Ahead of the curve, protects your flimsy contraptions, and flies over your opponents army ftw?

a 4/4 flyer for 4cmc is good enough already... to add the artifact shroud makes this awesome! :)

I can't help but want to put a whispersilk cloak on her.
Then start pumping things up with steel overseer.

...Does proliferate target the permanents, or does having the player choose them break through shroud?
If proliferate targets then this card would be indispensable for my indestructible artifacts, specifically my Darksteel Juggernaut

Who cares about having artifacts? Just play that with Mycosynth Lattice and not only will you automaticly reach the Metalcraft condition, but all your permanents will have shroud, lands included.

play this card, put a Whispersilk cloak on it, and play a Platinum angel and any other Artifact, and you shouldn't be able to loose.

Are they aiming to make people play angel decks in competition or wtf?

This is a REALLY good card and has saved me many games, I run two in my Technicolor metalcraft deck. The only real problem with it is that it lacks evasion itself but this can easily be fixed and my personal favorite way to do this is with Liquimetal coating giving

With Liquimetal Coating and just one other artifact, you can pretty much give a permanent of your choice each turn shroud. You cast Doom Blade on my Sun Titan? I use the Liquimetal Coating and give it shroud, fizzling your blade. Whoops!

@ToidiDiPuts - proliferate doesn't target, so it gets around shroud. Of course, the permanents need a counter in the first place, so it can make putting one on more difficult.

MasterOfEtherium, if your not going to stop posting in that very annoying and childish way, get off the Gatherer. You are ruining the experience and fun of this site for me, and undoubtedly many others.
Anyway, now that my tirade is complete, this is a good target for Liquimmetal Coating in Limited, if not in the other formats. A 4/4 for 4 converted Mana cost is good, but if you add in Flying and the Metalcraft ability, the card goes from vanilla to enabiling beater.

That's too much of beatstick, even without metalcraft effect. Word "angel" became synonym of powercreep in our days. This is even less balanced than Ezuri's Brigade. And that's definitely not the mythic i want to see in healthy game. 0.5/5
Danveldo
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@Daikoru why use the uber expensive Mycosynth Lattice ? Which means that it can only be used in Legacy ? When, for the Archangel, Liquimetal Coating is so much better. Simply for a few reasons

a) It's standard legal
b) It starts up metalcraft
c) It can stop removal targeting your non-artifacts
d) It is a lot cheaper both Mana and £ wise.

I think that the Archangel is strong and, more importantly, balanced. You get the same level of power and flight with Conundrum Sphinx And, the difference between Rarity warrants its powerful ability. (Although my opinions on how underrated Conundrum Sphinx is remains irrelevant) I do wholeheartedly believe that this card is balanced. If you do manage to turn off Metal craft...This is just a 4?4 beater. Which is perfectly Doomblade-able.

This angel, along with my Darksteel Forge, keeps my precious Myr safe... What's not to like?

Well, maybe that it's not safe from my Soulscour, since I have no card to make it an artifact...
But then again, if everything is dead, except my Myr, I don't really need shroud, do I? :P

DECK POSSIBILITY
5-color

Really all you need to pull a deck like this off would be: 5 lands of every color. 2 spells of every color. (have blue give profilerate fo any charge counters on your artficats, this as one of the white, and all others either give buffs, direct dammge or anything that does beneficial things when artfacts ar eplayed or with metalcraft.) and have the rest of the card slots be filled with artifacts. a good darksteel forge will do very nicely.

Again too many people belittling a great card.

It's a 4 to cast flying that gives shroud to all your artifacts, this is the perfect card to paired with Stoneforge Mystic. Great for Control and Aggro decks that relies on Artifacts.

Been scanning many discussions on great cards such as Vengevine and others, and I've noticed a pattern wherein the really castable, practical, and good cards are bashed for their seemingly weak P/T numbers and simple effects/abilities, while those cards that rarely see play but have cool effects/abilities or great P/T numbers are given high props.

Why are the best cards belittled? This is unfair!!!

Silverskin Armor from Mirrodin Besieged might make a pretty good equip for her. Probably just as good as Whispersilk Cloak, but more accessible in draft. Silverskin will assist with metalcraft, of course, and make your angel a bit more beefy. Outside of draft there are probably better ways to defend her.

Allen Williams did a wonderful job making her look angelic and indomitable. Her color, posture, and location makes for a very dominant yet serene image. While more detail could have been added to the background, I feel like that would have only distracted from the focal point of the image. The shades and colors used are wonderful, but I'm still left wondering why such dark values were chosen over lighter ones...

I'm begining to wonder at what point a 4/4 with two good abilities for four stops being ahead of the curve, and starts BEING the curve. But that's beside the point.

With all these hyper-efficient angels (though this one being a little more niche than the others), I wonder when we'll see some efficient demons as counterparts? Abyssal Persecutor was a step i nthe right direction, I think, but I'd like to see some more demons with drawbacks to support otherwise absurd frames. Vampires seem to have been printed under the same design philosophy as Angels (that is, mid-sized and above the curve), but Vampires vs Angels just doesn't have the same resonance with me.

