All i have to say is "Doubling Season."

That, and, I might have this wrong, but if i read right, the tokens have the copy mechanic as well. A nice trick would be to play him, and then somehow manage to return him to your hand after he triggers, preventing a WoG from ruining your plans, and also allowing the tokens to keep on doubling.

Why does this card say that it is not playable in any formats? Is this a mistake in the database? Everywhere else I look, it says that this card is legal in the formats you would expect based on the set it's in.

super rhino deck=) I played against this guy in a casual tournament and my enemy got to 75 health with cradle of vitality but could not win due to my platnium angel. The game was declared a draw.

I can't even imagine this guy with, say, two Doubling Seasons. Turn two, you have 5. Turn three, you have 25. Turn four, you have 125.

If you could swing four Doubling Seasons and an extra turn...you would have 272 by the time you went again. Hooray tokens!

What kind of person will wait when you have 25 4/4 guys?
Just go on a semi-full scale attack and win

My first mythic rare. Slipped him right into my W/U deck. The first time I was ever able to summon him, my opponent read the card, understood the implications, and conceded. So intimidating I didn't even get to use him.

Paradox Haze's best friend. With two Hazes or more, he'll turn really nasty. For extra fun, drop a Coat of Arms, whip out your calculator, and watch your opponent dissolve into a gibbering mess of rage and bewilderment.

The Mirror-Sigil Sergeant fears only the Maelstrom Pulse, because the Pulse can wipe out him and every token on the field he created. But if your opponent doesn't have that, he better have Wrath of God or Planar Cleansing ready to go right now, or he's pretty much beaten.

This guy is awesome combined with something with devour
I got all the way up to 100 copies and used thorn thrash viashino (Devour 2)
he ended up with 200 +1/+1 counter's.
But then you have to watch out for cards that clear the board for example wrath of god.... So don't get ***y :D

@tidus360. YOU FAIL. let's see, 100 copies of mirror sigil sergeant. I can imagine no way of you playing him before, say, turn 3 or 4 if you were running green ramp with llanowar elves, and elvish piper. now, assuming you have a blue permanent immediately, he grows by powers of 2 every turn. 2 after 1 turn, 4 after 2, 8 after 3, etc. Also, 100 is not a possible outcome of this doubling, seeing as the nearest power of 2 is 128, or 2^7. That means you waited over 10 turns, MINIMUM, to get a ridiculous amount of sergeants. Then what did you do with over 400 total power in over 100 creatures, all with trample??? YOU TURNED IT INTO ONE CREATURE. You took the total power of your creatures, and cut it in half. even worse, now your opponent can play ANY DESTRUCTION SPELL THEY WANT, considering it is turn 11 or so, and completely wreck your entire strategy. congratulations on not attacking for the win on turn 6, 7, 8, or 9, you showed some brilliant restraint there. People must fear your mind games! "well, he could have won the game.... but he took his massive win condition and made it into one, easily dealt with creature." Congratulations on the EPIC FAIL. Have a nice day everyone else.

I run this with haze and savor the moment in a blue/white sm kithkin deck. Most I have gotten in play is 144. But now I won't let the count get past eight otherwise you spend your time counting out tokes. 8 is all you need.

This guy's amazing. A UW deck with a few of these bruisers would only need to dig in with something like Wall of Denial and wait (or draw) to find one. I like a game plan with that kind of effectiveness and predictability. (^^)

Great for overkill, played him alongside a wall of reverence, 3 veteran swordsmiths and a captain of the watch, an 8/5 trample, gaining me 8 life every turn..

I sat there taking damage for about 10 minutes, then attacked with 16,000 8/5 tramples for glorious overkill... 130k damage

(they reheheheally should've conceded the game by then, they were determined they could lightning bolt me to death)

Not remotely deserving of mythic rare status. Mythic rares should be obscene in some way. The mechanic is a little neat, but I would feel unpleasant casting a 6 mana 4/4 with no immediate effect on the battlefield. Laying down a mythic rare should immediately bring a grin to your face--not three turns later on the condition that you managed to protect it and not lose.

If I use a Vesuvan Doppelganger on this, would I get Vesuvan Doppelganger tokens? Would I be able to change the tokens to other creatures like a Vesuvan Doppelganger can?

Hilarious card, but unfortunately slow. Doesn't like Maelstrom Pulse or Echoing Truth or, heaven forbid, Eye of Singularity/Leyline of Singularity, but loves Coat of Arms. I really can't think of a better blue permanent than Paradox Haze to use to trigger its ability.

@bhunji42
Yes, I do believe it copies Vesuvan Doppleganger. The copy will be in the form of the Sergeant, though, with the additional text of the Doppleganger and its blue color. Trippy.

anyone who would make the copies to simply devour them is an idiot, it is a 4/4 trampler

paradox haze would just be mean, as it would count as your blue permanent and give you double upkeeps

but really, unless you are trying to 1 shot in a multiplayer game, once you got 16, you win (that is 2 turns, 4 upkeeps with one haze)

T1 borderpost
T2 island or plains
T3 dual land, drop another borderpost
T4 haze
T5 Mirror sigil
T6 2 more hazes, or another mirror (4-5 mirrors)
T7 20 mirrors if you dropped a second one, 32 if you dropped 2 hazes

you will basically win at this point, just make sure to have counter spells handy for those pesky board wipes, you are pretty safe from volcanic fallout

I played this guy in a white/blue deck. Put him out with two veteran swordsmiths and two veteran amour smiths giving him +2/+2. I also had a captain of the watch and honour of the pure for another +2/+2. Game carried on and i ended up with around 22 of them, then to finish it of a played levitation so my opponent had 22 flying 8/8 creatures coming at him, awesome. Oh and with trample too.

