Black doesn't need to be put back in line with other colors. After Zendikar it's pretty strong. I'm not sure why they favored Black and White with the Smiths, though.

I don't get it. It got possibly best ability in cycle (in world of infect every +Power matters) and deathtouch is good by himself). And without need to waste mana. Compare it to Lifesmith...BORKEN!. Or is it way to bring black in line with other colors?
Edit: alright, now i got it. You need to attack with that creature, or all that artifact citp shenanigans are in vain. So it's actually on par with other 'smiths (except for Lifesmith, that one still sucks balls in almost any comparisons)

I like running Glaze Fiend next to her. Sort of like a double Fiend effect for every 0-drop artifact I cast... Memnite, get over here.

a fun conditional combo with ethersworn shieldmage. Flash in for a surprise 4/2 block with deathtouch and damage prevention so he can live to be bounced back out by Esperzoa or something.

Turn 2 Painsmith, turn 3 Viridian Claw. Swing with a 5/1 first strike, deathtouch. Or a 6/1 first strike, deathtouch if you play Goblin Gaveleer first turn.

Question: If you have a Painsmith out, and throw down 2 artifacts, would Painsmith's ability double, adding plus 4 damage to target? What about if you had 2 Painsmiths out, would you be able to add plus 4 to target in that case?

@DacenOctavio By that reasoning along, green is terrible in constructed as well. Not to mention Blue (Sword of Body and Mind) and White or Red (Sword of War and Peace). All the Swords are good stuff in constructed and all see use. Sure black and green get it the worst since they're on more than one sword, but it's not enough to make either terrible in constructed; at least on their own.

As far as this card goes, I love it in a RB artifact deck. Combine her with Onyx Mage, Ashmouth Hound, Embersmith, Fallen Ferromancer, and Olivia Voldaren and you have the nice start to a pretty frightening deck. Throw in some of the first strike equipment out there (Viridian Claw, Sharpened Pitchfork, Bladed Pinions) and it becomes even better.
