The thought of returning Jace Beleren to consistently destroy an opponent's Jace, the Mind Sculptor is quite hilarious.

A "build around me" card that isn't as universally good as say Grave Titan, but it's amazing at what it does.

Cry some moar. White has always been able to return creatures from the graveyard to the battlefield, just at much greater mana expense than Black. See Reya Dawnbringer and Reveillark.

As for this card, it's cool.

But strictly worse than Storm Crow.

I personally like Grave Titan better, but this guy is pretty insane. Also, all of the titan's are 6/6 for 6CC bomb's, so why the hate for this one over the others?

@ Laguz

If a creature with 0 mana cost, flash, haste and {T} You win the game was printed, would you give it 5 stars?

While neither you nor I agree with IshubarashI, he can still speak his (inelegant and crass) piece. Think a card is overpowered and subsequently a bad card? Vote it down and explain why. Differing opinion? Expound on that shit and bump some stars.

I disagree with what you have to say but will fight to the death to protect your right to say it.

Third best titan. Definitely not just a black ability, considering Resurrection/Reya Dawnbringer.

While not a good-in-every-deck card like Grave Titan, or a good-in-most-decks Primeval Titan, it's a build-around-me card that will be amazing in the decks it works with. May even see a home in Naya as a one- or two-of.

Screams "Combo piece!" to me. Not that it's not good in and of itself, but...

Breath of Fury, Fervor or something similar, and a couple Phantom Warriors. Or would you need three? If so, supplement with Aether Figments. Also, give him an Indestructability or some such.

Hmmm so green white combo piece for fauna shaman. Sun titan is interesting that way, it has to combo in a deck to work, unlike inferno titan or frost titan, and exactly like primeval titan. You have to have enough good 3 drops, like oblivion rings, jace beleren, fauna shaman, warpriest of thune, squardron hawks, lone missionary, garruk's companion, and others.

The Sun Titan is an awsome card. It doesnt stand alone as well as the Grave Titan or Primevil Titan but, with the right combination of permanents in your deck this card is unstoppable. It is a 6/6 "vigilance" creature that brings other perms back from the grave for free if you can keep him out and atk. Im currently running the Sun Titan in White/Black. Tidehollow Skuller, Quag Sickness, Nighthawk, Sword of Vengeance, Kor outfitter, and many other CMC 3 cards that make this card rediculously OP.

I have thrown one in my Naya deck just for spontanious flavor... when he comes out and i put an Hyena Umbra on him, its pretty much "I win" unless my opponent is playing Path to Exile/O rings/Journeys

Since the release of M11, UW control and destructive force/primeval titan decks are both seeing a lot of play.
Sun Titan is quite useful in UW control against destructive force/primeval titan decks.
They get their p titan out and hit all creatures for 5. They kill your Baneslayer Angel, but not your Sun Titan. So if you insist on playing 4 Baneslayers in your UW control deck, you may want to sideboard Sun Titan against the destructive force matchup. Of course, Frost Titan might be better. Depends on what else you are playing in the deck.

@ LiXinjian: He returns permanents to the battlefield, not the hand.

@ iondragonx: Permanents he returns from the grave can't be kicked, as his ability doesn't specifically cast them. It's actually fine though , as they could counter the returned card then, instead of not being able to, as of now.

I don;t use him to combo in the B/W deck I just built, but he recurs fetchlands and Tectonic Edge, so that's just awesome.

If you want a combo, run him with Sword of Vengeance, Stoneforge Mystic, and Kor Outfitter. Get the Sword out, the Outfitter in the grave, and get the Titan out to get a free equip into a haste swing for 8 trampling damage.

This card is a godsend for those who want to play UW control, but can't afford a playset of baneslayer or Jace, the Mind Sculptor (wallet sculptor).

He is just SO good in UW control, and he -sorta- takes baneslayer's slot. And the possibility for recursion with Jace Beleren makes having Jace the Mind Sculptor not -quite so much of- a necessity!

In just the generic UW build, he can bring back:

-Tectonic Edge for continual non-basic land disruption and manland killing
-Celestial Colonnades and Glacial Fortresses that have been Tectonic edge-d by an opponent
-O ring (if it gets countered- which happens surprisingly often in the mirror match) to exile permanents
-Wall of Omens to draw a card and get a chump blocker
-Jace Beleren for legend rule mayhem and perpetual card advantage
-Kor Firewalker to own the red matchup just a little bit more

If you get creative, you can even try using his synergy with:
-Meddling mage to destroy combo decks (no polymorph/ runeflare trap/ primeval titan today!)
-Courier's Capsule just in case you feel recurring jace beleren isn't enough card advantage for you
-Eel umbra as a sort of 1-of in the deck. Early game, you could use it as a makeshift negate to save a meddling mage or wall of omens, and late game you could tap out to play sun titan and immediately protect him with the totem armor

Anyways, I love this card. It's easily my favorite titan, even if grave titan and primeval titan are probably better in a vacuum.

Returning permanents and bypassing casting cost is white? Great!!!
This is a perfect example that R&D has no sense of flavor at all!

I don't care, if you can combine it with other cards, because this would make it more a blue/black ability than a white one. No thanks.

Idea: If you play a Spreading Seas on a nonbasic land (take THAT Valakut!) then does that land stay nonbasic? I believe so... :D

If it does, really obvious synergy between this, Spreading Seas, and Tectonic Edge. Spreading Seas them in the early game, Tectonic Edge them in the midgame, and recur both in the late game. Lets you wipe their side of the board of nonbasics (read: most of a modern deck's manabase) and color screw their remaining basic lands as well. And get more card advantage from the returned Spreading Seas!

