Good old Saffi. I can't believe she got her own card, and in my colors, too! Ach!
And that's a really sweet ability. I think it's more cleric-like, but whatever. It would be nice if she could use her ability on herself, but I guess that wouldn't make much sense.

"Ach? Hans, run! It's the Lhurgoyf!" -Saffi Eriksdotter, last words
Her ability is cool and she is not behind the curve for a 2cmc creature. Casting her first makes casting an auto-target creature, like Tolsimer Wolfblood, Rhys the Redeemed or Elvish Piper, feel much better. I love throwing a couple in my G/W decks just to enjoy playing a legend or two. Her ability never makes me regret having her in play. Too bad it doesn't stop Path to Exile.

@Gongshowninja: The shepherd only returns to your hands card that were put into your graveyard from the battlefield. It doesn't return Wrath to your hand at all, because Wrath was on the stack but never on the battlefield.
"Not again... Ach! Hans, run It's the Lhurgoyf" "Ach! Hans, Run!", Lhurgoyf, Revenant

For those of you who aren't savvy with flavour texts:
This is Hans saying "Saffi, wait for me...", after she runs from the Lhurgoyf (read its flavour text).

@gongshowninja: You're on the right path, but can't use any Wrath effect for that combo... at least noncreature-wise.
What about Magus of the Disk? Using Twilight Shepard and Saffi, and maybe throw in Amulet of Vigor so Magus comes into play untapped? Would that work? Might be too much setup.
Interesting that they made a card after a named character who's only mention in the flavour involved being devoured by a Lhurgoyf. I think Time Spiral block will always be my favourite block because of all of the references to past cards.

She's so very cute! I love the card design too.
And I love to say her name. "Saffi, Saffi..." Such a cute name for such a cute character.

I hear Innistrad is going to have human for the G/W tribe.
She looks like she'd fit in nicely. But as an EDH general, she'd have to compete with such favorites as Rafiq of the Many, Angus Mackenzie, and Captain Sisay for the spot of green and white legendary human.

What's funny is you can use the ability on the very thing that killed her originally. Oh the irony of it all.

One of the reasons I love the Time Spiral set (all the card connections), this card always makes me smile for letting us know she made it ok.
So did Hans too, he runs quite fast.

OK, Mirror Gallery, three Saffis, and a sac outlet. Does it work? Sac the first, targeting the second (let it resolve). Now the second will come back when sacrificed. Sacrifice that, targeting the third. Now that will come back when sacrificed -- and the second one comes back. Sacrifice the third targeting the second. Now that will too, and the second comes back. Seems to work! If you can't clone or tutor three Saffis, just two plus a raise dead/zombify/Angelic Renewal/Graceful Reprieve for the first one should also work. Or an Adarkar Valkyrie... but let's agree not to even think about Intruder Alarm.
With this girl as your EDH general and an aluren in play it's pretty hard for your creatures to stay dead. You could add a sack outlet or something and go infinite if you're into that kinda thing.

So she runs from the Lhurgoyf and steps into a time rift.
So why is the flavor text on Lhurgoyf composed of her supposed "last words"? Simple. In her world, they never found her body. What else could she be if not dead?
What else indeed?

Saffi for planeswalker in Avacyn Restored pls Wizards.
Alrighty then. This card, Angel of Glory's Rise, and Bloodthrone Vampire. Sac Saffi for the angel, then sac the angel, so it dies, enters the battlefield, and returns Saffi to play. Then you win because your vampire is infinitely strong and you have a Rancor attached to it, because you're playing green and you like to win. For extra fun, play this with Champion of the Parish, Mentor of the Meek, and Cathars' Crusade.
has anyone tried her with evoke creatures? feel like, at least, Saffi saving a Mulldrifter from its own trigger to draw 4 cards would be pretty cool. You could even evoke your Reveillark and keep it too, fun stuff :D

Saffi is my favorite EDH general. She is fun to play and fun to build around, and / offer some great EDH options.
Plus, Saffi is very cute.

Love this card. Best part about this card is that it says "whenever target creature," not "next time target creature" This means that sacrificing this lovely lass for Alchemist's Apprentice while Laboratory Maniac is on the field, you can repeatedly sacrifice him to himself for infinite card draw, resulting in a win.
Edit: Nevermind, the creature loses the return after going to the grave once. Unless Saffi is also brought back, my combo doesn't work.

Nearly every card in Time Spiral was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.
This card represents the character who nobly sacrificed herself to save Hans from the Lhurgoyf. Or did she?

@Laguz, her ability fits the Scout creature type. The scout runs into the bad thing first, and her warning saves others.

Set up with something like Tormod's Crypt or Nihil Spellbomb to rake your own yard clean before going off.
Maybe an Angel of Serenity for fun.
