This card is reminiscent of Spiritmonger. Like Spiritmonger, it costs 3BlackGreen and has the potential to be huge. Also like Spiritmonger, it's not as good as it looks, and for one simple reason: no evasion. In this case, it's especially disappointing since the art looks like it should have flying or trample. Or both. It'll still be interesting in casual, though, especially when someone uses it with Traumatize.

i think this card should have trample or something or atleast have another effect personaly i think it shouldent be a mithic rare since a 1/1 can block it or even a turmanate can easily kill it

★☆☆☆☆ (1.4/5.0) (7 votes)
This guy really needs an ability like trample, or regenerate, or shroud, or something. I mean Mortivore costs one less cheaper and is as strong as the number of creatures in graveyards, but at least it has regenerate.

combine with behemoth sledge for trample and lifelink. i did and i got it as big as a 30/30 with lifelink and trample. :D 15 cards in my gy and 15 in theres :D

This is a great Timmy card. I don't think that it should have any type of built in evasion. If it did, it would be too overpowered and can potentially kill with 1 attack. I like the fact that you have to do something extra in order to win with this creature.

Just plain obnoxious in a Mill deck.
Though it is a shame he does't have Trample...or even Flying.

This guy is great. Not only can he be a game-changer if you give him trample or lifelink as has been mentioned, but, he also kills when comboed with cascade.

Gift of the Deity turns this from awesome to overpowered. An X/X deathtouch that must be blocked by everything and every time he kills something it makes him bigger.

Love me some BG.

Would This guys power and toughness be a number whilst he is in the graveyard? If so their is some great potential. Self mill+Morbid Bloom to get something like 40 saps into play
on turn 7 or so if you self traumatize
using fog type effects and death touch Deadly Recluse to keep them out of your business

elflover you are wrong. Terminate is a new burn introduced to kill all types on-non anti spell creatures like all fat creatures this one has a weakness. And you can't expect this to win the game for you all the time. Of course you could use this in a milling deck or a golgori. I favor milling though this card plus Nemesis of Reason or Memory Sluice or Traumatize or Traumatic Visions. Anyway cost 5 for a potential 9/9 or at least 7/7? Dude that is great with shroud. But not even the might Progenitus is the most powerful---just use Martial Coup by by all creatures except tokens.

Play a memory erosion to feed this guy in early game, then slap a diplomatic immunity on it. Almost nothing can remove or kill it after that. Lord of extinction in hand, electropotence in play, 8 mana is a great way to finish a game.. 20+ burn damage in one turn? Yes please!

Soul's fire also works for 20+ burn damage on one turn.

you all need to stop complaining this thing is amazing the reason its a mythic is cause its outrageously powerful if u play it right i got a black green deck all death touch i got this thing up to 40/40 and with a gorgon flail on it a 40/40 deathtoucher that gets bigger if u block it now think for a seacond there such a thing as equipment and enchament to boost him out the rough now stop complaing and play him

@ People who say "I think he should have shroud or regen, or other things":

DO that; make a deck with cloaks, regens, and run 4 of this guy, and have a ball. It's annoying when people complain about a card not having invincibility when the whole point of the game is to design a deck to supplement/protect awesome cards.

He only costs 5 to drop. Which means you could either have a cloak on the board and cast him for 7 with cloak equip, OR, cast him for 7 with Negate. Maybe have some sniper regen spells ready. This an amazing game-winner and very cheap at 5 CMC.

Has to be one of the absolute coolest multicolor cards eva! Kinda wish I had a couple of sets instead of just one lol...

@his00 (11/28/2009 2:49:58 AM)

As a 40/40 (or anywhere over '20') don't you think Death Touch is a bit of an over kill and kinda pointless?? I mean, death touch is useless against indestructables and creatures with protection from green or black EVADE the damage so the death touch factor doesn't/ wont matter, so with this in mind the death touch doesn't add anything to it cause the few creatures it can't kill via damage it can't even kill via it's death touch either....

I rate this card a 5/5. I find it amazing. While just sitting at home, and thinking about a cool deck idea. I thought,
"Hey, why not Lord of Extinction in a dredge deck?"
It works well. Got him up to a 54/54, and then cloned him.

at His00, gorgon flail was kind of pointless, like really pointless... How about whispersilk cloak? for 1 more mana you give him shroud (Somethin hes gonna need) and makes him freakin unbolckable, so instead of "When you block him he gets bigger" its "You cant block him, you can't terminate him, you die."

A timmy card with a great power level and something for johnny too.

Good design, good card, not ridiculously powerful, but definitely top tier. He's particularly interesting because of the various instants that can have a big impact on him. Even a simple giant growth gives him +4+4.

Absurdly powerful for his cost. The lack of evasion just means you have to give him Dragon Fangs or something. I use this guy with a deck that literally mills itself to scraps. It's hard to deal with a 53/52 Flying, Trampling, Vigilant, Hasty dude on turn four. Especially when they tap out for Jace.

Gabriel422
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
It's a creature that's potentially very huge, but it's unreliable in not one way but two; the usual "dies to removal", but also a risk that it will come into play as a 3/3 or smaller. Which can happen often if your deck is slow and you have to cast it turn five or die. This is the explanation I can give as to why I always ended up running Bloodbraid Elves and Broodmate Dragon while this thing got cut. But then, these cards set a high bar, themselves being the best cards in the best deck of the time (Jund).

This big guy is the finisher for my multiplayer dredge deck. Alongside Jarad Golgari Lich Lord and Golgari Thug I will always be able to kill everybody in a single turn. One of the most fun times I had with this deck was when my friend was playing a sac deck and had a Sangromancer out, so in response to me sacrificing this 34/34 monster he killed his whole field and lived with 12 life. After me raging for a moment Jarad swooped in for the kill.
