I would have to put at least Asha's Favor on it, to get rid of those pesky flying creatures, with a Valor Made Real in hand. Of course, you can't KILL anything the first couple of turns this thing is out, with its ice counters, but we can fix that through VMR.

Valor Made Real doesn't help with this since it says "whenever blocks", not "whenever blocks a creature". You remove counter only every time it is declared as a blocker and that can be done only once each turn (excluding those cards that make combat phases).
The card itself is tempting. 4 mana 7/7? Yeah, defender but it loses it after few turns. Very tempting.
PRO TIP: Red force-to-attack cards. This has the double purpose of killing the creatures when they attack AND dismembering your opponent after a few turns.

My biggest problem with running this is that once it hits the battlefield, no one ever attacks with less than 7 damage. Therefore, it just sits there with three ice counters on it, unable to do anything, until it's eventually either removed from play (via a Doomblade ro othersuch spell), or has to block something so big that it dies in the process.

I like this guy. You get a 7/7 defender on turn four, and then ideally you can attack with him turn seven. I like how he's a giant lazy beast that has to be prodded a few times before he's willing to get up and attack.
Plus, the art is really good. I love that award winning smile. ^_^

Hakuna matata! Not the best of creatures, but the art won me over. Smiling white woolly warthogs are always worth it. Pair him with a Vampire Hexmage or a Hex Parasite and you're gravy. Note: does NOT combo with Doubling Season.
I adore defensive creatures and this guy has what I'm looking for! But, I found out the hard way that Warmonger's Chariot doesn't work when you still have those ice counters on the Woolly Mammoth.
