I think it's a rule that you have to call this one Xenagod.

I wonder if this will be something that Nicol Bolas attempts to do in the future, Maybe he will be in JitN.
Very strong Enchantment, albeit less powerful than he could have been. *Wish he cost 4*That creature boost has the potential to win games in a swing, almost a must pick up for any RG EDH player

This card really reminds me of Sarkhan Vol. The haste is fantastic for R/G decks (obviously), especially if you're packing something like Kalonian Hydra.

If you don't realize that Xenagos has an ability that is Berserk and can be used on the same turn as you play him, then Phenax must have done something to your head cause this card us pure AWESOME.

Nice ability especially with access to fire-breathing and trample. One of the better Gods in the set. Just wish that he could target himself with his ability, the "another" part of the next prevents him from entering as a 12/5 indestructible creature with haste if you already have enough devotion.

Devotion for the two-color gods is easier to reach than for the monos, at least in two-color decks. Xenagod here is easily the best, narrowly beating out Mogis. How does devotion work with cards like Burning-Tree Emissary? Does the emissary give 4 devotion to red and green or only 2?

Nice! Shame his iconic-looking weapon didn't get the THEROS-God-treatment, though.

Berserk every turn, but don't sacrifice the creature when done

...This is good. Contends with Thassa for the best God. It has 2 abilities where the other minor gods have one. (haste granting is a second, but still entirely relevant ability).

Burning Tree Emisary would only give 2 devotion as far as xenagos is concerned.

So is Gruul finally going to be a thing in Standard? If it isn't after this, it never will be.

I know the mana cost is a bit of a stretch, but follow this with and Aurelia for a quick win.

Another target that my Lifebane Zombies can snatch. They got hungry and upset that there weren't enough juicy and expensive Green cards to eat in the last few months.

Story/flavor bonus points if you get this on the battlefield using Xenagos, the Reveler's ultimate.

People keep leaving these strange EDH comments like "he can target himself with his ability and swing for a lot! wow!" Am I the only one that wants to drop a trampling, flying hellkite tyrant, make him gigantic, and swing with haste? I feel like that is what should be happening when you use Xenagos in Commander.

Going to be a rather interesting Commander, especially when played with his big buddies from Zendikar. Can you say 'Annihilator'?

Opened this guy at the prerelease. Utterly bonkers, and that was without him becoming a creature. He really loves to be paired with Archetype of Aggression.

So, this is probably a dumb question, but you can have both Xenagod and Xenagos the planeswalker out on the field at the same time, right? If I understand the rules correctly, legendary and planeswalker types don't get in each other's way.

Though I guess it does deserve a facepalm for canon shenanigans.

@Darthparallax Yeah, you're definitely missing some outrageously obvious Boros stuff...

you know, RubbleBelt Raiders and Domri Rade would make an excellent combo with this creature. Along with Hellkite Tyrant, id definitely be confident.

And lo, Xenagos ascended to godhood, and the revelry of the satyr orgies did increase tenfold. All throughout Theros, bands of satyrs engaging in revels could be heard chanting "Hail Xenagod, god of teh lulz!" And Xenagod smiled upon his kin with a smug, cheese eating grin and he sang...

@Hunter06 I was just thinking the same thing. After checking the backstory (because it's not everyday a less notable planeswalker suddenly turns into a god) it says the conditions of the transformation are a mystery at this time. Also it mentions how he became aware of his insignificance after planeswalking around a bit. Knowing how NB has made a disciple of Sarkhan, RG is clearly a color combo he could be considered affiliated with. If Bolas is behind it all, could we have at least one 3+ color god or, heck, a new Bolas planeswalker? He's been a little too quiet IMO...

@TexasDice, Xenagos does target: "...target creature you control gains haste ...". So it doesn't work with Polis Crusher

My day was officially made.

Xenagos only gives Kalonian Hydra +4/+4 on the turn you drop it, but that should be enough.

