i think that's not that much of a johnny card - it might synergize nicely, but i can't think of a real combo right now.

Green-Blue combo johnny cards are my type of card and this one is one of the best that I've ever seen. If you want to know a fun card to combo with then I have one possible answer: Arcanis the Omnipotent.

I'm assuming these guys were designed to work with Cascade to play spells. I just got these today - I'm intrigued. I don't think I have the deck for it, but I'm curious.

combo with a soverigns of lost alara once you have six lands and you never have to worry about getting lands you don't need, and bring in the big gunns with some serious enchanting.

Hmmm I dunno about this, the inability to draw a non-creature card kinda scares me... But I suppose in the right deck this card could be awesome. Maybe.

Mode: Where is your Johnny blood?

Try using this guy with Library of Leng and then Esper Sojourners. When you cycle the sojourners, you can choose to put it on top of your library instead of your graveyard using the Library of Leng. The Sages will let you reveal the top 3 cards, one of which is the creature that you just put on top of your library. The Sojourners let you tap or untap a permanent when you cycle him, so if you have a land with Dawn's Reflection or a Bloom Tender with 3 colors of permanents in play, then you will be able to get your 3 mana back, allowing you to repeat the combo.

You get to pull all of the creature cards from your library for free, but if you are playing with Bloom tender, you have the potential to get infinite mana if you have more than 3 colors of permanents in play.

I'll let you figure out your own win condition.

Do the cards you put into your hand count as drawing a card? For example, do they put counters on Lorescale Coatl?

I guess "put into your hand" isn't the same as "draw", just as puting a card onto the battlefield isn't the same as playing it. And since the card says instead, it probably dosn't count as drawing.

@SavageBrain89 no no you can do much better. suppose you have a deck of weenie elf druids(definetly include heritage druid) the land producing sort. You get away with say 10 forests. include 4 sages 4 gilt-leaf arch druids 4 harbingers to get them. Get sages and Gilt-leaf in play. Cast one druid pick up a probable 3 more druids cast em using your druids pick up a shit load more druids cast em until you have all your creatures in your deck out. The real beauty is you don't have to worry about exhausting your deck because you'll never pick up the remaining lands. maybe add 4 wirewood symbiotes to protect the important elves. Also include caller of the claw(creature) in answer to anything that might wipe all your creatures.

I don't think many people realize the massive potential of this card... oh well means i can get em at 25 cents each i suppose.

Would this work with Allies? or Treasure Hunt?

This would be quite interesting were it a 'may' ability, but screwing yourself out of every non-land card in your deck can be devastating.
I would gladly pay an additional one or two to have this be a 'may' ability, at which point this card would be quite fun to build around casually, as where else will this see play?

Idk, I never play a u/g deck without good noncreature cards, this is more of an exalted deck card.

Would be interesting to see this card played with Oracle of Mul Daya, Sages filters out creatures, while the Oracle allows you to still get those lands out into play.

@Phildiddy

No, because it replaces the effect of drawing with revealing cards.

Imagine making a BlueGreen all-creature (+Lands) deck with 4 of these and 4 Graceful Adepts to prevent discard. Yeah... I like it.

It's fun with Oracle of Mul Daya, Mul Daya Channelers, Heartwood Storyteller, any mana-producing/ land fetching creatures, any library ordering/ sifting creatures, and a token bomb fattie. Those are just the obvious combos - I'm sure there are plenty more for this combo-craving gem.

Animar, Soul of Elements found his new Best friend in an EDH deck. Just need a Green Sun's Zenith effect to pop this dude into play from your deck and Animar will be set on Creature buddies to hang with. Especially if you match it up with Consecrated Sphinx . Each opponents turn gets you to look at your top 6 cards for creatures. And that's just off their regular turn draw.

Along with the aformentioned Animar(similar names, hint hint), this guy goes really well with things like Soul of the Harvest or Primordial Sage. Play a creature, draw more creatures, play those creatures, continue. I've dug through about 15-21 cards in a turn.

Ultimate Johnny Insanity: this + Aluren + Glimpse of Nature.

I play it with Armored Skaab, Snapcaster Mage, and a Laboratory Maniac somewhere in your library.

This is probably the sickest card in my Momir Vig deck. Plays well with Sylvan Library and very well with Abundance. (You choose which of the three replacement effects to use: do you want a land card, a nonland card, or up to three creatures?)

If you don't run this with Abundance or sacrifice outlets, remember to stock plenty of landfetch creatures (Sakura-Tribe Elder, Fertilid, Coiling Oracle, etc). Otherwise you'll stall out at five lands.

this card makes me sad. I run a simic elf edh deck with edric or momir as my general. this card just has sooo much potential. the 2 simple changes that would make this card playable would be, saying "If you would draw a card, instead you MAY reveal... otherwise draw your card" and the second things is, i honestly think this should be a 4 or 5 card filter reveal. even in a 60 card deck, assuming you are running from 30%-40% mana (18-24 land cards). And assuming that of the remaining 36-42 cards, you are running primarly creature cards, it still seems as though the chance of hitting a land or one of ur few non creature cards isnt worth the restraint of only 3 cards filter. let alone in an commander deck....

in summation, someday, i hope to see a 4-6 cmc u/g elf with a reworded version of this cards ability. its a great concept, the sages just dont deliver.

also, the artwork is soooo awesome, it makes how lack-luster the card is all that much more painful...
