I know its a fun card to have, but to imagine playing against it...

This could be crazy in 5-color elemental with stuff like Mulldrifter and other evoke cards.

As a compulsive elementalist, this card is so awesome. Always fun to be able to get an elemental (incarnation) in at instant speed to respond :-)

Fricking awesome with Spitebellows, even more-so with Fling. 1R to throw 7 down-field and 6 at a baddie. or use with fling and for 2RR, 7 down field, 6 at a baddie, and 7 to the face.

Amazing card! There are a lot of powerful elementals, and her low cost means that you can pull out some very tough creatures early in the game.

Similar in power potential to the much lauded Master Transmuter , with the added bonus of haste and a boost!

This thing is pretty beefy with the right backup...

I agree that this guy is incredible, but he's such a target. Every time I play him he's either path'ed, doom bladed, bolted, or some other way removed before I can get full use of his ability.

It won't make you sad when the Vengevine you just put onto the battlefield is put into the graveyard at end of turn, knowing it'll return soon.

I'd like to see her with Cauldron of Souls. Use her Ability to shoot an elemental into play, end of turn, sac it, but use Cauldron for Persist so When it leaves play, it comes back. And her +1/+1 To Elementals will make the -1/-1 Counter seem non-existent. Hello Horde of Notions for 2 Cost.

This is the center of so many combos, it's not fair. 5/5

Here is a card.

1RR
Creature- Elemental Beast
Trample

When I play it, it gets killed before I can get in any attacks in with it. I mean, pretty much anything can take it out- Bolt, Path, Doom Blade. It's the biggest target ever. It is therefore useless.

As for our soulstroke here, I have to say that I really liked the elementals in Lorwyn. It's a little unfortunate that pretty much every tribe save Giants and Treefolk stole their thunder (though they fought back with very splashable Evokers), but it's certainly a big enough staple in other sets to deserve a lord (casual fans rejoyce!). I also like the fun things he can get up to by essentially giving all your elementals Flash (the cost reduction is the boring-yet-practical part to me). We've got enough comes-into-play effects and leaves-play-effects to make your elementals play like instants that can also block some creatures or attack while they're at it. With such a diverse group to pick through, this ability unites them surprisingly well.

Not bad at all.

3rd turn: This
4th turn: Nova Chaser, attack, Fling

This card is blatantly powerful. It doesn't even have to be boring - just use cards like Horde of Notions instead of cards that enable you to win outright.

Incandescent Soulstoke, lovingly nicknamed "Candy" while I played a Flamekin deck when it was legal in Standard, is one of the more flavorful Lord cards Wizards has printed. You have the pump, yes, which is a staple. But you have the activated ability to shoot out Elementals at a discounted, hasty speed until the "burn out" at the end of turn. Very aligned with Red's flavor (ephemeral bursts of raw power) as well as Flamekin (passionate, fiery citizens of Lorwyn).

4.5/5 for both utility and flavor. Print more cards like this, Wizards.

Will always adore this guy. My elemental deck with him, Nova Chaser, Supreme Exemplar, Mulldrifter and Shriekmaw and friends was the first batch of cards I ever ordered. Twas teh sh!t.
Functionally, Soulstoke is great without being OP. The art is gorgeous and the elementals of Lorwyn (greater+flamekin) we really cool, and his name is fun to say. This card is so full of win.

Another great lord that passes the tribal lord test- I want to put him in my changeling deck. Splashable, stat boost and cool ability? Check, check and check.

A 8/2 Blistering Firecat for 1R that I would sacrifice anyway? Sure! 8)

Now that AVR is out, I really want to try using the Soulstoke with Hound of Griselbrand. Launch him into play as a 3/3 double strike haste, then he dies and comes back as a 4/4 double strike that sticks on the board!

Such a great cornerstone for elementals. Use Flamekin Harbinger to fetch a Supreme Exemplar, then drop it with the Soulstoke for two mana and attack for 11 in the air. If you champion the harbinger... it'll be back at the end of the turn to grab another exemplar!

That's pretty ham-fisted play, though. In general the soulstoke gives all your guys a cheaper evoke cost and lets them get in an attack, too while they're at it. Of course, it also gives all your harbingers and smokebraiders some teeth. And who cares that you're dropping guys in the graveyard, anyway, when you can drop a hasty 5/4 Reveillark for a turn to bring them back? Though if you're really interested in keeping creatures around, just drop Maelstrom Wanderer. Two mana for an 8/6 with haste and probably two other free creatures that stick around. See if your opponent even lasts long enough for Horde of Notions to replay the wanderer out of your graveyard....

How have I not commented on this yet? Oh well, no matter. Nova Chaser is a nice target, but Supreme Examplar is arguably nicer in a lot of situations. There are a lot of tricks the Soulstoke is capable of, including but not limited to:

- Dropping a champion at instant speed to rescue itself or something else from removal
- Dropping a champion at instant speed in response to an evoke sacrifice, allowing the evoked creature to enter the battlefield twice and stay there
- If you have two, you can drop something with the first one and use the second to champion it
- Fourth turn Nova Chaser + Fatal Frenzy (or Rush of Blood) beat in face.
- Fling the stoked creature, because why not?
- Nevermaker tends to make people angry.
- Surprise Sunflare Shamans late game can be incredibly devastating.

Living Hive, Liege of the Tangle, Dread, Vigor, Guile, Hostility, Purity, Barishi, Morselhoarder, Smokebraider, Hateflayer, Soul of the Harvest (if casting more duder guys), Ashling, the Extinguisher, Doomgape, Thorn Elemental, Tornado Elemental, Cloudthresher, Obsidian Fireheart, Spawnwrithe, Spitemare, Thundermare...etc.

Uncounterable is also considered valuable, like for Stigma Lasher or to bust out Skullbriar, the Walking Grave when they have an opening to get in unblocked and not Fog'd.

Liege of the Tangle

You hit them for 9 trample and get 3-4 9/9s to back you up. You can tutor either side of the combo with Flamekin Harbinger and you can hardcast Liege via Smokebraider by about T4-T6 depending on your other ramp. Makes for a nifty mix between an Aggro and a Combo deck.

His head is exploding with combo possibilities.

Here's one: Use Tidehollow Elemental to untap him and get two activations in your first main phase. For the first activation, put out a gigantic Elemental with a game changing ETB effect; for the second, put out a Nova Chaser, championing the first Elemental.
