Kev Walker proving once more that he is the best artist in MtG. Go on, argue with me.

What else is there to say? It's Arcbound Ravager! Fear it!

Every time Kev Walker has to draw a myr, it's a damn masterpiece. The little myr about to be devoured by the ravager is a great touch, and super cool. I want one of these for my cube very badly.

Obscene power AND incredible art? I can't rate this less than a 5/5.

WOW!!!!!!

this, now, a RARE, instead of a Foil Mythic like Maze of Ith, in an actual draft set so you can get it Foil for Bling OR Non Foil for Cheap, making it THE STRICTLY BEST Reprint in M:TG history and it STILL lost it's 5/5 on Gatherer?

Go to hell, internet -_- You don't deserve Kev Walker artworks. :'(

Anyone complaining about devalued collections Or about overpriced MM booster packs: This could have been a Mythic, or it could have been Not In MM and it would slowly creep out of range as casual demand makes it impossible for casual players to afford, and then as more and more cards get on the 'not reserved but we still aren't giving it to you' list, Magic just dies a sad death because Legacy, Vintage, and Modern become Proxy-only Formats.

Or, what actually happened, which was this.
This is the biggest birthday present of Magic's 20 Year Anniversary, unless Jace is in FTV: 20..

Dredge, Affinity, and Storm are the most broken mechanics of All Get Out, and within a year we've had a Non-Mythic Golgari Grave-Troll, a Non-Mythic Arcbound Ravager, and a Non-Mythic Dragonstorm. And the Fetchlands and Shocklands are still valuable investments but more affordable than Beta Duals by an extravagantly good deal for such functional interchangeability. WOTC cares. WOTCS cares A LOT. Say No to WOTC-haters.

Amazing artwork, and a bit more Beast-like than the original.
It absolutely looks like something with the potential to grow ridiculously large,
and just as intimidating and powerful as you'd expect a creature that has "Ravager" in its name to be.

I'm still not sure if i like it more than the old artwork though, since that one looks a tad more more unique.
(Though this one is immediately recognizable as well.)
For some odd reason i also always found that one to look a bit like it'd be something that belongs to the Bionicle series.
Must have been those round, shield-like claws.

Mode: I always read "Arcbound" as "This card's type is Artifact Creature-Bionicle" to be honest ;)

Hmm. Is its ruling obsolete?

420.5n: If a permanent has both a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter on it, N +1/+1 and N -1/-1 counters are removed from it, where N is the smaller of the number of +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on it.

In other words, getting -1/-1 counters would remove that many +1/+1 counters. Did they make a mistake, or is this some crazy rules interaction thanks to Modular?

Kev Walker outdoes himself once again. Easily one of my favourite MTG artists, alongside Chan, Chippy and Giancola.

It's funny because even now, reading his abilities does not strike me as OP, even though I know this card is really powerful. It's only because they work so well with other cards, and that modular basically makes killing him pointless.

The new art is definitely good. He actually looks likes a monster now.

Actually, the big artifact creature in the art isn't the actual Arcbound Ravager. It's that little myr off to the left. It's just biding its time.

Just kidding. This art is absolutely sick, and this is one of my favorite cards (obviously I'm an Affinity player).

Holy crud, that's Mythic art if I ever saw it, and Ravager ain't one. For some reason though, the art reminds me of something, and I can't put my finger on it. Energy beings wearing armor...I keep thinking Bionicle for some reason?

ARE YOU GONNA ARGUE WITH ME, LITTLE MYR? GET INSIDE ME AND MAKE A 1/1 COUNTER!!!!!!!

I liked the old art, purely for the irrational feeling that the two claws next to the head were actually wheels and that Ravager here was a trundling, munching tank thing. But this art is still beautiful and striking.

I want to combo Modular extremely hard with Corpsejack Menace now.

@Totema: That's how +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters always interact, and it's been that way for quite a while.

The thing I like about this is that the art depicts what a 20/20 Ravager looks like after it nom'ed all of your Great Furnace's, Ornithopter's, Frogmite's, and Memnite's. Also known as it's primary use.

In non-competitive formats (EDH particularly), this acts as a Greater Gargodon. Someone Naturalize's your Sol Ring?
Well, first you say "Well F**K you, you a-hole. You know what? I was thinking of using my Wrath of God for when my friend next to me plays Kaalia of the Vast. But since you think having an additional 2 mana in my mana pool will make me less of a threat, you've just become 'that guy'. I'm now going to focus all of my energy and effort on you. Let it be known that once you are dead, I will concede. Oh and by the way, I have an Iona, Shield of Emeria in my hand. I wasn't going to play it since it's such a buzz-kill in EDH, but now you've forced my hand. Oh? You're only playing Green? Absolutely delicious...",
... and then you sacrifice the Sol Ring to Ravager.

Reasons why this card is stupid (in the best possible way):
1. Its ability is free, non-tap, and instant, so you can use it the turn it hits the field.
2. It drops for two colorless. Two freaking colorless.
3. Its ability is free, non-tap, and instant, meaning you can use it the in response to a kill spell (or any spell really).
4. It can sac itself.
5. Its ability is free, non-tap, and instant, meaning you can sac things that want to be sacced (like Myr Retriever or something else with modular).
6. Drew into a Mox Opal when you already have one out? Float the mana, sac it, then play the other one.
7. Its ability is free, non-tap, and instant, making for crazy combat tricks. Shift all your power to the unblocked attacker, or put the counters on Blinkmoth Nexus or Ichorclaw Myr if you want to lose friends.
8. It says "Sacrifice an artifact." Not "artifact creature", not "another artifact", just "artifact."
9. Its ability is free, non-tap, and instant. I think I mentioned that already, though.

Yeah. 6/5.

whoa whoa whoa, wait a second... THIS THING'S A BEAST?

I've had the Darksteel ones that don't give a creature type I never had a clue... I thought they were constructs or something.

@Ferlord: Stop being such a kid and taking EDH so seriously and being a whiner. It's supposed to be a fun format and people like you who whine when they're losing are pathetic. Also, if you run mean cards like Iona, people will Naturalise your sol rings all day. I certainly would. You're the sort of person nobody wants to play with.

Arcbound Ravager can allow turn 3 wins in Modern with a bit of luck:

Opening Hand: 3x Memnite/Ornithopter, Inkmoth Nexus, Arcbound Ravager, Mox Opal, Darksteel Citadel

Turn 1: Play all of the zero cost artifact creatures, followed by Inkmoth Nexus into Mox Opal into Arcbound Ravager.

Turn 2: Play Darksteel Citadel, use it to activate Inkmoth Nexus and attack. Sacrifice all your artifacts except for the Inkmoth Nexus and Darksteel Citadel to Arcbound Ravager, then sacrifice Arcbound Ravager to put at least five (if you drew an additional 1 mana artifact to cast with Mox Opal, cast and sacrifice that as well if you'd like) +1/+1 counters on the Inkmoth Nexus to get your opponent to at least 6 poison counters.

Turn 3: Use Darksteel Citadel to activate Inkmoth Nexus and swing your opponent up to at least 12 poison counters.

What a sweet card.