This is the best white creature in the Mirrodin set. Her special ability is controllable with both Liquimetal Coating and Venser, the Sojourner.

Question for the peanut gallery. Doesn't this angel's ability interfere with equipment? Attaching an equipment to a creature (an artifact creature in this case) is a targeted ability of the equipment card according to the rulebook.

4/4 Flying for 4 is great. Shroud us usually very good.

Annoying that she doesn't play well with Glint Hawks or using equipment on artifact creatures, but otherwise excellent.

Strictly worse then Leonin Abunas. Its not a bad card at all. I wouldn't use it over Leonin Abunas though. Just because I like to be able to target my own artifacts.

This card is a bit weak considering that artifacts are mainly useful because you can target them with hellish abilities, like adding counters to them, untapping them for super cheap, or returning them to your hand to throw out stronger artifacts.

However, artifacts are also subjected to a lot of hate, so that makes this ability pwn. Plus, sometimes returning artifacts to your hand is something you're like to avoid.

I dunno. It's pretty. And a 4/4 for 4 cmc with flying and a sinister ability. So yep. :D

You are all crazy. This card is great, and in a block that is centered around artifacts, it should be painfully obvious by now why this was given it's mythic status.

I run four in my White equipment deck, and you ought to hear the moans and groans this thing gets everytime one hits the board.

If Silverskin Armor is equipped to this, wouldn't it just fall if you had metalcraft? Not sure of the rules there.

When I first saw this card, I was so exited for it. I finally got one (foil too) for my EDH deck. But I am not as happy with it as I thought I would be. All of your artifacts being shrouded makes her quite the removal target, as she is not an artifact. Shroud also prevents shenanigans with cards like Master Transmuter and equipment like Cranial Plating. If it gave Hexproof I would like it much more, but that would be way too overpowered. 3.5*

EDIT: Never mind, Master Transmuter doesn't target. I may have to reconsider this.

A beast for a Puresteel Equipment sideboard. So much artifact hate in standard right now. Dropping one of these to protect your swords, even if it only stays alive for a turn or two, can be a godsend.

Uggggggggh...
I look at my copies of this card and think: "Wow, I can't find a problem with it. It's well-costed as a 4/4 flyer, it has a relevant ability, and it looks slick! A wonderfully designed white card, I'm glad I have 2!"
Then I remember WHY I'm really glad...

It's a mythic. With no flavor. At 4 mana. My least favorite thing in MTG.
This could have been a wonderful rare -- just cost it at 2WWW and make it 4/5 if you're worried about limited! WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY
EDIT: Why would you downvote me? Where in the Scars storyline is an angel protecting your artifacts? On Mirrodin, they could have just replaced this with Sunblast Angel, made the Sunblast 6/6 and have Vigilance and make this 4/3 or 1WWW and called it a day! I'm angry.

Hey WOTC, could we at least start making these overpowered, undercosted Mythic Rares legendary? There's no reason this card shouldn't be legendary, especially since its ability affects all your cards and can't be stacked.

I'm guessing the only reason you don't make cards like this and Baneslayer legendary is so everyone'll want a playset and buy more boosters, but that's just me being cynical. :/

Also: "This plus 2x darksteel plate, 2x whispersilk cloak, this card and platinum angel = insured win."

I got two of her for my mono-artifact deck so I can be Mr. Badass, but then I realized that the fact that they have Shroud means I can't combo out with Voltaic Key and Tezzeret... So I did the only humane thing. I stuck her into my Stoneforge Mystic Deck :D

A lot of people are really undervaluing this card because they don't think it's Metalcraft ability is good enough (or something).

The truth is, this is the *only* 4/4 (or greater) white creature for 4 mana in the entire game of Magic that doesn't have a drawback. Not only does it not have a drawback, but it has FLYING and another ability which is great in artifact decks. Even in a deck with 0 artifacts, this is still a good creature that is well above the P/T curve for a white flier.

Ageless Sentinels requires you to block before you can attack with it.
Calciderm has vanishing (and no evasion).
Crude Rampart has defender (and no evasion).
Dust Elemental isn't as universal because you have to build your deck around it, since it requires returning 3 creature to your hand.
Heliod, God of the Sun requires devotion before it's a creature.
Hunted Lammasu gives your opponent a 4/4 creature.
Sunweb has defender and an additional drawback.
Thoughtweft Trio is limited by requiring another Kithkin on the battlefield (which you lose until the Trio leaves the battlefield).
Woolly Razorback has no evasion and has defender until you block 3 times and it doesn't even deal its damage during any of those blocks.

This is the only 4/4 for 4 in white that doesn't have major drawbacks or deck-construction limitations, and they've given it flying and another skill that just makes it even better in the right decks.

An excellent creature.
