or Mycoloth might go pretty good with this. just a new casual deck idea now all they need is an enchatment: all creatures you control have infect

If it targets itself, it's Steady Progress without the cantrip, cheaper, colorless, and at sorcery speed.

In a best case scenario, it foils exile effects on your recursive permanents and takes them to the gy while giving you a proliferate for no mana.

Decent card, seeing as how it grants free proliferate, but I cant see myself using this. If I put an artifact in a deck, Im not just about to sac it. Maybe in time I will think of a deck that runs this, and Corpse Curs and Necropedes

for 2 mana this seems very efficient.

People are looking at it all wrong. You don't sac other artifacts to this unless you know you'll win. To me this is basicly a Seal to be used latter.

Sacrificing an artifact to win the game is a good trade-off.

More often than not, this is best used sacrificing itself to proliferate. The artifacts you generally have on the field generally arent worth sacking, especially if its your artifact creatures, like say your poisoners or buffing equipments, or really anything. I havent come across an artifact beyond myr propagator token thats worth sacking instead of this.

Perilous Myr
...
combo'd with Nim Deathmantle =
tap Throne, sac the Myr, does 2 damage, Proliferate if you want, pay 4 mana to get the Myr back from the graveyard and untapped and equipped as a 3/3 ready to block, attack, die again...

also combo'd with Prototype Portal -
made a new Myr each turn and sac'd it for damage...

This with one corpse cur out and another in your hand: attack, sack, proliferate, return.

This is awesome! When the opponent tries to remove or destroy your artifacts, you tap and sac to get a free proliferate. Chump block his massive attacker and sac it before combat damage is dealt, this rox!
Is it certain that you can sac it to itself?

2 copies of Corpse Cur + Throne of Geth + Hand of the Praetors.

I've found this useful in my Infect deck when the game stalls.
I can sac my artifact creatures to it when they are targeted with removal or going to die on a first striker.
I can sac my Necropede to it and then proliferate the -1/-1 counter I place from it's goes to the graveyard effect.
I can toss a counterless Trigon or other charge-counterless artifact to the Throne to get one more use out of it.
And as mentioned by others, as long as it's untapped you can sac it to itself for one last Proliferate. An ability that would cost you 4 generic on any other artifact in the set.
Heck, I'll still cast Contagion Clasps to put -1/-1 counters on creatures and then sac them to my Throne for a free proliferate.
I can't wait to see how it plays in one of my decks with Planeswalkers in it. Free loyalty FTW!

I pulled one of these, a Thrummingbird, and a Steady Progress. I was inspired. One word people: Modular

Modular is perfect to run one (or four) of these in; your creature's already going to the graveyard? Sac it to give your other mods more +1/+1s, then move that creature's +1/+1s anywhere you choose. Heck, you could even do this midgame for practically no reason at all other than to pump up an Arcbound Crusher to trample into your opponent. Besides, with an Arcbound Reclaimer out, the sacrificing isn't really a price to pay at all.

Throne of Geth + Modular = Your opponent needs a change of pants.

The text (sacrifice an artifact:) does this mean you can only sac 1 artifact to pay it's cost and only get 1 proliferate or can you sac multiple artifacts to get multiple proliferates, because of the : symbol?

This card is a crazy strong enabler! If you just sac it to itself, then it's a 2 mana counter boost that can go into any color (like Koth red decks). If you pair it up with some artifact creatures, any turn something dies, you get a little boost (Spellbombs or when your opponent attacks your mana myr, boost your Everflowing Chalice instead!). Finally, if you combo it with recurring artifacts, it does silly, silly things to the board position (Corpse Cur or Myr Retriever).

Worst case scenario- you have nothing to proliferate - should've remembered before yous sacced it.
Usual scenario- 2 for a poision counter and maybe something extra.
Best case scenario- Every time one of your artifacts or artifact creatures is naturalized or destroyed in combat the opponent gets a poison counter and all their artifact removal suddenly seems like a waste.
Overall pretty good.

