It's cheap red cantrip with a little damage if necessary. .. a niche card, but not bad by any means.

@ Duckie: I'm pretty sure if no target was damaged beforehand, you can't cast this spell.

I like the flavor on this card; other than that it's not great.

Haha, past me says this, and yet I have a deck that LOVES these. It's full of one-drop burn spells, and Pyromancer's Swaths. (and mindstorm crowns, so yes I actually can play them.)

Red players may like to draw cards, but if it's that important to them they'll be running cards like Harmonize.

If you're playing Pyromancer Ascension, you'll generally be packing a pile of damage spells anyway. When this gets copied by the Ascension, you get 2 cards and 2 damage for R. Even better if one of the cards you draw is another copy of this.

Panic is better in a red deck playing a lot of creatures like Hellspark Elemental and Keldon Marauders which you will want to see connect. Panic will deal more damage during a game for you then Needle Drop ever will.

Just based off artwork, flavor, and such, I think it should have been "Deal 1 damage to target creature without flying." Or something along those lines. Granted, it's a giant in the art, so it's probably excusable, and it's still a good card.

Lorwyn cards always seemed to have underwhelming names to cards with decent abilities.

Maybe it's because Kithkin's are half dwarf, half elf (or so I was told), or maybe it's because WotC said, "screw it!".

Regardless, i was going to comment about how a volatile and explosive Ball Lightning can be killed by a small puny needle, but the flavour and the art tell that it's a Giant's needle...

Which, now that I think of it, reminds me of that scene from The Omen where the priest is out near that church and is impaled...

This is underrated. My friend uses this with Guttersnipe and a handful of other low-mana, high damage red spells. It's a mess, it beats a lot of excellent decks just by doing 20 damage in around 4 turns. There are plenty of things which trigger when you play an instant or sorcery which make this 100% worth it.
