I like its Black favour. It is made against its destiny enemy (Green and White). The evasion will enable the damage to get through the fatties, while the player will be defenseless with his suicide fighting technique.

I think this is possibly the best of the enemy-color hosers. It hits white and green where it hurts them the most: the creatures in their hand they haven't cast yet (and now never will). It's a strong, evasive attacker in a color where attacking for the win is actually a solid back-up plan in most cases. 3 power also trades with lots of things, so it works both ways.

Prehaps this and the Paladin are what Esper needs to be a thing...

A close second in the enemy color hate creatures. This might be maindeckable in zombie decks against pretty much anything. It hits Junk, Jund, and Naya where it hurts.

I really wanted this to be GOOD! But that toughness...damn it. It is not bad by any means though. Card disadvantage on turn three is still effective.

Going straight into my modern zombie sideboard. Hits 'goyf, resto, finks, Melira, and more. And since my aether vial sits at 3 for my lords anyway, he might as well have flash. Great new zombie.

Nice power on this guy. For a while I thought he only had 2, 3 really pushes him. Pretty strong!

Solid sideboard, possible mainboard due to strong power cost ratio. I really like that they're bringing color hate again in a more prolific way. It felt to me like they laid off for awhile (maybe I'm wrong) but it's essential IMO to the game.

Funny how the best cards against Reanimator are within its colors.

It's like Vendilion Clique, except nowhere near as good and also black. It's still a very good card, though I don't think it will see play. At three mana, it comes down a turn later than Voice of Resurgence, which is certainly annoying. That said, it can still get rid of Thragtusk prior to rotation, so it may possibly see some play. That said, it is my second favorite of the cycle, after Mindsparker.

As good as Vendilion Clique is, I think one should note that this often gives you a +1 card advantage, where Clique never does. Against the right deck, this is a Liliana's Specter with a better body and a better ability.

Personally, I think he is the strongest from the "M14 enemy color hate creature" cycle. He offers immediate card advantage and solid evasion. But he is sideboard-only, unlike Witchstalker and Fiendslayer Paladin.

Thragtusk killed the zombies....and now this guys making them comeback with a vengeance.

Well, he is a 3/1 intimidate for three. The average common/uncommon three power evasion guy costs five mana. So that's quite a deal.
The triggered ability is super narrow, but if it hits, it's obviously pretty good.
As often, it makes you realize how huge the power difference between the different rarities is. Compare this to Cyclops Tyrant from the same set. Both are 3 power evasive guys. This guy is rare, so he costs 3 and has an upside. The Tyrant is common, so it costs six and has an additional drawback.
Pulled two of these at a prerelease, one was a foil and it looks amazing. But it's a great card too. For another great art and function card see fiendslayer paladin

This guy's pretty freaking awesome and should be in the mainboard in a lot of black decks. Even if your opponent isn't playing green or white, you still get a peek at their hand.

With all of the ETB abilities running rampant, most of the creatures that are worth playing for those those abilities are either white, green, or both. Really, REALLY good sideboard card if you're running black.

Only Grixis laughs at him. And guess what shard is garbage right now? *sign*
Well, Lifebane Zambambo. I like him. He hits everything in Standard. The body itself dies easily, but that's fine, Gutshot doesn't exist anymore. 4 of 5.

Nice art. Strong ability vs rival colors. Best in a sideboard, but good enough to main deck. 3 power with evasion for 3 mana is good. 4.5/5

3/1 evasion with powerful card advantage for 3? And this card doesn't have 4+ rating? /facepalm :-P
A very solid card, and likely to be a staple of standard sideboards until 2014 rotates out.

Look, it's been mentioned before, but getting a 3/1 intimidate for 3 cmc is fantastic just by itself and makes this main board worthy. Doesn't even matter if you aren't playing a deck playing green or white, when it hits the board, you get to look at your opponent's hand either way. That's a huge advantage just by itself, and everyone seems to be overlooking that. Against the decks it's strong against, clear 5/5. Against anything else, 4/5.

3/1 with intimidate of a well-supported tribe for 3? Good deal. 3/1 with intimidate of a well-supported tribe that gives you a peek at the opponent's hand? Hell yes. 3/1 with intimidate of a well-supported tribe that gives you a peek at the opponent's hand and exiles a big green fatty(Worldspine Wurm is a pretty popular win-con around here)? It sucks I can only have one. I don't include vanilla creatures of any sort, regardless of costing, in my decks, but even if this just gave me a look at their hand I'd be adding it.

In fact, the main matchup that he isn't very good against is mono black zombies :P

Against W and/or G: It's obviously devastating.
Red might hurt it. Burn = bye-bye.
Perfect sideboard card. But, at it's best, it's game-changing. Definitely 5/5.
But it's a great card too.