Sacrifice the empty Trigons since you can't refill them once they're completly drained. The Perilous Myr combo is nice, but it just breaks my heart to have to kill that cuddly creature. Myr Reservoir is a cheaper way to reanimate Myr to sacrifice over and over and over again. Great card, at the very worst it's a 2 mana Proliferate, that could trigger some Artifact enters/leave the batlefield shenanigans. Oh, how about we sacrifice that commenter MasterOfEtherium, because the card he stole the name from is an artifact. Then the Multiverse wouldn't have to be subjected to his mindless comments and Magic players could comment in peace and tranquility.

If you sacrifice Fume Spitter, can you proliferate the -1/-1 counter it grants? Or does that go on after the proliferate?

*sees Necropede comments*

Oh right!

I would also argue thats it's very helpful in a poison deck. With either sacrificing itself, or on of your equipment at the last minute for the final poison counter. The possible but unlikely corpse cur combo. Also helpful to use with necropede whenever it's countered by a removal spell. I think It's a very useful Card and I'm never disappointed to see one in my hand.

step 1: Reassembling Skeletons
step 2: Liquimetal Coating
step 3: Proliferate with Throne Of Geth
rinse an repeat
throw in a step 4: Voltaic Key if you want

plus it's only 3 parts that cost two mana each

I'm gonna use this card with spellbombs to proliferate poison they took from Ichor Rats, and draw a card. It'll probably be janky and who knows if it'll win a game, but it'll be fun! Maybe throw in a Voltaic Key!

Core prowler sac's nicely here. See the new formula for prolif can be pictured in ones head as a MONSTROUS machine where right at the base there's a tiny shriveled old man with grey hair wearing a white teri cloth around his waste, pulling a bent metal arm in circles counter clock wise, 1 prolif leads to another & my oh my, it's a fantastic mechanism. Don't like it? Don't fight the machine, it has too many heads to cut off & like a hydra, they'll just grow back stronger. To stop prolif, forget about prolif & Take out the old man ;)

Its amazing that Spine of Ish Sah costs 7, but in draft last night still felt incredibly broken with the Throne. Good time to draft Grindclock, Necrogen Censer, or Furnace Celebration (all usually very late picks) if you happen to get these 2 bad boys. I picked up a Molderbeast & Fangren Marauder. In one game I ended at 61 life, I attacked with a 7/3 trampler many times as well.

Flavor text really seems to refer to the Spine, love it.

I like to use it with the Sword of the Meek since as long as you can play or make 1/1 creatures it'll keep coming back.

Can it sacrifice itself to proliferate? it doesn't say "then proliferate" so do they take place at the same time?

I run it with Mycosynth Wellspring in my U/G infect deck. Proliferate and accelerate my mana at the same time. It synergises with cards like thrive to keep an otherwise very fast-burning deck working into the mid-game.

As far as the ability proliferate is concerned, before the limitless combos this card allows to exploit are considered, you're not going to get a more economical option by virtue of the thrones ability to sacrifice itself. Before all else is considered, a two colourless mana proliferate warrants exceptional consideration.

Combine this with the aforementioned Pentavus AND Dross Scorpion, and whammo, proliferate nearly as much as you want.

Run with Smokestack and Tangle Wire. It not only can buff them up so your opponent has to deal with more counters, it can kill them during your opponent's turn so you have *no* negative effect.

4.5/5 just for that IMO.

@Continue

When I read your "Strictly better than Parallax Inhibitor." comment I thought "Oh look, another person who doesn't know what 'strictly better' means.

Then I re-read Parallax Inhibitor, and thought about every single scenario that and Throne of Geth would go through. And I realized how completely right you are, and that I just jumped to conclusions because most 'strictly better' cases are like a Grizzly Bear vs. a Grizzly Bear that has trample or something- there's just one way it improves on the card. Not three (or 4 or 5 if you take rarity and relevance of fading counters into account). So:

1) I apologize for doubting you in my head, stranger.
2) Holy fu*k, really?! Something as bad as Parallax Inhibitor exists?. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that every copy of Parallax Inhibitor in the world gained sentience and committed suicide via paper-shredder the day Throne of Geth was spoiled.
