Works equally well with fatties and tokens, and grows along with your opponent's creatures. This is the sort of card that has to be answered, or it will bring the game to an end. Too bad Fling isn't in this set...

Is Fungal Sprouting too obvious?

BFFs with Kresh, the Bloodbraided. Doesn't matter if creatures are coming in or going out, somebody's jimmies are getting rustled.

@Trygon_Predator - Fling isn't in THIS set. It was instead put into Dark Ascension, meaning it's going to still be Standard legal AT THE SAME TIME AS THIS DUDE. That is insane.

Personally, I see this guy going into a Green/Red combo deck, because Green has your mana ramp to get this brute out faster, token-spawning cards to make this guy bigger, and its own set of massive beatsticks such as Kalonian Behemoth. Red also happens to have a token card in the same set, though.

I am playing three of them in a red deck, and I am splashing green too. I have four Krenko, Mob Boss, four Goblin Chieftain, four Adaptive Automation, plus two Parallal lives. I have the Chieftain and the Automations to pump the goblins that the mob bosses create, and the parallel lives makes MORE goblins, and the Goliaths just keep getting bigger and bigger. Once I got all three to 126/126!!!

Well, Rancor fixes its one main problem...

Strictly 10x better than Trained Orgg.

Gave the guy 4 stars. With Fling, Fungal Sprouting, Rancor and others, this card is very dangerous. With green mana pump, he comes out much earlier than you might think.

If Hamletback Goliath is in play and then I soulbond it to a Wolfir Silverheart, what power and toughness is the Hamletback Goliath?

This guy can get huge very fast! Give him flying or trample and it is game over.

I thought this was originally from Lorwyn expansion. The Giant, and especially the goblins on his back, looked like Boggarts. The artist Paolo Parente and Brian Snoddy, don't have any new card arts this days, except for this so I thought this is reprinted. Anyway, I also thought this card is expensive, but this really useful, Rush of blood and Fling, then BOOM!!!

_Sethvir_ - If Hammy here is out and you cast the Silverheart, your Hamletback gets the four counters from casting it. If you then soulbond the Silverheart to Hammy, you've got a 14/14 Hamletback (barring any other creatures coming into play).

All I can say is Infinite Reflection.

While he is a bit pricey to get out there I really like putting him in a deck with Domri Rade and Corpsejack Menace.

If you can last against some of the aggro decks and somehow get him out there with some luck and other fatties - wow.

Big if though.

@_Sethvir_- 14/14. The 6/6 Hamletback Goliath gets 4x +1/+1 counters for the entry of Wolfir Silverheart, just like it would for any 4-power creature. It then gets an additional +4/+4(not 4x +1/+1 counters) for the Soulbond mechanic. In the event some counter-removal spell takes effect, it can remove those counters, but not the +4/+4 granted by the Soulbond mechanic. I don't know if you'll read this, but hopefully it helps if you do.

And yes, I'd agree that this should be green, or at least green-red multicoloured.

Just like any big nasty red creature, I'm advocating the use of Assault Strobe, Boros Charm, Double Cleave, or equivalent for Double Strike, and Colossal Might, Fury Charm, or equivalent for Trample. Carry on to strike aggressively until your opponent cries uncle.

Well it could have been played with Ooze Flux for nice creatures that pump it back and a doubling season .
With four counters on it that make 1G two 4/4 oozes than (4+4)x2 counters on him back than two 16/16 oozes for another 1G and back (16+16)x2 counters than for one last 1G two 64/64 oozes and 256 counters back on the giant ... And green is ramping...

That said, my Primeval Hydra would make short work of him!

Look at again. Notice the lack of "under your control". This thing is going to get very big, very fast.
