Japanese mythology has some really surreal stuff. We should actually appreciate how much research Wizards did into the aesthetic for Kamigawa, they really showed their work. This card's art was likely based on the legend of a harvest goddess who literally puked and defecated food. Susanooh killed her in disgust, for the record.

I think Hana Kami could make it into the Core Set if the Arcane subtype can. :)
We wouldn't necessarily get Splice in such a Core Set, but this is a very Solid, basic Design. :)
