The foil on this card is absolutely incredible. Depending on the angle it can either be rainbow or a sleek flat silver. Not to mention it is also the art on the awesome foil deck box.

You'd think they might change the art of this by now. Truthfully, I'm not a huge fan of it, but it is a very... black... design. Just looking at the stretched skin gives me goosebumps... brrrrr!

This card is rated lower than 5 stars? Someone has not yet earned death. Fix your vote now, and I just might let you die. If you're lucky.

This card is absolutely insane. The life is nothing to pay if you can get a creature who single handedly can win you the game, perhaps even on turn 2. Turn 1 if dark ritual is involved.

I say, let them eat cake.

Opening hand with this, one swamp, and Emrakul or other big nasty like Blightsteel colossus. Turn one, don't play anything, discard the biggie, Second turn, pull the biggie, third turn wreck face. True, if they hit you for 5 by the end of the 3rd turn you're screwed, but barring that, it would work.

Umm, good luck with plan, bparx, considering BOTH of those won't be in your graveyard when you try get them...

Yes to Blightsteel, no to Emrakul. Check him out, if he hits the graveyard, you shuffle him back into your library. You need cards that are fatties that will stay in the graveyard (so no Progenitus, either). I recommend Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur and Sphinx of the Steel Wind.

If the life cost is getting you down, just reanimate a Pelakka Wurm!

Emrakul seems to be a popular target for this, which is interesting, since he never is in a graveyard long enough to be reanimated. Proves that your games are so casual that no one actually reads the cards, that you didn't think your strategy through all the way before posting it, or that you lied about your "I did this amazing thing in this game once" story.

@atemu1234 I'm pretty sure this story is either untrue or you didn't read the card right, mostly because Emrakul's last triggered ability makes this impossible.
From Emrakul's text:
"When Emrakul is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library."

You go second. Draw a card. Play no land. Discard griselbrand.
'Course, a well-placed murder makes that 1 turn behind, 7 life down, and 1 card disadvantage, but Griselbrand can negate that with his ability if you really felt like it.
(Other cards in my deck are, Putrid Imp, Rune-Scarred Demon, Buried Alive, oh and It That Betrays so when they sac their creatures with Sheoldred I steal them :)

Sad that Griselbrand is banned in EDH? Don't fret! Rune-Scarred Demon is perfect fodder for this and for all the Clone effects you can spam!
in G/B you can reanimate Obstinate Baloth for nothing. Not a bad play if you get desperate against heavy removal.
I mostly like this for nabbing opponent's creatures; as there are plenty of "better" spells for getting your own creatures, depending on cost, whether you need haste, repeatability, etc..
This is great however for either getting cheap creatures, game-winning creatures (inferno titan can plop 12 damage if you haste it), or an opponent's game-winner/beatstick into play.
Goyf is my favorite target for it. 2 damage + {B} = a 5/6 or so. Not a bad play :)
Blackest flavor of all time. The way I see it, this kind of reanimation is so painful and unholy that the creature wants to remain dead, and tries to kill you through sheer hatred for bringing it back. And of course the black mage doesn't care since the effect is so powerful. The art and the quote work so well together too.
"You will learn to earn death." Your opponent gets it for free.
My favorite part of reanimate is that it can fetch guys from your opponents graveyards. There's nothing better than making them discard a fatty and them beating them to death with it.

Next turn, Swamp, Reanimate, Griselbrand.

Swamp, Dark Ritual, Entomb, Reanimate
Other good options would be Exhume, or Animate Dead of course, built a deck around these and some other cards and Sheoldred, Whispering One
