Being a 1/1 kind of sucks, but if its pays off, it pays off big.

Underrated in my opinion... If you get him out, you effectively can make any of your creatures huge at almost any time.

Anyone who says "Oh, just bolt him." is not paying attention. Very underrated card. I would sacrifice those precious Eldrazi Spawn to bring this guy out and somehow always keep one mana open in case there was burn coming my way. This card won me so many limited games due to an army of 7/7 Eldrazi Spawn. 4.5/5

Alot of you say 8cmc is alot, but you have to remember that your dealing with green. Green decks can go from 3 lands to 9 in a single turn. And if you slap a Canaopy Cover on him youve got a force to be reckoned with.

This guy sucks. I mean seriously: it's a 1/1 for 8 mana. Practically costs 9 if you want to protect him, and if your opponent has two burn spells you're even then out of luck. Not to mention that if something like night of souls' betrayal or engineered plague is in play, this dude is just a dead card. And he doesn't give trample either.
It's a nice concept, but powerwise this dude just blows. And sucks. At the same time.

In a deck with Eldrazi Spawn, you're most likely to have a few out already, and therefore, even if you summon this guy for eight mana and are tapped out, just having those couple unsacrificed spawns will keep him from dying. Then, when you untap, all hell breaks loose.

People make it sound like there is no possibly way to protect this guy as a 1/1... what? Give him shroud, enchantments, umbras, equipment... whatever! The guy can make your army GIGANTIC at an incredible pace.
He is at least a 4/5 based off of threat potential. He is a 50/5 for flavor. The picture may be my favorite in the history of the card game... I LOVE the praying mantis sticking his head into the top of the picture.

With Skill Borrower, you don't have to pay his mana cost or worry about his low toughness. Just use library manipulation to keep him on the top of your library.

Ways to make him playable- make the activation cost G, and let him target any creature.
can you pay 2 mana and then the creature gets 14/14?

No. The text says "becomes 7/7 until end of turn." If you make a 7/7 a 7/7... end result is that it's now a 7/7. you'd need to give it +7/+7 for it to stack.

Sleet is spot on. This card is a game winner if you cast it smartly. As long as it doesn't get removed from game most creatures are near indestructible. With all the tramble that green has you can easily and cheaply swing for the win next turn.

I put him in an elf deck with HUGE mana exceleration. Khalni Heart Expedition, Harrow, Llanowar Elves, Lotus Cobra and Greenweaver druid. Add in Pelaka Wurms, Sporecap Spiders and this and you've got some power. Hows a 7/7 Llnaowar sound? With all that mana boost his cost really isn't an object. Also, his flavor makes him my favorite green in the game. 4.5/5

Yes, Universalis, that's the way it would work.
Of course, there is plenty of creature removal that does not rely on damage, such as doomblade, and swords to plowshares, and this guy is a prime candidate for that too. You could always kit him out with shielding plax or the like and at that point, if you still have 1 mana open, there aren't too many ways to get rid of him (wrath of god, and the like).
Still, I'm imagining a situation where you're about to lose the game unless you get him out this turn, and you are at 7 mana, so you bring him out and, because you didn't keep 1 mana available, he gets hit by something for 1 point of direct damage and you still lose.

I love how many cards have been designed to work perfectly with spawns and Eldrazis. Make a Eldrazi deck a very "tangible" option.

@Superllama12 - How do you plan to 'power down' your opponent's Kozi? This card very clearly states "...you control...".
I suppose that you could gain control of Kozi, drop his P/T, give it back to your opponent, then have it attack somehow, but that's a little much to get rid of him, hey?

to bad it says "your creatures". the 15/15 is suddenly a 7/7, i like that. but even so, that 1/1 llanowar that probably helped him into play just became strong enough to hold his own against some eldrazi, i do like the idea of spending 4 mana on an elvish promenade and just get like 5 7/7s. no he is not an elf, but any time i see a very expensive green or colorless card i find a way to put it in an elf deck. like over half of all the eldrazis.

This guy is so crazy. Also he can turn himself into a 7/7 and take on even the bigger creatures by himself. Giant Growth also works perfectly with him.

Yes, this card is underrated. This card is a fifth turn drop for good green decks, and maybe you could even play it with one mana free turn four. This is a game ender.

Yea, he sure does suck. Remember playing Asceticism 3 turns ago? Terrible damn card. Especially for multiplayer casual.
If you look at the art without reading the card text, it looks like the guy is tiny and is standing under a bed with a normal-sized mantis.

If you can, IMMEDIATELY attach Mask of Avacynor similar to him, ( whispersilk cloak , canopy cover, etc.). Otherwise, he will be bolted as soon as he hits the table, if he hasn't been countered already. Play Silence before you cast him and your good.

Doesn't work with Training Grounds because it costs only one mana, but... come on, 7/7 for ONE MANA.
Slap Gigantiform on him and enjoy the silly flavor. I'll bet my right arm that the names of those cards aren't a coincidence. It's quite a steep mana cost, but thankfully there are ways around it. Goes really well with Awakening Zone.

I saw a lot of hate for this guy when he came out. A 1/1 for 8 is terrible. But he's not a 1/1 for 8, he's a 7/7 for 9, that makes your germ tokens 7/7s too.

Find it really funny that he is the exact opposite of the Invoker cycle in the same set. Now you get to decide whether you want to pay a bit early game and then later for a sweet effect, or up front for a crazy ability that you can SPAMLIKECRAZYFORPRACTICALLYNOTHINGBLUUH! Fun times.
I'm sorry, but purely on the art alone, I must rate 5. It's actually incredibly detailed. Plus, that active is horrifyingly strong. "in response to you declaring your attack, I make my field 7/7 + whatever +1/+1 counters they have", one colorless mana, doesn't even have to tap. Also Wild Pair
