Without the right combos, this card can be downright terrible. For example, lets say that the owner of Timbermare plays it and attacks. All creatures are tapped and Timbermare hits for five, then the opponent's turn starts. Now that opponent will have an opportunity to attack, with a board of unblocked creatures, and an irritation at being dealt five points of damage. In that case. the owner of Timbermare would hit the opponent for five only to get trample by their angered opponent. In order to prevent an unfortunate outcome such as that one, the owner of Timbermare should have certain creatures in play the have good synergy with it. Murkfiend Liege and Seedborn Muse are primary examples of creatures that work well with Timbermare. With one of those creatures in the battlefield, Timbermare can attack and the owner of it doesn't have to worry about the negative reparations that occur afterward.

@SavageBrain89: I get your point but this horse is red at heart and doesn't care about much else than dealing 5 damage to the dome in the first place. So if you want a blocker, play it after combat, the usual thing to do. Just 4.0 for the high echo cost.

@SavageBrain89 You're forgetting one thing. This baby costs four mana. That means if you started, and had this in you opening hand, then forth turn you swing in for 5 while you opponent can hit you for 3 or 4 max.

@Volcre You forget that this is Planar Chaos, where green has Gaea's Anthem, Red got an Akroma, blue got Braids, White got Crovax, Ascendant Hero and black got a vampiric Miri. The whole color pie got efed up. Also, this is a timeshift of Thundermare.

Combos well with man-lands, Genju, and anything else that isn't a creature when it comes into play, but get turned into a creature later. Also good with cards that stop creatures from untapping.

@Savagebrain Well if they are ***ed and attack you all out, you're prolly better off becuase you can race them with a 5/5 turn 4. Plus you have green cards like giant growth or gaea's anthem. Eventually they'll realize their dumb.

Is this were red... it would be 4.5/5. A serious contender to Ball Lightning.
5 damage straight to an opponent's face for four mana. The only problem is that the opponents creatures will untap first. Maybe if combined with Stasis or somesuch...

BETTER than Thundermare! Especially around green pumps. Primal Bellows with the 2 mana you dind't have to spend on Thundermare.

Undying Evil is a splendid card to respond to Echo triggers in general, but this particular stallion might be the best one of them all. Cast Timbermare and hit for 5. During the upkeep, cast Undying Evil and make Timermare return (by not paying echo) as 6/6. Now you're going to hit for 6 and still got mana to cast something (untapped) for the remaining amount of mana - maybe even another creature with haste (except for another Timbermare). Of course, if you want to keep your 6/6 horsey next turn, you'll have to pay the upkeep cost this time. Unless you use Cauldron of Souls or something.

The Equestrian answer to those pesky Timber Wolves.
Quite frankly, nobody's going to pay this massive echo cost, green has much better stuff than vanilla 5/5 (which is what this card becomes immediately after the first turn when its thunder is spent). Furthermore if your opponent lives through the attack, he will curbstomp you while every single creature you have is tapped out.
It's a finisher, something you slap Berserk or Primal Bellow on to bitchslap your opponent for the win.

I've seen this card used to interesting effect in Exalted decks. In a casual multiplayer game, you might chill and play some exalted cards, and if you get to five of them, one of which is Rafiq of the Many, Timbermare can hit for 20.
Boom, Green Haste deck that will be brutalizing your opponent.

I need to find a copy of this for The Mimeoplasm. Suddenly club someone over the head with a nice fat creature? Sounds good!

Did anyone actually look at this card?! Jeez! This is the best nonred Planeswalker removal I've ever seen! This is almost on level with Thundermaw Hellkite!

In my EDH deck I have numerous ways to play creatures on my opponents turn. It's good enough as is but flashing it in at the end of your opponent's turn makes it just so much better.

This card wins games in aggressive decks. When your opponent creates a board state that stabilizes against an aggressive early game, playing this both surprises them and finishes them off. Rarely does it matter that it taps your creatures too, because you can usually just play a cheap chump blocker or two after you cast this, but that also rarely matters, since I almost always win when playing this late game. 4/5.

Here's a fun little trick: Combine with Yeva to make a flashy 5/5 that taps your opponents' creatures down.

My friend runs this with silverblade paladin in his blink deck. 10 hasty damage, plus 10 more when you cloudshift in response to the echo.
