Imagine you had a cantripping land, at the expense of coming to play tapped. I.e. for the cost of just ONE mana you get an extra card in your hand. (Compare with Divination and co. - the going rate is 3 mana for one card advantage).

Now imagine you have a cantripping land with card-selection (i.e. you get the best spell out of four random cards)

Now imagine you get to cast that spell (be it Progenitus, Elesh Norn, Sun Titan, or Spagetti Monster) for just 2 mana, irrespective of its true CMC...

I don't understand why people are so wishy-washy about this card!!!!!

I'm with DarthParallax here. I won't deny the great usability of this, it's just that I don't particularly like seeing recent prints in FTV sets, especially when they don't have new art. Is it so difficult to find an inexpensive one from Lorwyn? Something like Thawing Glaciers would seem like a better fit for me.

it's a good land- but this one is a pretty wierd include to me- it's somewhat recent, not hard to get, and while it's 'good', it's not like it's high above the curve of goodness or historicity- even Shivan Gorge and Desert I can make archaelogical arguments for why they are good to Vault, but Windbrisk Heights? OK..it's a land that gets played in some decks. A LOT of Lands can say that about themselves. Actually most of the Lands at 'Rare' rarity or higher. So what makes this one special? :/

@Totema: Well I also think they try to showcase 'Best of Block' cards as much as possible. Just that it is from Lorwyn is not necessarily a deal-breaker- but GIVEN WOTC says 'lets have a card from Lorwyn- and we need another White land too'- WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY not pick VIVID MEADOW?! Seems obvious as an opportunity for New Art, a moderately cool land that is from a cycle historically important to lands-- ok that might still not quite be 'Mythic' to people, since it's got itself some reprints...well, Emeria the Sky Ruin could have pinch hit for ZENDIKAR...you know...the 'It's All About Lands' Block....the Block that notably has zero cards that got into From the Vault: Lands.

Wow. Fail Zendikar Block, Fail. FTV Lands did not think any of your lands were special. Not Fetches, not Man-Lands, not even Valakut got in.

^this^

Also, last time I checked, attacking with 3 creatures is an easy clause to meet.

This card's great. I pulled this off:

T1: This card exiling Storm Herd
T2: Vault of the Archangel, Gold Myr
T3: Swamp, cast Spectral Procession for {2}{W}{W}
T4: Swing and cast Storm Herd

Casting Storm Herd on turn 4 while getting mana- and color-screwed is pretty good in EDH.

Hideway lands are awesome so long as you can activate them reliably, and this is the best in the cycle. It's essentially impulse on a land and it's a bit better then even that because instead of having to pay it's cmc, you just cheat it into play for 2 mana. In terms of a "value" land, this is the best land in the game, not close. This is better then even Halimar Depths imo. That's why it's in FTV:R

This looks like it would be great in a human tribal backed by angels. It seems like it would be a fast way of cheating out Avacyn

Winmore Heights.

All the hideaway lands are just win more, unfortunately. I've watched a lot of MTGO and have never seen one swing a game.

Good way to get out Omniscience early, which is also an easy way to get out Primal Surge early. i think alot of people underestimate the power of this card, especially in casual multiplayer
