going between lorwyn and alara, this is the only hideaway/creature still playable

W: swing with 3, attackers have lifelink
U: mill, big creature
B: empty hands, damage for empty hands
R: deal 7, discard then draw
G: 10+ power, can make 25/25 creature

W is good with a white weanie deck but in alara, the white shard, bant is all about swinging with 1, not 3
U is great in a mill deck, although the creature could be better, the blue shard, esper is about artifacts
B is good, if you got lliana, but really, you have to empty your hand too, plus, Grixis is about killing creatures, not discarding
R is 7 damage, easy with a red burn, but the only link with Jund is the creature is another dragon, no synergy
G is awesome, need 10 power, ok, we just need 2 naya gargantuans, ok, so we need 10 to tap so mossbridge troll is a 25/25, again, just 2 gargantuans needed

Pretty sure this is the longest activated ability cost of all time, as well as the biggest single stat increase ever written on a card. I thought it was a typo the first time I read it.

I had a thought. If it can regenerate at any time it would be destroyed, imagine using this with Doomgape. Sacrifice Mossbridge, gain 5 life, he regenerates, attack with Doomgape, and if you get just 1 other creature on the board, you can sacrifice that instead, tap Doomgape, and let loose a 25/25 powerhouse. Talk about broken!

@Xpodmaniac:
If you sacrifice a creature, it can't regenerate. It's just dead.

Mayael's Aria + this + Naya's 5/Xers, just straight up good. Nice combo that you don't have to base your whole deck around, can play straight up beatdown if they screw up the combo.

the major flaw is that if you have 15 power worth of creatures, you are probably winning anyway.

And then comes a one white mana-colored card to ruin your day...(Path To Exile) Oh bugger...

The difference between creatures worth 15 power and a 25/25 is that players have 20 life (at least to start out with).

Try this with Mage Slayer or Colossal Might or both.

Part of the issue here is actually the mana cost, the card is pretty awesome in general respects, but the 7 mana means you aren't likely playing this before an opponent can remove it. The regeneration is both good and a drawback, because your opponent can force tap it by hitting with a burn spell. You could tap out 2 creatures to give it the 20/20 and they just use an unmake or a path to exile, and its still vulnerable to anything that says creature can't regenerate like terminate and terror. Possibly best strategy is soul's fire, and then only tap out your other creatures when you can hit the soul's fire for 25 and win the game. Whispersilk cloak or protective bubble also wouldn't hurt.

@xpod sacrifice is not a destroy effect, it still dies.

This Is Easy A 4.5 At Least Its Pretty Much Indestructible For 1 Mana More Cuz A Vanilla 5/5 Is 6 Mana The Second Ability Is Whatever And For The LOLzz, But Also The Art Is Very Impressive

This card is excellent. its not that hard to give a creature trample. with the new power five or greater cards from shards of Alara, you'd have quit a few cheap 5/5, maybe second or third turn, then sacellum godspeaker to get him out. A Phyrexian Dreadnought based deck. Idk. I'd give it 4/5

It's auto-regenerate ability makes it a formidable creature already even if his second ability is not used at all. Pair him with a Godsire for easy power-up.

Elvish piper to get this guy out on turn 4, play phyrexian dreadnaught next turn, and before phyrexian dreadnaught has a chance to die, use this guy's ability to tap him and give this guy +20/+20. Then throw on a Berserk just for good measure; turn 5 50/50 trampler is nothing to scoff at.
Al0so, it won't die because Berserk specifically says destroy, not sacrifice, so he just regenerates. Not that it matters, the whole 50/50 trampler should win long before you need to worry about that.

How does this work with -x/-x effects? It would go to the graveyard as a state-based effect, right?

So large...Om nom nom nom.

Hard to get rid of (eat it, Doom Blade!), and it has a situational, yet game winning, ability.

Conceptually, I'm having a hard time imagining how a troll can easily win in hand-to-hand combat against Emrakul, The Aeons Torn... lol

@KrosanGardener: So the main problem is that you're winning too much? That earns him a point in my book. My major problem is that he's pretty hefty, at 7 mana. I'll give him 4/5

I was wondering what to do with my Berserk. I'll put it on my 25/25 making it a 50/25 with trample, and regenerated so it doesn't die at the end of the turn. Now, how to get that 10 power....

umm...

I see this guy in forums at times. No matter what they do to try and destroy him, he just regenerates and goes at it again.

A quick question about this card:

If he would be destroyed, instead you regnerate him. Regeneration means that if the creature would be destroyed this turn, instead you tap it, remove any damage marked, and remove it from combat.

Since two replacement effects are trying to replace the same thing, I believe you get to choose which one actually occurs. If all that is correct, a destroyed Mossbridge Troll would never need to be tapped, you simply give him more (redundant in the most recent ruleset, I think) instances of a regeneration shield.

Is all that correct, or am I interpreting this the wrong way?

Yet another instance where I love Putrefy.

And I love how a troll is the most powerful creature in the game (when his ability resolves, and assuming that you haven't been boosting a creature).

Note the missing "instead" in the rules text. It doesn't replace the destruction with regeneration, it just regenerates it before it gets destroyed.

I've been playing MTG for a year and a half now and I just found out about this card.

My reaction: WHAT THE **** IS THAT THING!?!?!?!?!?

I'm not sure there is another creature card in Magic that has a built-in +20/+20 bonus on it. I say Rancor for giggles, seeing as neither of them ever freaking die.

hot damn, I want this card. the auto regen is enough in cost alone, but with the power up, you basically turn this troll into a OHKO machine.

Even without trample, this guy is still a threat. luckily. he can't really be killed by conventional means, but he still requires protection, like against -1/-1 counters, incinerate, and regen-kill cards.

A great card netherless. 5/5.

Oddly offensive card for G/W vigilance decks. Induces all your monsters to attack and then tap to pump the troll. Wrks great in G/W too because of all the good auras in that color (many of them trample or lifelink inducing) Can you imagine pollenbright wings attached to this guy?

He has application in many colors but I think G/W is most synergistic especially since a lot of white board sweeps dont do anything about regeneration.

I think it's no accident that this guy looks basically exactly like the little dude on fling. Which means whatever's flinging him is @#$%ing massive. All in all, this is one of my favorite cards of all time. Cards like this are the reason I started magic in the first place. It's just so much fun.

Mossbridge has so much going for it. Can't really build around it as an effective centrepiece, but it makes a nice addition to any deck that can afford to cast it. Very resilient. Trolls rule. 5/5
Zetan
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@Salient: Funny you should mention Phyrexian Dreadnought, I think they can actually combo off each-other to get the dreadnought to stick. Dreadnought enters play, his trigger goes on the stack. Tap him, make Mossbridge Troll a 25/25. Dreadnought's trigger resolves, sac Mossbridge Troll (who now has power much higher than 12). Does that work?

It's not the cheapest way to get a Dreadnought to stay in play, but it's not bad.

toXicus
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
People, people: why are we ignoring the fact that his ability can trigger multiple times? 25/25 isn't his upper limit. Get 20 power worth of creatures and make him a 45/45. Get 40 power and make him 85/85. There's no overkill like beating face with a monster that pumped itself to be more powerful than all the Gods, Avatars and Eldrazi put together!
OlvynChuru
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@can2n

Abusing Mossbridge Troll is pretty simple. Cast it, then cast Day of Judgement. The troll will regenerate (and, if you built your deck right, so will many of your other creatures), but your opponent's creatures are dead. Attack.
