Just giving another guy double strike is decent. Coming with a 2/2 body that ALSO has double strike makes me think this is good enough for standard.

Found my replacement for Mirran Crusader when it rotates. Until then, I'll have to find room for both!

This is really, really cool.

Drop this turn 4 after dropping Geist of Saint Traft and watch them get a faceful of a 4/4 Angel with doublestrike.

This is so awesome! And it's a knight? Sweet!

This card plus Invisible Stalker and Silver-Inlaid Dagger equals a whopping 8 damage from a single swing of stalker by turn 4 at the earliest.

@nopemx6 Actually if you simply decide not to pair the silverblade paladin to anything when it etb than when the angel hits the board it'll be free to pair up. Which does indeed produce an angel with double strike.

A fantastic addition to Knight tribal, and one of Soulbond's poster children. Double Strike is already a scary ability, but giving it to two creatures? For 1WhiteWhite? And one of those could be a Wolfir Silverheart or a Pathbreaker Wurm? I rarely got the chance to play the Paladin at the prerelease, but he won the game every time he hit the board.

Leads to a lot of free wins with Boros Aggro in block (and maybe even standard) with stuff like:
T1: Champion of the Parish
T2: Gather the Townsfolk, attack for 3 with the Champion
T3: This guy, bond it to the Champion, attack for 10 with the Champion/Tokens
T4: Angel of Jubilation/Hellrider, get in there for a million

@nopemx6:

Actually, MyHappySandwich's plan works just fine. Drop the Geist of Saint Traft on turn 3, and make your opponent hate you more by dropping this fellow turn 4 and NOT soulbonding to the Geist. When Geist attacks, this triggers the 4/4 Flying Angel to enter the battlefield tapped and attacking, which triggers another "dost thou desire to soul bond?" trigger. This time, you gleefully accept, producing your turn four 4/4 Flying, Double Strike Angel of doom swinging in.

The best part is that once the angel token is exiled at the end of combat, Mr. Silverblade Paladin here is now unpaired, and free to be paired with the next 4/4 Flying Angel produced on the next attack, and then on the Second Main Phase of turn 5 with your new jerk of a 5/3 Flying, Indestructible, Double Strike Angelic Overseer (Yay for this guy being a Human!).

...Unless you were just saying you wanted Taft to survive due to Double Strike, in which case sometimes you might :P

So yeah, props MrHappySandwich. Incoming UW Soulbond deck... Sounds fun!

Excellent card. So very affordable. Yes, pairing him with the big green baddies is the obvious choice. Pairing him with the Red vamps in the set like Havengul Vampire makes them all like Markov Blademaster.

The Scars/Innistrad standard pairing for me would be Accorder Paladin. On turn 4, you'll be swinging for 12 damage total, +whatever battle cry did for your other creatures.

I know he isn't pro blk/grn or anything, but is that reeeally what made you play Mirran Crusader?? lol, whoa. Is there a ruling Guru in the house?? If so, excuse my ignorance but what happens if you glued this to MC? My guess is, it only gives the paladin 2x strike and not that plus quad strike for MC lol Dub strike is unstackable, correct?

I CAN USE MIND CONTROL TO STEER MY HORSE, I DON'T NEED NO STINKIN REINS, AND I WILL RAPE YOU WITH A SCYTHE THATS WAY TOO BIG FOR ME TOO BE ACTUALLY CARRYING, ESPECIALLY WHILE ON HORSEBACK!!!!

I do like the artwork, just thought it really needed to be made fun of.

Also, just love the card in general.

Imma leave now....

Uhhhhh willieskyeyes, firstly, knights steer their mounts with their knees, their horses are highly trained and respond to shifting pressure on their sides. Secondly that is a halbard, not a scythe, and it is currently behind held like that because he looks to be initiating a charge. Most knights had a side arm like a sword because lances are a little difficult to use after the initial charge (you don't have enough space to swing or thrust and people have a nasty ha bit of getting stuck on them and breaking them off. If we are going to be talking about the size of weapons on horseback, have you ever SEEN a couched lance? The only thing wrong with this picture is that he should be holding a more traditional lance and maybe have a helmet on / more armouring for the horse

At first glance at the art, it looks like this guy's doing Riverdance if you don't register the horse.

this should just give first strike not double strike. the red one hanweir lancer should have the double strike. (if this happens, their rarity should be switched)
white has too much of the good stuff.

