A balanced spin on Primordial Sage. Doesn't get you cards if the creature spell is countered, but he's much better at attacking. Also, dat art.

Green is getting some great creature-based card draw, between this and Primordial Sage. The difference between the two being that, even without the card draw, Soul of the Harvest is still a reliable 6/6 trampler for (compare to Craw Wurm, for instance), and that Primordial Sage triggers even if the spell is countered. Why not run both? Also consider Harvester of Souls, which is the counterpart of the elemental. To hit the jackpot, run with Skullclamp and Fecundity.

This is a classic trope: Giant terrifying yet misunderstood gentle monster who tenderly embraces pigeons with an outstretched claw.

Actually it's debatable as to whether primordial sage is better at drawing cards.
While primordial sage draws you cards even if the spell is countered. Where as this nets you cards even if they enter the battlefield via alternative means.
For example if you have this in play along with two strangleroot geists (without counters mind) and a slagstorm resolves your up two cards because two non-token critters just hit the board. It also works with flicker effects such as cloudshift and things such as elvish piper and quicksilver amulet.
Taking into account that and the fact that this has 2 more power and trample, imply this one is better. Although both of them are good for sure.

After Wurmcoil and the titans rotate, this will be one of the best 6-drops in Standard, along with its opposite, Harvester of Souls. It will be interesting to see if they get played.

Anyone notice all the full of "mirror" cards in this set:
I'm sure there are more, but even 6 is a lot. (Also, I am disappointed that only the scrolls got mirrored flavor texts, although I love the mirror in the names of "Soul of the Harvest" and "Harvester of Souls")

This card is so overpowered for 6 cmc; especially in limited, because of all the Flickering and undying going on.

Cantripping fatties that synchronize with elves? Sign me up. Wizards treated green very nicely with AVR.

I'm loving the efficient body this thing has, but you should compare this to Garruk's Packleader. The ability to trigger on token creatures is huge, especially with Nacatl War-Pride. Furthermore, the cheaper packleader curves to the War-Pride better.

@blindthrall: I don't get it. What exactly has this card got to do with Adenosine Triphosphate?

...It's a tale as old as time, amiright?
Anyway, back to the card...this, along with Harvester of Souls, might make a Birthing Pod aggro deck viable, what with all the undying cards out there.

So... Question. In a multiplayer game I genesis wave'd into this and about 8 other creatures (whole point of the deck was to genesis wave a win out of no where). Now, I know all permanents see each other as the ETB. I argued that Soul of the Harvest's triggered ability should trigger for the other 8 creatures as it sees the other creatures come in to play with it. The other players said that it would only work if it was in play BEFORE the others. I figured Soul's ability worked like any other ETB but for other creatures only. Could someone much more experienced then me clarify? Thanks.
I love any card that makes Cloudshift just a little bit better.

Amazing card - a beater with plenty of card advantage built in.

Though I do like the 6/6 trample body, I'd still prefer to run Garruk's packleader over this thing. The ability to trigger with tokens is just to good to pass up, especially with Return to ravnica. It's still a spectacular card, But i'm sticking with the pack. 4/5

I love this card with the use of Genesis Wave and after Genesis Wave resolves play one drop elves for even more cards!

Works well with Melira, Sylvok Outcast and creatures with persist. Similarly, creatures with undying and something like Sage of Fables to get the +1/+1 counters off.

Glimpse of Nature on legs. Absurd in multiples, (which isn't uncommon to draw into a second copy off of just Arbor Elf and Avacyn's Pilgrims) at which point you can just draw your whole deck. I play 4 in my big mana green deck, just play it, seriously, just play it. Works well w/ Restoration Angel & Cloudshift and even just a good beater to just play on turn 3. At first I was not sure of how good this guy was, this guy is absurdly busted. I put 2 reliquary tower in my deck due to how much card advantage i lose from having to discard at the end step. With this card in my standard deck, I have come close to just decking myself (like within dream twist range) by drawing my whole deck off of him.
5/5 Absurdly underrated, if you untap w/ him you sort of just win. It's how I fight through Supreme Verdict.

Not sure how to rate him yet. I do like that it's "Whenever a creature enters the battlefield" and not "whe ever you cast creature spell"l like the mentioned Primordial Sage. Means he could be useful in a Recurring Nightmare deck..hmmm...

Errr how is this less than 4/5 stars? It's a 6/6 trampler for 6, with CARD ADVANTAGE, and no down side. People are so spoiled.
Anyway, this one is a cornerstone fatty in my Sages of the Anima deck. With those two out for a turn or two, I can drop a Myojin of Life's Web and flood the board with game-ending fatties. So. Satisfying.

Oh my goodness! I have a budget EDH Animar, Soul of Elements deck... This guy would be amazing and he's definitely budget friendly!
I can't help but think this guy would be amazing in any Animar deck... For Animar, he's better than Primordial Sage seeing as how flicker/bounce effects like Shrieking Drake or Faerie Impostor work so well with Animar. But run both anyway!

Harvester of Souls//Soul of the Harvest
Triumph of Cruelty//Triumph of Ferocity
Searchlight Geist//Moonlight Geist
Tormentor's Trident//Vanguard's Shield
Scroll of Griselbrand//Scroll of Avacyn
Mental Agony//Angel's Mercy (It's in the art)
