This card isnt the best card, but its a fun card in a casual deck or a big multiplayer game. A fun strategy to use this card in a casual deck is to use mana ramp spells to lay out your lands fast, then you can use cards like entomb to put realm razer into your graveyard. You then tap all you lands to float your mana, play a spell similar to reanimate targeting realm razer, then with your remaining mana cast this enchantment and then you can choose to use realm razer as a beat stick or sacrifice foder to get your lands back thus by pass this cards weak point. not the best mana accelerant but a fun combo card

It is NOT an additional cost.

So that means you can Stifle (or similar) that bit.

Don't forget, it turns pain lands, fetch lands, colourless lands and so on into coloured mana producers.

Combo with Overgrown Estate, although admittedly, {W}{B}{G} is a pretty uncommon color combo. Could also use Zuran Orb. Tap your lands for mana, sac them for life, then play this.

I save it in my hand until I can also cast balance. Still, not the best card.

It's rating is kind of dissapointing. Makes me wonder, why isn't anybody playing Squandered Resources anymore? Although it was abused it's still good especially with this card.

@mode
it says "as overlaid terrain comes into play, sacrifice all lands you control."

that is not additional cost wording

you're thinking of something along the lines of Goblin Grenade or Harrow. those specifically say "as an additional cost."

this is more of a triggered ability, so it's possible you could beat it using Sundial of the Infinite

im suprised no one mentioned second sunrise, float 7 mana, play this, sac lands followed with second sunrise and puff you got 14 mana!

I think I'd use Teferi's Realm to phase my lands out.. with I guess Omnath, Locus of Mana to float some to cast it.

Unplayable?
I run four of these in a mono-green mana ramp deck and can Genesis Wave for 40 turn 4. This card is a lot like death pit offering, in my opinion. You get out three llanowar elves and an exploration (Or Burgeoning, Sakura-tribe scout, whatever). Then you play this, wipe your lands, and also have a life from the loam in hand or a crucible of worlds in play, and play 2-4 lands. Easy.
I run a playset of these, (foil) and if ANYONE challenges me on the playablility of this card, post it.

Still, it's not a trigger, I think.
It says "As this enters the battlefield," rather than "when." It won't go on the stack, similar to how Meddling Mage's card naming ability doesn't use the stack and can't be responded to. You'll never even be able to float your doubled mana before your lands go away, let alone stifle the trigger.

A pretty unique ability and broken with the right cards. 3.5/5

Works really well in G/W decks that have instants that bring cards sent to the greave yard back. If you play with a Sol Ring and Pearl Medallion, you can play it turn for with Second Sunrise, and have 8 mana, plus 2 colorless plus all white spells cost one colorless less to play. Massive mana advantage. You can summon the biggest white beaters in the game turn 5. Works really well in multi-player.

Second Sunrise?

This card is currently a bit underrated in my opinion.
It's in fact rather unplayable in general, but this card has interesting combo potential.
You could for example get some mana accel to play this card earlier, or Crucible of Worlds combined with effects that let you put more lands into play, like Exploration.
Or, possibly even better:

/edit note: I wrote nonsense here /
Put it into play without being required to pay its cost and evade the entire drawback. Take a close look at this card: as opposed to most cards with such an devasting drawback, it doesn't trigger when the card enters, it's an additional cost instead.
Therefore you can put it into play with cards like Academy Rector, Show and Tell, Wargate, Replenish, Reweave, Lost Auramancers, Gate to the Æther,
Hypergenesis, Eureka, Warp World or Open the Vaults.
The latter cards, especially Open the Vaults, might be not that adviceable if you only want to put that card into play.
What a pity Zur the Enchanter can't fetch this card :/

/ Misinformed nonsense end /

Edit (since 2009):
Silly me.
I somehow misread the card "As additional cost to play Overlaid Terrain, sacrifice all lands you control."
Sorry for the messup!

Still, I got another gamble for those of you who like to try weird stuff: Try ramping into this on turn two with Orcish Lumberjack by saccing a Taiga or Stomping Ground, then you won't have to sacrifice any lands when it enters, and still get to play your second land which immediately produces two mana of any color.
Combine that with the stuff I said above years ago (before the BS-paragraph which I kept for reference),
and you have a fun gimmick deck.
