Does couple well with exalted. Gives another good reason to pump your creatures in combat.

Great card teamed up with either Boon Reflection, Cradle of Vitality, or both and a creature with power of 4 or 5

@ Bauble, great combo, until someone uses Magister Sphinx or the new Planeswalker's 2nd ability.

Had something similar happen to me when i was using my Soul's Mighted, Behemoth Sledged, Cliffrunner Behemoth pre2010 rules. Went from over 200 life to 10, sucked hard...

If I can I use the combo of the Wall and my Natuko, Thriss Primus, use the Primus effect on itself and boom, 10 life end of turn... this card has saved my butt plenty o' times.

powerful, not sure if it is better with naya or bant, naya, you are almost guarenteed to gain 5+ each turn, but bant could be much more

but useing this with ajani, and the new cat soverin, 40 life you win, that is evil, white evilness

This is the greatest wall ever. This combined with Wall of Denial makes blue white control freakin' awesome.

Plays well with Ajani Goldmane's token. Doubling your life at the end of your turn is always fun.

Oh, how I hate that it doesn't gain life based on toughness! Probably prevents OP...

Still, a 1/6 with flying and defender for 3W is good enough on its' own, especially with its ability to resist a Broodmate Dragon.

I played against a friend who had a lifegain deck that contained this, Cradle of Vitality, and Celestial Mantle, among other nasty lifegain cards. I was playing a blue-green Thallid deck.

Things got interesting when I put a Followed Footsteps on a Mycoloth one turn, then followed it next turn with another Footsteps on his Wall of Reverence. This meant that each upkeep, I got tons of Saprolings, which I devoured to make a Mycoloth that was twice as big, and then at the end of my turn, for each Wall of Reverence copy, I gained life equal to the biggest Mycoloth's power. It got out of hand so fast that we stopped doing the math-- "That guy's about a 750/750," and so on.

The only way he won was by virtue of his Felidar Sovereign.

This provides a nice protection against flyers PLUS helps you get back in the game if you're losing. I've played scute mob with it, and saw it gaining me 5 life... 9 life... 13 life... 17 life... oh my!! I was almost dead then I drew into it, it simply turned the tables completely. 5/5

I had three walls out in my control deck with Ajani Goldmane"s token on the field and a cradle of vitality. I got to 810 life and the avatar token swung for 786. I love this. Asha's favor would be an ok card for the avatar: Flying, First Strike ,and Vigilance.

This was my first Favorite Card. I had a fun Naya deck that revolved around it and Cradle of Vitality + random 5+power creature, usually ended with a Soul's Fire. Exponential life gain FTW. It did very well in my casual circle.
One game, however, I got up to over 2000 life and a Woolly Thoctar of about the same power/ toughness - but my opponent's lone Vampire Nighthawk kept me from attacking long enough for her to play a Blood Tribute + Sanguine Bond combo. Lesson learned: big creatures are better with trample.

Works AMAZING in b/w lifedrain deck

This plus Divinity of Pride or Serra Ascendant

@Jacksjokeshop - one REALLY easy counter to Magisters Sphinx or Saurin Markov, is Tainted Sigil.

P1 - "Magister's sphinx... you're at 10"
P2 - "Saccing Tainted Sigil... Nope!"

Not that anyone cares, but if you have Ajani's Serra Avatar token out and one of these, your life total will double.

But with two walls, your life total will end at four times what it started it. Say you have 10 life, the first wall would trigger off the token, putting you to 20 life. Then the second one would put you at 40. A third and four will put you at 80 and 160 respectively.

But who cares about that, even with "just" a Woolly Thoctar you are gaining enough life each turn that your opponent couldn't hope to race you.

This was the first rare magic card I ever got. To be honest, its quite good in a naya deck. it allows you to keep on the attack, if you have strong enough creatures to keep up with the damage you take.

Of course, since its a wall, it can help with the damage you take, but I bet most people use this with Serra Avatar and the like. Then again, I'm just a newbie magic player stating his opinions...

Serra Avatar. That is all.

@JaxsonBateman: It's even better than that. If you have multiple Walls of Reverence, the triggers for all of them go on the stack, and then trigger one at a time. So if you had four of this and a Serra Avatar, your life would multiply by 16 each turn.

Use this with Serra Avatar on the field and things get fun fast.

