In find it interesting that the "As long as you have 30 or more life" clause is still being used.
Chalice of Life uses an "If you have 10 or more life than your starting life total"
No burn that's commonly played that kills him? Mizzium Mortars.
That said, he's a powerhouse against some decks even without his overkill win-more ability.

Yeah, that ability is win-more in text form. I guess if you somehow played a Sorin's Vengeance at the start of the game, he's good? Yeah, definitely more for EDH, and I'd honestly prefer other stuff to him.

Haha, it has protection from Orzhov. In any case, run with Sorin Markov in EDH. It's crazy good even as a 4/4, though, it might be worth running alongside or instead of Obzedat, Ghost Council in some decks.

I've had multiple games where I Was at one life and my opponent was at 20 or more and I ended up winning. Mostly playing mono-red "control" but this is the beauty of Magic... anything can happen.

You know, I've been thinking. Why Blood Baron of Vizkopa, not say, Orzhova, or Utvara, or whatever? Well, because of Vizkopa Guildmage. You got him to a 10/10 with extort! Good job. You swiiing aaaaand Ornithopter token. NICE. With Vizkopa Guildmage (second ability) when you swing, it's an instant win. If they block, you gain that life, so they lose. But if they don't, they lose anyways. GG.
Also, this is a sweet card. Practically can only be removed by burn or Blue's stalling techniques.
The conditions are hard to meet, but lifelink and some fantastic protections make this guy worth it before they're met too. He has a lot of potential, I'm interested to see if he'll see play along with all the other really good 5 drops.

You know, this art looks like it could have been intended for a Planeswalker card. Although Domri Rade showed that not every Planeswalker card will have definite objects "coming out" of the artwork onto the card, I could see the bottom of his staff (or whatever that thing is) and maybe the top of the chair in the background coming out. I just love the way this card's art is so smug and delighted.
As for function, I really enjoy the card, and I'm ignoring the last half. Adding the last half as just a nice "What If?" just solidifies it's coolness in my eyes.
The second ability effectively reads to me "As long as your opponent has 10 or less life, this card is probably gonna kill them next time."

Awesome flavor in multiplayer.

Love this guy! Pro removal and with Nocturnis he becomes a 6/5 Flyer with his other abilities. Add Sorin to the mix and he just gets bigger. One of the best Vampires printed IMO.
See this as a 4/4 Lifelinker with protection from black and white because the other ability is a bad winmore. If you're over 30 life, your opponent is under 10 life and you have a good creature out, you're probably going to win whether he had that ability or not.
Still a 4/4 Lifelinker with protection from most removal is very useful.

This guy is very resistant to removal. He has got a hardy 4 toughness which makes him burn resistant, and cant be targeted by Oblivion Ring or Murder. Plus he has lifelink which can add up.

Its nice how his last ability combines the ability of caring if your opponent is bleeding, like the Zendikar vampires (Vampire Lacerator, Guul Draz Vampire) with the white Ascendants which become significantly better when you're at 30 life (Serra Ascendant, Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant ). Really makes it flavorful for him to be WB.
I still don't understand the protection from his own guild, though.

I totally didn't see the EDH connection with Sorin Markov's -3 until today. Five-drop, six-drop, everyone's dead pretty much, lol, and in black you can tutor these up pretty easily if you want.

You can't slap on a Gift of Orzhova, Holy Mantle, or Murder Investigation because he has pro black and white.
Great mythic, probably the best Block Constructed card in Return to Ravnica block.