Compare to In the Web of War. With In the Web of War it's implied that someone would use a token strategy to get as many pumps as possible, with this you can play big fliers and swing in for massive haste damage off the bat. Not only that but, he can be a creature too sometimes.

OK- what if Xengaos is actually just an Innocent Victim in all of this? We could be blowing this 'Stole Power from the Gods' thing waaayyy out of proportion-- Imagine:
You're just a really fun guy, a party animal in school, and all your friends just LIKE you.

Nex thing you know- they start a cult around you and start sacrificing goats and having orgies in your honor. Well, wouldn't you be tempted to just kind of....live it up and let them carry on?

I see why this guy and Mogis, God of Slaughter are the only gods that have fanatics. They are the most badass, destructive, overpowered gods and both of the fanatics are as awesome as their chosen deities.

This guy is a monster in EDH especially as a commander. He instantly takes over the game and if you do not have a repeat way to keep him off the board he just takes over games winning them over and over and over again. Combined with Strionic Resonator it can turn a paltry 2/2 into a 8/8 every single turn for a mere two mana per turn. He turns Balefire Dragon into a one sided blasphemous act the turn it comes out. if your building an army he turns Wild Beastmaster with any counters into a instant game winner. I have played against six commander decks using him in MTGO so far and each time they won so quickly it seemed like the rest of the players didn't even get to play. Very very good for aggressive players.

Xenagos became the god Revels and celebrated by peeing bonfires. FLAME ON!!!!

I've had the (mis)fortune of having this party animal staring me down across the table...Any deck with him on the field starts to hit like a train. I knew on paper a Berserk every combat would be crazy, but when I actually saw it in action, I was blown away. EDH, standard, whatever you use him in will benefit.

EDIT: Whoops, I fucked that up.

Apparently Xenagos is of the Rakdos school of festivities. You could say he's the DEATH of the party.

In more practical news: goes well with Nova Chaser.

his ability is literally the same thing the party god gave to jake in that episode

He's gonna get his @ss kicked by the new ajani, mentor of heroes that has been shown like elspeth isn't gonna be able to do it

On the simple search page, there are two "interesting" searches: Gods and Planeswalkers. Xenagos is the only one to appear on both, making him, by definition, the most "interesting" card in MtG (sorry Jace).

If I got the mtg lore correctly, Xenagos partied so hard he became a God.

I had 4 life, and my opponent had 13 life. He had to get rid of my Boros Reckoner and he had this and Polukranos out.

That fact that this isn't a may ability hurt a bit.

Step 1. Savageborn Hydra.
Step 2. +1/+1 counters to the moon.
Step 3. Whip out your trusty old legendary enchantment creature planeswalker god.

Correct me if i'm wrong but multiple combat phases means multiple pumps from this guy, no?

If that's the case, then aurelia should have his babies and aggravated assault is the new party enchantment

PARTY PARTY PARTY

I've learned that Xenagod is an absolutely brutal commander. Having all your creatures come in able to attack with double their power is nuts, and you can even just slap some haste onto creatures with tap abilities if needed. Some of my favorites to use his ability on are Heroes' Bane (double his power twice!), Molimo (trample is awesome!), Terastodon (will no longer be killed by the three elephants you gave your opponent!) and of course alternate commanders Ruric Thar and Borborygmos.

Gods hate foxes.

My favorite BotG God, both flavor and mechanic wise. They killed this guy off way too soon, he could have made a great future antagonist. We don't get a lot of gruul aligned villains.

Card wise, he's a powerhouse in EDH. Tough to get rid of, amazing damage ramp and haste makes Xenagos a superb commander choice or include in any creature heavy deck. I wish he had only cost four, but in these colors it shouldn't be difficult to cast him by turn four or earlier anyway. 4/5.

Also, I kinda hope from a storyline perspective that a piece of him makes it to the underworld, just so that when Elspeth gets there, he's like, "So how'd working with Heliod work out for you?"
