The card drawing ability puts this card over the top. Yes, it IS cmc=7, but you're going to pay 5 to 6 mana for most 5/5 creatures w/o any special abilities. So, the extra 1 to 2 mana for (in most cases) drawing several cards is well worth it, IMO.

This is absolutely amazing in elf decks. By the time you cast this (usually turn 4-6ish), you're drawing maybe 10-11 cards.

This is a must-have for any deck that deploys a large number of creatures, yet will run out of steam at the first sign of Wrath of God. Refills your hand and lets you keep going even after a huge blow like that.

@plant

I don't know about you but I don't think I would ever pay 5 mana for a 5/5 with no abilities, and most definitely I would never pay 6

Regardless an ability like this can become very nice in decks with a lot of green token generators like saprolings and elves.

It's a good card, but if you get hit by a wrath of god it's too late to play it, and if you play it before the wrath of god your opponent may choose to hold it back until you've played some of those cards you just drew.

That said, this has the potential to get you a lot of very useful card drawing. I find that elves tend to win very fast (before, or about at the time, you played out most of your hand, so I wouldn't play this in a good elf deck. I intend to play this in a saprolings and fungus deck I'm going to make soon. That deck might take a bit longer to really get going, and this might be just the thing for when I have played most of my hand.

The art sorta resembles Reaper King's art. Fat brother or something?

Anyway, it's a nice draw engine in green decks with a lot of small creatures coming out the wazoo. Y'know, like elf decks.

I Wave, I draw my deck, I Wave again. Oops, I decked myself.

wish it was a 1/3 for 4, or something else smaller and less expensive. I don't want to pay for a 5/5! I just want to draw!

As if there wasn't already enough incentive to build a token deck.

Myojin of Life's Web
Nough said.

I'm wondering though, I used this with my myojin while I had 2 Garruk's Packleader out, would I be able to put down the cards I draw from the packleader due to putting down creatures from my hand with the myojin's ability?

@languill

No you can not. The ability that made you draw those cards was triggered by the resolution of the effect letting you put creatures down.

The 5/5 body and the lack of any additional abilities is kinda weak for seven mana. Still, it's good for token swarm decks, for decks that reanimate a lot, and for decks that can flicker stuff in and out. Also it's a huge frog thingy.

Now that Prime Time's been banned in EDH, this guy is Avenger of Zendikar's new Tooth and Nail buddy. Or should I say old buddy, since he really should have been the better choice for that combo anyway.

If you change its subtype to Hound, congratulations! You have a Regal Beagle.

If you just want to abuse its bombtastic effect, shuffle it into your Roon of the Hidden Realm deck.

He’s the King of the 10 Minute Turn, and his groovy art celebrates how nature can succeed with synergistic strength in numbers, not just big claws or venomous fangs. My main cards can go down in any order, but they include Elvish Archdruid to get you the 7 mana, then Genesis Wave, Elvish Promenade or Ambush Commander to get him 10 creatures to draw 10 cards.

Once you start slapping down cards, while your friends go off to make popcorn and belittle your ancestry, with any luck, Soul of the Harvest will already be down, letting you draw another card each time a creature on the battlefield, or Karametra, God of Harvests (who is an indestructible creature now FOR SURE), will let you search for and deploy another white or green land, which of course instantly becomes an Elf due to Promenade.

It takes about as long to do all this as to make stove top popcorn, but when you’re done, of course, your Elvish Archdruid and Priest of Titania guys are now tapping for 18 mana each.

The salty hot garlic butter on this popcorn is Wellwisher, so you can tap your new Elf Friends for 18 life, and Omnath, Locus of Mana, who can absorb that extra muscle and block their Colossus of Akros, or probably somewhere in all that Card Draw Carnage Joraga Warcaller or Ezuri, Renegade Leader will have popped out, and you can say “winner doesn’t have to clean up the dishes”.

Don’t forget a Swiftfoot Boots which you can move from creature to creature as it hits the board for one mana each so they all have haste and hexproof. Warcaller can be kicked to +10 and he’ll make all your elves +10, or Ezuri can be tapped to make all your Elves +3 with trample. Partayyyyy Garth!!

I really like Glissa, the Traitor, but her individual prowess is getting obsolete in this Elf Deck of Synergy.

In a Kruphix, God of Horizons EDH deck, you've got mana for all kinds of shenanigans with this guy. Make a giant pile of slime with Gelatinous Genesis, then Regal. Bounce him back to your hand with Aether Mutation, get 7 green Saprolings, re-cast.