I gotta admit, this is like banding DONE RIGHT. double strike on two creatures? not that bad. just got to make sure one doesn't die, and you're alright.

With trample and lifelink, GG.

Inquisitor's Flail lets this one guy, a lowly 2/2, hit for 8.

Bonding him to a Wolfir Silverheart means they could do 18 and 32 damage, if each were equipped with the Flail.

This guy is like an equipment with equip 0. I swear I feel it every time he comes into play, he should be "Creature - Equipment".

There is your 2/2, 3/3 critter and suddenly this dude comes and attaches himself from behind saying "Yay, let's go" and the other is like "WTF, where did you come from? What are you doing back there?"

But really, he feels more like an equipment than a creature on its own. Even more, he alone sucks, just a 2/2 for 3 mana, good for nothing, just like an equipment sitting there waiting for someone for him to be "attached" to.

But yes, a hell of a card, turns any knight into a Mirran Crusader all of a sudden.

4/5 because he alone sucks, 3 mana for a 2/2 with nothing special.

There are two keywords more than ANY OTHER than a Kaalia of the Vast deck NOT only really wants, but are also somewhat hard to find in a cheap enough, aggressive enough way if you neglect to think long enough and wrongfully conclude that all of your creatures must be the appropriate Tribal Type:

Haste, and Double Strike

We have more than enough good equipment and also natural creatures that possess Protection from X, Shroud, Hexproof, and even Indestructible is not that bad given Darksteel Plate, Elspeth, Knight-Errant and oh yeah, Avacyn, Angel of Hope exist. Basilisk Collar brings the highly coveted Deathtouch+Lifelink combination to the table. While artifacts aren't as good as flat Lords if you want a whole army set up, they sure aren't bad for always making sure your Champion Beatstick has what it needs to breakface, which is the more likely situation for Kaalia- overcommit to the board, and someone is going to be experiencing Nuclear Annihilation either way. So what does Akroma's Memorial NOT do?

The funny thing about Double Strike is that..well...it's good. REALLY good. Maybe better than Deathtouch-good. Maybe together with Haste, better than Deathtouch+Lifelink-good. Anger is a card that gives all Red/X decks consistent access to Haste in the way Goblin Chieftain gives it to Goblin decks, but no such card exists to spread Double Strike around quite so easily...

...Until now.
Consider that Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is well, a Dragon, and that you can give him Double Strike through Red or White. Haste and Double Strike are common to find on ''cards in general'', but NOT common to find on ''easy-to-cuve, aggressive'' cards. They are not abilities that are easy to grant. You can find INDIVIDUAL creatures all over Gatherer with these amazing combat abilities, but there isn't really a Basilisk Collar for them and there definitely isn't an Intangible Virtue for them (pumps, easy-cast, and ''lords'' the ability to everyone). Goblins get Haste more easily, but Angels, Demons, and Dragons?

I can say with confidence that Silverblade Paladin *probably* ought to be considered about the closest we will get to "Anger for Double Strike", and especially since you can see that many other cards provide practically every other keyword you could want, but VERY few Dragons, Angels, or Demons are permitted to naturally posses Double Strike, that Silverblade Paladin will surely be a feature in many Kaalia decks, not just to be a 3-mana tempo card, but also because it's actually in it's own right as good as a Shivan Dragon at least or more.

So if you pair this with another one do they get quadruple strike?
Seth346
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
If you think he is bad when alone... Think again! When will he ever be alone!!! You take something like sublime and pair with just 2 other people and a selesnia charm or rancor gets you a turn 5 win automatically... Not to many decks run searing spears and if they do that's a card for a card and waste one of their burns. Paired with champion after playing turn two creature you swing for 6 on turn 3 plus your two drop on turn four play something like mayor then swing, announce 12 dmg coming to your face if no blocks they block champ and you play selesnia charm for 14 damage and you win or with rancor and another one drop on turn two or angel

★☆☆☆☆ (1.5/5.0) (2 votes)
OK, as someone who actually plays Knights Tribal, albeit in a modern format, I would like to say that this card is... underwhelming. If nothing else, it should be an uncommon. As a rare, it should only have been printed if costing 2 white. It is a 2/2 for three mana which only has double strike under the terms of a particularly gimmicky mechanic.

Accorder Paladin and Precinct Captain pair up quite well with this guy. Swing for six or likely get 2 tokens for 4 damage.
