This might work well on a utility creature (llanowar elves, blinding mage, merfolk looter) that fills a purpose in the early game, but wants to fight as the game advances into the fifth or sixth turn. Otherwise, just sitting and not doing anything seems like a steep price for the counters.

This with Fertilid, that's all I got to say. With this in mind you can surely think of more interesting ways to use this card differently.
You could put this on a sacred wolf... but have you ever heard of a wolf in a cocoon? I thought not...

Horrible card... First it's an aura, and most auras are bad because they are likely to cause you card disadvantage. Second, it's incredibly slow. It does absolutely nothing for the first turn, and then very very slowly the creature grows, and in most cases you can't do anything with the creature bcause you lose the cocoon if you attack or block. If I want to distribute +1/+1 counters, then I use forgotten ancient or something, that gives you dozens of counters each turn on any creatures you like, even with shroud, whlie beeing able to attack or block itself as well.

it should have been.. Primal Cocoon, G, Aura, Enchanted creature cannot attack or block. At the beginning of your upkeep, put a +1/+1 counter on enchanted creature. When Primal Cocoon is destroyed, enchanted creature gains flying. Totem armor.

I'm giving this a 5 just because it made people fear my 5/6 Birds of Paradise at the prerelease.

Eternal_Blue: Only problem with your version is that you would have to get the coccoon destroyed somehow to get the creature to be usable again.
This also would have been more interesting as: On ETB, exile a creature you control. On your upkeep, put a growth counter on the coccoon. Sacrifice the coccoon: Return the exiled creature to play with X +1/+1 counters on it, where X is the number of growth counters the coccoon had.

I feel like they missed a chance to make this card more flavourful and less sucky. The aforementioned flying post cocoon stage is one way.
If the enchantment gave shroud it would be flavourful of a cocoon and really give some strategic playability to the card. For as long as you leave the cocoon on the creature they can't target it but you can't attack. The moment they choose not to leave open mana to burn/bounce/exile your cocooned creature, sac the enchantment and get at least one turn to attack with your creature. Probably still not constructed worthy but still better than this.

Watched someone drop this on a ornithopter turn one. It was pretty hilarious.

Player 1 : I'll go first. I'll play Ornithopter and attach Primal Cocoon to it and say go. Player 2 : WTF?!?!
yeah, it would have been nice if they'd included some of the old Cocoon flavor (i.e. the flying post-cocoon) or something. still, this is pretty rock. just drop your Joraga Warcaller and put this on it, first/second turn, no need to bother with the multikicking. start out your game strong.
On Spike Weaver, or any spike for that matter. Forgotten Ancient could also help spread the counters around. Works well with Plaxcaster Frog as well, mmm...I smell a +1/+1 counter deck.

@Kirbster: Nice find. Funny how it has colorshifted.
Pretty useful early spell for 1. I slap it on a Llanowar Elf, Birds of Paradise, Kazandu Tuskcaller, etc. By the time you stop needing to tap it, it becomes a decent blocker at 5/5 or 6/6.

Works wonders in a proliferate infect deck. Actually only needs to stick on one counter before you can start proliferating your ichorclaw myr (or whichever one you choose) to timmyness

5/5 for being an awesome Timmy card while also giving Johnny a new toy :)
Not to mention, it's very elegant. Good job Wizards!
Better than most Auras, since it's effects can be felt after the Aura is destroyed.

This is ACTUALLY a common that I can see someone build a deck around. Well, sort of. This baby has loads of potential, It just needs a bit of intricate thought and precise card selection...

Since its a common aura in m12, ill give this a 3/5 for being interesting and different for new players. Playability this thing is a 1/5 tho, and needs to give the creature hexproof. I know you could just put it on Sacred Wolf, but its just way to dang slow. If it gave hexproof at least I could put it on any creature without worry of spot removal.

Because it hasn't been said before, Spikeshot Elder can make good use of this.
