
EVERYONE IS THRUN.
I don't know why they didn't debut Hexproof with this block. Thrun and this would have been great poster children for it. Since, you know, Wizards has to put the keywords of a set on an enchantment to grant all creatures/spells/etc said ability. Oh, wait... this isn't an overpriced
Also the regenerate applies to every creature on the battlefield, cool multiplayer politics possibilities.
Academy Rector btw makes this more playable than Thrun if the need ever rises in formats where she's legal to make your creature army more BAMF.
Everything you just said was correct. This card, while awesome in it's own right, is very hard to fit into a deck and even harder to play. In the kind of deck that should play this, I'd much rather prefer something cheaper and more aggressive like Lightning Greaves instead.
gotta love that green/black zombie deck with this! Hail to Korlash!!!

1. public shame or disgrace.
"the ignominy of being imprisoned"
The more I play MTG, the more I expand my vocabulary. Good stuff. Sad flavor text.