Extra fun with Contaminated Grounds? Throw in some islandwalkers or swampwalkers (Wrexial?) for added excitement. Esper-control Land Domination deck, sounds entertaining....for the guy playing it!

A list of my favorite cards he can bring back:

-Tectonic Edge for continual non-basic land disruption and manland killing.
-Dauntless Escort for continual indestructible creatures.
-Vampire Hexmage for continual Planeswalker killing.
-Qasali Pridemage for continual Artifacts or Enchantements killing.
-Brindle Boar for continual gain life.
-Gustrider Exuberant for a continual flying Sun Titan.

You can return Ball lightning when the Sun Titan enters the battlefield, but when he attacks, it is too late for the Ball lightning to attack that turn, which is the only one it will be in the battlefield.

@MrBarrelRoll
Spreading Seas doesn't turn that land into a basic land, so you can use your Tectonic Edge on a non-basic land with Spreading Seas. I think the Spreading Seas is not useful here, though. Just use the Tectonic Edge.

Looove Sun Titan. Love him. He's card advantage; plain and simple. And in Scars standard right now, there're plenty of awesome 3 CMC (or less) permanents to dig out with the Titan. Just a few:

*Jace v1 - oh look, I played a 6/6 Titan *and* killed your Jace v2/put out a permanent to draw me 3 cards over 3 turns
*Wall of Omens - snap, 0/4 wall, 6/6 giant and a card from my library for 6 mana
*Cunning Sparkmage - thought you could stop my Basilisk-Mage combo so easily?
*Vampire Hexmage - repeatable PW removal
*Sylvok Replica - repeatable art/ench removal

And that's just one from each colour (true, Replica isn't really green, but if you're not playing green it won't be in your deck ^^). When you consider how many other awesome permanents there are that he can bring back... he's one of the best titans, no questions (unfortunately, it's hard to beat the sheer brokenness of Primeval Titan, or the overwhelming shutdown ability of Frost Titan). Definitely my favourite though, due to his awesome utility.

@Cyberium: See every other Titan.

Perfect for Ally decks. Sac and then bring back an Ondu Cleric every turn to gain 4-odd life and buff up your Kazandu Blademaster and Makindi Shieldmate for +1/+1, +2/+2 if you splash red and happen to have a Kazuul Warlord, all for the price of attacking with a 6/6 creature you can then proceed to defend with the next turn. Also good with Tuktuk the Explorer to launch 5/5 cannonballs at your opponent every turn (just make sure not to get a second token when there's one already out, seeing as they're legendary), Eland Umbra to make him never die, Mind Stone for repeatable card draw, Lust for War for repeatable weenie destroy (and lightning bolting); the potential combos are endless with this guy.

Mono white extended built around ramping into an infinite Martial Coup that contains a massive beat stick which autorecovers Shattered combo pieces? Yes please.

With Throne of Geth, you can proliferate twice in a turn for free - only once, however. Then, it's only one free proliferate per turn. Still, not too bad.

Posting just to clarify,
I thought that Aura's brought back by the Sun Titan would get sent back to the graveyard because they enter the battlefield unattached and become illegal. This is completely logical, but the rule 303.4f actually overrides this effect:

303.4f If an Aura is entering the battlefield under a player's control by any means other than by resolving as an Aura spell, and the effect putting it onto the battlefield doesn't specify the object or player the Aura will enchant, that player chooses what it will enchant as the Aura enters the battlefield. The player must choose a legal object or player according to the Aura's enchant ability and any other applicable effects.

So you can bring Aura's back with the Sun Titan and this is the reason.

transcendent master is my fav target. I also fun sword of vengence and emeria the sky rune, also consider Dawnglare Invoker.

I have in the past during my upkeep returned suntitan with emeria used it's CIPE to bring out sword use sword for hate then use it's attack effect to return master and pump him for 4+ at second mainphase

next turn your dealing with at least a 8/6 lifelink vigil first strike haste and a 6/6 vigil. also i saved my ass from a late game emrakul with dawnglare once.

also something overlooked about titan in my opinion if your going the emeria rout like me, is exploration map. you can use the map to get your emeria then later when your at 6 lands use titan to bring back map over and over for the rest of your plains.

The rating process is supposed to be objective. People who give cards .5 because they "don't feel like playing against it" really shouldn't be rating anything. Ever.

Primeval Titan has proven itself the best titan, but this is the second best imo (although second place is definitely debatable with grave titan around). There are so many killer permanents with CiP abilities that he can abuse. Creatures like Wall of Omens, Sea Gate Oracle and Aether Adept are boss with this. Or you could pull up a Whispersilk Cloak and equip him with it.

One of the craziest strategies is to keep drawing two cards a turn with Jace Beleren, then bring him right back when he runs out of loyalty (meaning you draw three cards that turn).

For your enjoyment, I present an "Ask Wizards" answer to the question:
"Do you ever plan on creating a white creature that has a power above 4 again, and have the casting cost be fair?"
Mike Eliot answered this back in 2002:
"...White will be unlikely to get strong constructed cards with fat stats -- that isn't really white's strength -- but you may see the occasional white legend with higher stats and somewhat reasonable mana costs. So, sorry, the 6/6 white groundpounder will always have to pay through the nose for the extra stats."

Don't get me wrong; I love the card, AND the fact that these guys are exceptions to the rule.
Sun Titan needed to be part of a cycle to get printed. All the beefy white fliers that cost X and have stats of X/X, where X is greater than 3 are rare.
