Cost-efficient reanimator fuel. You can even just pitch all the cards if you want.

So perfect for Splinterfright, it's not even funny. With Deathrite Shaman, you don't even have to worry about running a little more Intants/Sorceries, 'cause even if they end up in your 'yard, they turn into a resource.

Note, picking any card is optional, which means you can choose to dump all five cards into graveyard if you have to.
The Impulse, actually, not Forbidden Alchemy A0602.

This card gives excellent green/black card advantage. Pros like me will play this card in decks with lots of instants and sorceries with flashback.

This is good, we needed some self-mill tools that weren't locked into blue.

Compare this card with Commune with Nature, a cheaper sorcery, though unable to self-mill; and with Lead the Stampede, that, while suffering from the same issues as CwN, offers the possibility of gaining card advantage. Though, I think the best choice is probably Gift of the Gargantuan, since you can get both creatures and lands with it.
If you get even a small pool of Scavengers in Limited, consider this card. It's that good.

I'm in love with this card... if they would only re-edit nimble mongoose, it would make so much sense and fun with this in modern....

Surprised no one has mentioned tarmogoyf.. 5 cards on the second turn..it's bound to be a 3/4 or higher by the time it comes out for 2..gives you a blocker so you don't get raped waiting on your doomed necromancer to become usable. :P I know it's a $100 card, but it's worth mentioning anyways if you happen to have one :o

Pointing out the fact that this sees more play than Abrupt Decay, only because of the difference in hype. With the matching themes of INN block as a whole, I'm interested in seeing how much value this card can get you.

Flavor text alludes to Treasurer Find. Unfortunately for me, I got only one of these out of an entire booster box :(

I decided to get rid of that card after getting 2 corpsejack menace, deadbridge goliath, and a beast wildmaster in a counters deck. however, it combos well with scavenging

This is my favorite way to drop a Ghoultree for . This is a five star card. Every Golgari deck should have four.

My friend ran this in a draft and managed to go 4-0:
2 x Grisly Salvage 1 x Treasured Find 2 x Pack Rat 19 x Swamp 14 x Forest 2 x Golgari Guildgate
He never even had to mull down to 4. Forget 2 Pack Rat, 38 Swamp — if you can get these with your rats, by all means play them.
keywords are "rest into your graveyard". graveyard, when used correctly, is a resource just like your hand. This is a sweet card to teach new players that dumping scavenge creatures in your graveyard while still sifting through 5 cards, for 2 mana at instant speed, makes this a good pick.
As someone who is playing a standard rites deck, this is one of the best cards in the deck, and it + mulch makes the deck run properly, as they're the cheapest cards that can put stuff into the graveyard.

In a resurrection deck, these are the things I want: 1. mana 2. creatures in my graveyard 3. resurrection spells in my hand.
if this allowed me to pull a sorcery/instant instead of a creature, it would be an ideal 2-color res card. That admittedly seems more blue/black's schtick, and Dimir Charmkiiiiiiiiind of does that, but not as oomph-fully in order to make up for doing two other awesome things. Damn you Wizards for not doing exactly what I'm thinking with every card for an absurdly low cost!
As it is, it's still quite good, and goes very well with Golgari's combination of resurrection and many low-cost creatures.

So Dredge is not Standard legal, but this with Rot Farm Skeleton, Unburial Rites, Treasured Find, Splinterfright, Ghoultree, Wreath of Geists, Boneyard Wurm, Jarad, etc. etc...

If you don't care much about the instant speed, getting a land and/or can't afford splashing black, try Commune with the Gods, which is a Sorcery for that does the same with enchantments and creatures.

The instant speed is what sets this apart from similar cards like Commune with the Gods and Mulch. Lets you save the mana for that Abrupt Decay in your hand, and still make use of the mana. Love it. 4/5
Compared to Mulch: The fact that this is instant and can dig for creatures makes it really competent in many decks. For example: Turn two you can keep mana open to Mana Leak opponents 2-drop. What am I saying, you definitely want Rune Snag if you play this :-) If there is no need to counter, just Salvage for turn 3 Tombstalker. Grisly Salvage pairs so nicely with Snapcaster mage and Eternal Witness and helps you get your guys even in control-heavy decks that have only few creatures.

Well costed? Check.
