this + Crucible of Worlds works fairly nicely...
instant, infinite, re-usable, '0-mana costing land destruction' would be KINDA lolz

I recently scooped some Crucible of Worlds and I plan to see how well it works with Strip Mine and Wasteland in my Buried Alive deck. Should be real good.

Otherwise, classic land destruction. I remember when running a playset was legal, those were the days.

Me: plz to make unbanned?
WotC: sure, but then we have to ban Crucible and Loam
Me: but... but... JERKS!

banned for good reason and will likely stay that way.

More powerful than Wasteland but still worth around $4.00 in the market compare to Wasteland's $50+. Unbanning this not only would cause an upheaval on the meta-game, it would also crush the price of Wasteland.

Crucible Of Worlds is like an inverted tutor spell.
Life From The Loam is like an inverted Ancestral Recall with infinite flashback.

Strip Mine is a one-for-one trade. And its banned?

Whatever.

@ hovercraft seriously?
crucible of worlds is not like an "inverted tutor" or whatever, it like something that allows you to play land from your grave (which, may i add, would be INCREDIBLY broken with this)

life from the loam is nowhere near ancestral recall in any way. it costs 2, if you want to dredge it you cant draw, and you get lands back from your grave, not card advantage from your deck.

strip mine (in the correct deck of course) is like free land destruction. which is why it is banned. of course its "one for one" in a deck not constructed with it in mind. but who plays it in a random green creature deck at tournaments?

@Stille_nacht
I agree with all of your sentiments except for one. And my random green creature deck will beat your ass to a bloody pulp.

- You choose which lands to trade off.
- You decide when to use it.
- Absolutely no drawback for you, and an extra card in your graveyard, PLUS you can cast it again with Yawg or Crucible.

Land destruction, no drawbacks, and can only be utilized for the better. Wizards, what balance could have come from this?

binary, when this card was printed, those cards didn't exist.

unbanning wouldn't crush the price of Wasteland. you'd see lots of people move to mono-coloured decks to avoid getting blown out by colour denial, and given that mono-coloured decks are good at using wasteland in addition to strip mine, lots of people would still run wasteland

Strip Mine can also be used with Tilling Treefolk.

Back in high school, there was this one guy that ran a land destruction deck featuring 4 strip mines that no one could beat. But then the Invasion set came along and I discovered the card Harrow. Man I can still remember the look on his face when he tried to strip mine my forest, only to see two in its place! Ha ha.Good times.

One of the greatest lands ever printed.

Provides mana. Gives you an response to broken lands. Also occasionally mana screws an opponent. This card does so many little things right - every little % counts towards your winning percentage.

I love how half the people here are lamenting that it's banned. I got news for you guys.

US CASUAL PLAYERS THRIVE ON YOUR TOURNAMENT BANNINGS. It makes your overpriced cards permanently affordable. Also, with the new legendary rule, Gaea's Cradle is next. Enjoy and sell it while you can.

Swamp. Dark Ritual, Dark Ritual, Trinisphere, Cruciable of Worlds. Then play Strip Mine. Laugh maniacally. Congrats, you are now the most despicable player in all of Magic.

"This could easily be a "Land - Mine"." --GargleMesh

My hopes aren't too high, yet I could still see this happening, since they also Errata'd thousands of creature cards.
The change would be miniscule, particularly since it's a Vintage-restricted card, but I'm still wating for a "nonbasic land type matters" theme in a future set/block, so we can finally get something out of the subtype Urza's for instance.

Hey, there's a drawback! It only produces colorless mana, so it won't help if you're off your colors. What'll you do with it... then... ah. I see. Never mind.

@limbrooke; Buried Alive does not combo with Strip Crucible. Please read the card again.
