I love wurms no end, and I'm glad they're getting some love in Innistrad despite their poor thematic fit. Pathbreaker Wurm follows Craw Wurm and Yavimaya Wurm in the trend of big 6/4 wurms that cost . While Craw Wurm is vanilla and Yavimaya Wurm has trample, Pathbreaker Wurm can give itself and another creature trample, and that makes it superior. Pair it up with a Plated Slagwurm and go to town! Do note that you won't get trample without another creature on the battlefield, but if you're playing and you've only got one creature, you're doing it wrong.
Wurms fit the flavor perfectly. As you can see, wurm-surfing is the Innistrad equivalent to bull-riding.

For a common he is quite good and playable in limited too. But for constructed he is just too crappy.

I enjoy how the artwork depicts what appears to be an elf just hitching along for the ride (thus giving them trample). Whenever I pair Pathbreaker Wurm with something, I feel as though it is also just riding the wurm even when it's something as ridiculous as Rabid Wombat. Great flavour and an excellent soulbond mechanic for {G} that is both functional and full of flavour.

Soulbond with a Mad Prophet or Blind Seer for the full Dune combo
Which reminds me -- have any Magic artists gotten 'wurm' right even once in the past ten years? Worms are tubes with jaws at one end, wurms are dragons without wings...

Bellowing Tanglewurm is an alternative to this guy; but they both have their upsides. This one's being extra power and pretty sweet flavor.

This was made to combine with Wolfir Silverheart. In green there is a ton of ramp so you can get Wolfir on turn 3, this on turn 4 making Wolfir an 8/8 trampler, then do 18 trample damage with both on turn 5.