I briefly considered putting this into an Exalted deck, but that idea didn't last long.

Assuming an ideal draw:

T1: Forest, Noble Hierarch
T2: Land... you've got 3 mana. This costs 4, can't play it yet.
T3: Land, you've got 4 mana. Time for Rafiq of the Many, or Elspeth, Knight-Errant if you have her.
T4: Land, you've got 5 mana. Time for Battlegrace Angel, or Finest Hour, if you have it.
T5: Land or no Land, it's time to catch up on whichever cards you didn't play the previous 1 or 2 turns.
T6: Maybe you will play this now.

That's already 4 moderately high CMC cards. Assuming your deck had three of the above, which would you drop for this?

The convenient window for a wall, or any big early move, is T2. The option you select has to be 3 mana or less. Wall of Denial, Giltspire Avenger, Rhox War Monk, Jenara, Asura of War, heck even Geist of Saint Traft (Exalted/Double Strike/Lifelink bonuses and a token attack towards a Planeswalker, nice) are all better T2 3 Mana options.

And assuming you didn't get your Noble Hierarch, or the 3 different mana required to pull off any of the above? The first land HAS to be a forest. You HAVE to get the Hierarch. You HAVE to get either a Plains, Island, or dual land on T2. Even the cards with mana costs White, Blue, and Any, might as well be White, Blue, and Green. If even one of the above pieces of the equation are false, your T2 Avenger, Geist, or War Monk doesn't happen. And then what have you got?

If I run a Wall, I'm sticking to good old Wall of Omens. Cheap and reliable, with card advantage. It serves its purpose for a turn or two. But my favorite option in this slot is Jhessian Infiltrator, alongside either Qasali Pridemage, or Aven Squire, if I'm sure I won't need Pridemage. Exalted decks aren't about waiting for them to come to you. And with a 2-drop on T2, if I have another Noble Hierarch, or a Bird of Paradise, that gives me 5 mana going into T3, which lets me play Battlegrace before Rafiq, or save 1 mana for something like Vines of Vastwood when he gets Doom Bladed.

Surely it has a place in many decks, but not in Exalted. There just isn't room for it.

Glyph of Destruction, anyone?
...
Apparently not. How about we add Fling to the mix? Kill an attacking creature, gain 11 life, then deal 11 damage to any target.

This is how walls should be. They shouldn't be just big chunks of HP unable to do anything but stall one fatty.

Wait a minute...

I played against a friend's esper deck today. I had this, Privileged Position and an Ageless Entity enchanted with Lifelink and Asha's Favor.

I got up to 262,462 life before he was able to destroy it (with a couple more lifegain spells thrown in). He ended up destroying everything I had and got most of his deck out before he milled himself to death.

Don't underestimate the usefulness of this.

It's a shame it can't really work in a wall deck, because it's pretty good in most other cases.

And then Drogskol Captain gave it hexproof.

I like how at minimum you gain 1 per turn. An Ajani's Pridemate curves pretty nicely into one of these, and every turn it gets bigger. Use with Ajani Goldmane himself to get your avatar token and double your life every turn.

Ah, I remember making my initial comment on this card shortly after I started playing.

Ne'er the less, I still play with Wall of Reverence in a few decks. It's a good road-block against most 5 CMC and less creatures, and the lifegain is relevant, especially if you've taken some early hits and need to develop a more stable life total.

Of course though, it synergises well with many other cards that care about lifegain. In particular, Well of Lost Dreams (you'll have the option to draw at least 1 card a turn) and Archangel of Thune (gain 3 or more life, all your creatures get a counter).

And like I said in my comment all those years ago, it works well with Serra Avatar (or Ajani's token which is effectively the same thing). One Wall doubles your life, two walls quadruple, three walls and you get 8x, four walls for 16. Though it gets even higher than that if you have Archangels of Thune out (or Cradle of Vitality, which IMO is far inferior to the new angel), given that all those instances of gaining life also result in counters, making the Avatar have more power than your life total.

@Ragamander - Glyph of Destruction can only be cast on a blocking wall, but Wall of Reverence's lifegain only triggers on *your* turn, so you'll rarely get a situation where a wall that has a Glyph cast on it will be on your side at the end of your turn (effectively, it would have to be under the opponent's control during combat and blocking one of your creatures, then you'd have to take control of it before the end step).
