QAZAZ, that won't work. Wild Pair requires that you cast/play the spell, but T&N puts them onto the battlefield/into play. Still, this is a very strong card, used in plenty of mono-Green beatdown and infinite combo decks.
Trolls were in Alpha (220), just not a major creature type . Mirrodin only added 4 more to the long list.

Phage says that "If you didn't cast it from your hand, you lose the game." Tooth and Nail says "Put up to two creature cards from your hand onto the battlefield."
Putting cards onto the battlefield is not the same thing as casting them. If you Tooth and Nailed for a Phage, you'd lose.

It's ok to put Phage if you put Platinum Angel as well. Although, if opponent removes the angel instantly the triggered ability of Phage will kill you.

10/4/2004 It is only considered "cast from your hand" if you cast it as a spell from your hand. Putting it onto the battlefield from your hand using a spell or ability will cause you to lose the game.

Well I used this yesterday in EDH to pull Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur and Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger. One of my opponents literally screamed, another buried his face in his hands, the third one's face looked gradually sicker as he read the two cards and the fourth one just nodded and played a Damnation on his turn. I still got seven cards out of it so it was just me and him and the other three died pretty quickly.
This is an autoinclude in any EDH deck running green.

We've got confirmation that this will be a rare (not mythic; just rare) in Modern Masters. Should be a little easier to get your hands on one soon.

I have done that quite a few times actually... Though it doesn't technically count, as if I don't win immediately, I win shortly after. Usually because I don't have all the combo pieces, just enough that I can get the rest of them from after resolving. Rune-Scarred Demon is generally the target for those scenarios.
That being said, pulling Palinchron and Vorinclex into infinite mana, and using Laboratory Maniac, and Blue Sun's Zenith for the win in EDH Multiplayer is perhaps my favorite way to win. Ever.
