Discarding and elves are some of the oldest and most annoying strategies in magic. Never before would I ever imagine the two being combined together in such a unique way. An idyllic masterpiece, 5/5 stars.

Absolutely love Nath, he's definitely one of my favourite legends. He's absolutely brutal in multiplayer when combined with Geth's Grimoire, Heritage Druid and Words of Waste - the combo's only limited by how many cards your oppponents have in hand.

He's a really good EDH general, I'll have to say.

Nath of the gilt-leaf, MEGRIM, bunch of green elves, Elvish promanade and a bunch of black discard cards.... That'd be one fun Green and Black deck for sure XD

Good if you would have bramblewood paragon and oona's blackguard in play.

Nath + Sadistic Hypnotist = Complete Lock out for everyone in EDH games. Also Nath+Words of Waste+Geth's Grimoire is the same, although if you add phyrexian altar you can go infinite in a way. After you empty everyone's hand with either of those combos you'll most likely have a lot of elves sitting around. So you play kamahl, Fist of Krosa and stack as many overruns on each other as you can.

I was playing against my friend's Skullbriar EDH with my Crosis the Purger reanimator edh when he discarded this to Fauna Shaman. I then cast Animate Dead on this from his yard and began pumping out elves while shutting off his Fauna Shaman. His general was stuck as a 2/2 because I had Jon Finkel back to block it. He eventually died to Crosis because of the stall.

Absolutely sick synergy with Mind Slash. Note that this can make people discard lands too.

Sorry if this ia stupid question, I'm new, but does anyone know whether this effect can occur multiple times per turn if you have multiples in play?

If it wasn't legendary then yes but because this is legendary you can only ever have one in play. You could only do the multiple trigger thing if you had a way to make more upkeeps (paradox haze comes to mind)

You normally can't have more than one legendary card with the same name on the battlefield, but let's ignore that for now and say you somehow had four on the table. When your upkeep comes along each Nath's first ability would trigger, and assuming your opponent had four+ cards in hand, they would end up discarding four cards. Each of your four Naths would then see each of the discards, ending up giving you SIXTEEN Elf tokens total. I've skipped some steps and order having to do with the stack that you should definitely be aware of, but that's how it would generally go down.