Pulled this guy today.

Traded him for:

1 Foil Timbermaw Larva

2 Constricting Tendrils

according to the accepted point system of my locals, this was worth it.

but what do you guys think?

slips right into my paradox haze, followed footsteps, doubling season deck

this is my favorite mythic, and is almost unbeatable as long as you have a couple meddling mages banning maelstrom pulse and damnation (or its variants)

if you have haze out can the ones that came into play on the first upkeep attack. I was never sure about beginning of turn / upkeep rulings

Magic isn't always about winning
My friend has a mirror-sigil deck and attacked for over 1200 damage in a turn (somethin' about a bunch of sergeants and a kicked rite of replication on a captain of the watch)
Sure he could have won several turns earlier, but where's the fun?

Expensive to cast, but follow this up with a kicked Rite of Replication the next turn and you've got 7 4/4s with trample (I always try to protect the original with a Whispersilk Cloak).

Add some juicy equipment and season to taste.

paradox haze works better than doubling season this time cause the copy of the first upkeep produces a token too in the second. so one guy would produce 3 others in two upkeeps instead of two in one upkeep a turn. and paradox haze is a blue permanent! and a lot cheaper.

Most people either say Paradox Haze or Doubling Season. I want to say put 4 of both on the battlefield! Things are gonna get crazy, out of only one Mirror-Sigil, you'd get a grand 1,419,857 token on your next upkeep. Fun stuff, I say, too bad the game would usually already ended before getting to 4 of any.

@rinoh20 - I, personally, am getting tired of every ability finding its way in to white. In the recent sets, white has had access to counter spells (albeit not as strong as blue - it's there), tons of control (like Ethersworn Canonist, Silence etc,), the best removal that was available in standard (Oblivion Ring, Path to Exile, Journey to Nowhere) and this wouldn't be a problem if they weren't printed en masse. White doesn't deserve trample this easily. Bant Battlemage giving trample is fine because it requires a color that thematically has it. Conditional trample could even be acceptable. Why is it alright for white to get these off color pie abilities but people shit bricks when red gets back Lightning Bolt, or Blue gets a competent beater (Sphinx of Jwar Isle)? The only reason white hasn't been completely insane in the newest set is because it's Mirroden and that level of insanity is reserved for artifacts. I'd be fine with power creep if it didn't seem so damn one sided in every other set.

I don't know why people are whining about the Trample ability.
This is a Bant card, and Bant has W/U/G in their shard.
So, this card has:
A white creature, considering the mana cost;
Trample, a green ability;
Another ability that requires a blue permanent to be present.
So, no, Trample on any ol' white creature is sorta weird,
But Trample on a Bant creature is far from it.

@Drewsel...IMO, the horde of trampling rhino's sounds a little more of an epic win. Especially since his dino that is eating all the rhinos (a funny visual indeed) is pooping half their power out.

I will defend him tho, in that he did what was fun for him, similar to me using last-ditch effort in my saproling deck instead of jsut swinging(or comboing utopia mycon and door to tomorrow, or just building up, destroying all their creatures with deathspore and waiting for them to conceed when i start just writing down my token count on a piece of paper each turn)

In casual, play how you want.

@Tommy9898 - "Ugh, I'm so sick of everyone point out how good Doubling Season "combos" with every single token maker ever. THINK HARDER!!!!!!!"

Parallel Lives! Am I thinking hard enough yet?
No? How about Paradox Haze?
What? Still too easy? Vesuvan Doppelganger! Can I go home yet?
No? No?!
...
Fine then. The gauntlet has been thrown down.
Thoughtlace, Painter's Servant, or Shifting Sky for greater self-sufficiency.
Diplomatic Immunity for endurance.
Dreams of the Dead for back-up. (Note: The copies will not have the cumulative upkeep.)
Rhys the Redeemed for overkill.

Further examination of Paradox Haze reveals that you can Mirrorweave all your white weenies into Mirror-Sigil Sergeants before your second upkeep.
Further examination of Vesuvan Doppelganger reveals that not only will it become a self-sufficient Mirror-Sigil Sergeant, but you can also stack its copy-target-creature upkeep trigger above its duplicate-self upkeep trigger, allowing you to make your shiny new Vesuvan Doppelganger token a copy of any creature right from the get-go. Cool, but not necessarily all that useful when your alternative is MOAR RHINOS!

To be honest, this isn't that good of a card, you're likely to get removed before it does anything, but that's true for almost every card that wins games individually without a response.

That being said, this card is what a mythic should be, needs a specific deck build, it has a really cool splashy ability, isn't a utility, and is very flavorful, a perfect mythic to have in Bant, especially with the flavor text win

The problem with all the combos with him is that it's just too slow. He costs six mana to begin with; then, no matter what you do, you have to wait one turn until your next upkeep, and another turn before any of the copies can actually attack (since they enter with summoning sickness themselves.) Even then, all but the most extreme (and card-intensive and therefore impractical) combos aren't going to produce enough copies to kill your opponent for another turn or two. And, of course, one timely piece of removal can stop the whole thing before it starts.

Everyone says Doubling Season or Paradox Haze, but the thing is, you first have to ask "should I use this card?" And truthfully, here are much better and much faster things to combo with Doubling Season or Paradox Haze than this.

For those that don't see where the white is coming from on this card, you have to remember that white is the army color, the color that cares about community and working together. This card builds an army (white), using clones of itself (blue), and then tramples over the opposition (green). This card really is a Bant mythic, not a mono-white one. Just ignore the cost.
