This card is a lot of fun to play. The only time I felt bad about it having the Whenever a creature deals damage to you, destroy it ability was when my opponent used a Traitor's Roar on it.

Nice card, No Mercy is a 2BB enchantment with the ability of destroying creatures that damage you. This is a great creature version and worth the 2 extra mana to cast.

especially since it is a 6/6 and has fear

An Excellent card, a 6/6 with Fear for 6 mana by itself would be fairly good, but with the ability it's one of my favorite cards.

No Mercy plus a 6/6 fatty with fear for 6 mana. This card will kill all creatures except those that are indestructible. This is evil!!!

Dang, this card is like teetering onto mythic rare status... The casting cost pays for its stats alone, then you put Fear, an awesome kill everything that touches you ability, AND it goes back to your library instead of dying?? Das crazy talk

"Whenever a creature deals damage to you, destroy it."

Hey all, I am looking for clarification on this part of the text. By "you" I am assuming that if a card damages me the player...is this correct?

Thanks

I absolutely love this card. My mono-black strategy is to get a few royal assassins out, and then to get this one out when I can, maybe after putting out a nightmare that is. Total creature destruction! Works well with Prince of Thralls too.

This thing is broken beyond all reckoning, like most of the sets from Lorwyn forward.

@FragNutMK1

Just because the new sets offer new possibilities doesn't make them "broken". Remember where the banned/restricted cards come from...

A 6/6 fear for 6 CMC is enough already. A BIT overpowered.

I love this thing. Your opponent is most likely screwed if he can't exile this.

@Belz_ - I gotta agree with FragNutMK1. I built a ton of decks pre Lorwyn and have played for years, and yes, if things came out right on certain decks I could obliterate people in just a few turns, but that was rare, normally that was when the stars aligned. Now I have a Lorwyn rogue deck that pretty much no matter what, I can kill an opponent in 4-5 turns.

It's not that each individual card is broken, but the synergy between them is out of control...

@Nethriel:
By you, they mean the player. But in the case of Dread, they mean your actual human body. Because Dread wants your soul...

Imagine just how scared you'd be if this descened from the sky upon you, that art is amazing, it looks so incredibly gargantuan and scary, that "fear" is rightly placed.

@ Spirit of Blue

White Knight and Commander Eesha aren't exempt from Dread's ability. "Protection from X" specifically means "can't be targeted, enchanted, equipped, blocked or dealt damage by anything X", and since Dread's effect involves none of those things, protection doesn't stop Dread from killing them. You'll have to remove Dread somehow or use indestructible creatures to get around it.

Anyway, I'm generally not too attracted to black, but the sheer amount of dark power on this card is quite tempting.

First time I played this, I shuffled it into my library (after a good run, turning the tide in my favor), and got it again on my next pickup. Dread. Perfect flavor.

My only complaint about this card:
Almost every time I play this card, the art messes me up.
For whatever reason, I get "Fear" confused with "Flying".
No matter which, though, this card is boss.

So, it has UBER-deathtouch, Fear, and is the scariest-looking monster thing ever?
Oh, and it looks exactly like Parallax. My username. Yeah....

This card is clearly breaking the color pie-- it should be Yellow, for the Sinestro Corps. They should make Yellow a color just for this card, that's how much this needs to be Yellow. I'm going to get 5 of them, 4 for my decks, plus 1 to alter and make Yellow.

I felt so stupid when I first say this card because I mixed the word "a" with "this", so it read, "when this creature deals damage to you, destroy it."
Man was I confused anyways looks great 5/5 and definitely the scariest creature type I have ever seen

I know it might sound odd, but I wonder if WotC might consider changing the Fear to Intimidate if they ever decide to put the Incarnations in a core set (who would YOU rather see at mythic--Incarnations, or Titans?), in order to go with the current methodology? It's not quite as unprecedented as it sounds to make a light tweak like that--q.v. Flying Carpet and Tawnos's Wand.

Thanks EccO, that puts things into perspective, and gives us a good comparison. A 6/6 with evasion in black is stellar, but also having a 4CMC enchantment glued to his mug just makes it stupendous. 4.5/5

@DarthParallax:

Your excitement for this card made me absolutely love it.

For me, it's those centipedes... They've always freaked me out, and gigantic neon green ones certainly do the trick. This again is why Fear will always fit better than Intimidate. Many tears were shed when fear was replaced.

Such an awesome card, yet it's inability to stay in a graveyard makes it not work with Horde of Notions EDH deck. Not to mention it's 3B

Got a mono black EDH deck with this, Yixlid Jailer and Dread Return. Aww yeah!

@SkyKnightXi: Fear has a completely different way of functioning than intimidate. Fear makes the creature unable to be blocked by black creatures and/or artifact creatures no matter what the colour of the creature is. Intimidate is dependent on the colour of the creature with the ability. So, no such a "tweak" would not be possible, though I agree that I would prefer this cycle over the Titans.

A 6/6 with evasion and built in No Mercy that returns to your library upon destruction. And if that weren't enough, it also has some terrific artwork.
What's not to love?

No Mercy costs {2}{B}{B}. That means you pay {1}{B} for an added 6/6 body with evasion.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

I like No Mercy better. A lot more decks pack more creature removal then enchantment, so no mercy has a stronger chance of locking down your opponent until you amass your winning board position.

Dread: Guile's brother from another mother. Seriously they both are bad-ass and are great in my deck together and keep coming back for more!

I don't know if this is common knowledge and I just realized this cause I'm an idiot, but this creature is a mix of all the most quintessentially "scary" creatures. Most of its body is a snake. it has the form and legs of a spider, it has wasp-like stingers jutting out, and there are a few centipedes for good measure.
Awesome card, awesome art. I love the perspective, it looks like you're looking up at it as it's about to fall on you and eat your legs. Or something.
