Sweet! :D
So this means it can also copy legendary creatures and live to tell about it, right?

Yes, you can copy a Legendary creature and they remain in the battlefield! It's a reusable Clone, but it's Legendary so you can't have more than one in the battlefield.
Clone:
-easier casting cost
-kills Legends

Sakashima:
-doesn't kill Legends
-reusable
-At its worst is a 3/1 for 2BlueBlue
-It's Legendary

Clone kills legends? Isn't the second legend of the same name the one that is destroyed?

Dark_Raider that is the old legend rule, the legend rule was updated at kamigawa block (correct me if wrong)

now when two legends of the same name enter the battlefield, both are put into the graveyard as a state based effect

It doesn't kill legends, it COPIES them, that's its job.
To rate this card you must understand what kind of things you should copy.
For example: coping a Doran the Siege Tower = bad choice; coping a Rakdos the defiler / Circu, Dimir Lobotomist /Nicol Bolas = good choice.

Use this card to copy Iona, Shield of Emeria, and you can block two colors that opponents are using.

The way the Legends rule interacts with shapeshifters has always sat wrong with me, and the new Legendary rule has made it worse. Saka works with the Legendary rule in a way that feels right. If only the other shapeshifters worked the same way.

Legendary Rule Is So Lame I Don't Abide By It If I Want 3 Ajani vengeants Out They'll Be There. GREAT CARD Real Unique

Actually, Ajani Vengeant is not effected by the legendary rule.

@MasterOfEtherium - Ajani Vengeant is not a Creature and is not Legendary. When there are two Ajani type Planeswalkers in play, they destroy each other via the Planeswalkers rule. If you play Sakashima the Imposter you can not copy an Ajani Vengeant because he is not a creature. Plus, decided to ignore rules because you don't like them makes you bad at Magic. :\

Due to its ability to copy legendary creatures it can create a lot of fun. I've put it into my Scion of the Ur-Dragon/Conspiracy deck, and it's a riot. In a multiplayer game one player gets to take a Phage to the face, while another tackles an Emrakul. Good times. ^^

Awesome version of Clone.
It may not be able to kill legendary creatures but it is certainly far more versatile than Clone

It took me a while to really grasp the "its name is still Sakashima the Impostor" line... But then my jaw, it dropped!

I agree with A3Kitsune, basically, all shapeshifters should work like this, after all, in-universe, a shapeshifter looking like Volrath died to Gerrard's blade in the Evincar's place!

Also, the thought that this lady goes to her wardrobe and pulls a disguise that then makes her into a titanic Elder God monstrosity is highly amusing. :D

I'de defenantly put this in my Leyline of singularity deck. With everything being a legend i have a few creatures i would really really like to have more than one of.

@jsttu

Wouldn't actually work like that. Because of the rule text it states that he may enter the battle field as a copy. He is not changed while being cast. Which means he can still be countered and you wouldn't get the extra turn.
Magnor_Criol
★★★☆☆ (3.7/5.0) (5 votes)
@Yozuk - he didn't say anything about extra turns or uncounterability. He said he copied an Emrakul and had Annihilator 12 and 30 damage, which is exactly what, I dunno, two Emrakuls will get you. Have Emrakul, cast Sakashima, next turn swing with "both" Emrakuls.

i run him in blue green snake deck with seshrio the annointed and it is pure sickness you draw when ever a snake does damage combine 2 cards plus all snakes get +4/+4. it works dandy without ohran viper but id use him if i did'nt trade him away. lore scale coatl is splendid.

Copied an Emrakul once. Annihilator 12 and 30 damage to the face made my opponent very mad.

@Yozuk: I never said it was uncounterable or i received an extra turn. I said i attacked twice, giving me the win.

In a 5 player EDH, I played Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. A friend then played Sakashima the Impostor copying Elesh. Fun was had by all except the other 3 players. Now, if only I had played the Sakashima...

I read your comment, as well as a few others, then hit random card. It brought me to the card with the flavour text that describes that happenning. No joke. It was awesome.

(While having either Leyline of Anticipation or Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir in play,) I was thinking about copying Gideon Jura with this... but then thought, does Sakashima remain as a creature at the end of the turn?...

If that's case, then the problem lies in the fact that perhaps at the end of the turn Sakashima refrains from being 6/6 and becomes 0/0 at the end of the turn and one would need a continual booster like glorious anthem/gaea's anthem (or even honor of the pure would work here seeing as Sakasima would become white).

jk! you can't have two planeswalkers with the same type! gotcha! haha

What if I grab this guy and make him copy a planeswalker while he's being considered a creature? Let's say I go through the trouble of dropping a Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas and Liquimetal Coating then use his -1 on himself and finally drop Sakashima and make him copy Tezzeret.
Will he have his Planeswalker abilities? Because if so, holy cow double planeswalker fun.

@DavidLopes - yes, you can copy a creature-fied planeswalker. But Sakashima also copies the planeswalker's subtype (on your example, it would be "Planeswalker - Tezzeret"), so both Sakashima and original Tezzeret will go to the graveyard before you have the chance to use any of Sakashima's walker abilities.

Sakashima ignores the legend rule because it keeps its own name, but the planeswalkers rule looks at the subtype.

What would happen if you played Argent Mutation on a planeswalker, then played March of the Machines, then played this? At the end of the turn, when Jace is neither a creature or an artifact, would this still be a artifact creature planeswalker?

@atemu1234

Your question is moot- but I understand what you are trying to ask.

Let us say for example that you have a Jace Beleren, upon which you use Argent Mutation on, and a March of the Machines in play.

At this point, Jace Beleren is an 3/3 Blue Artifact Creature Planeswalker-Jace with CMC 3, 3 loyalty counters (assuming you haven't used any of his abilities yet) and 3 loyalty abilities. At end of turn, he would return to simply being a Planeswalker-Jace with CMC 3, 3 loyalty counters, and 3 loyalty abilities.

Now, before end of turn, let us say you play Sakashima the Imposter, entering play as a copy of Jace Beleren.
Sakashima is a 3/3 Legendary Blue Artifact Creature Planeswalker-Jace named Sakashima the Imposter with CMC 3, 3 loyalty counters, and 3 loyalty abilities, and the activated ability "2UU: Return this creature to its owner's hand at end of turn" and will remain that way permanently.
What happens to the orignal Jayce Beleren is unimportant at this point- Sakashima will forever be treated as a 3/3 Legendary Blue Artifact Creature Planeswalker-Jace with CMC 3 and 3 loyalty abilities and 1 activated ability. From now on, for all intents and purposes, Sakashima doesn't care what happens to Jace Beleren.

However, most of this is irrelevant- immediately after entering play, both Sakashima and Jace would be put into the graveyard at the same time as a state-based action due to the planeswalker rule.

Now that the legends rule has changed and each player can control one of each legendary creature, he's much obviously better than Clone; now neither of them kill an opponent's legend, but Sakashima still lets you have two of your own legend.

I just want to tell a little tale of my recent adventures with Sakashima.

I was in a "grand melee" ( 6 player EDH game ), with five of my friends.

I was playing my favorite deck, a blue and black Mill and Clone deck, championed by none other than Lazav, Dimir Mastermind . The basic concept of the deck is to mill people, generally have a good time and then let Lazav become whatever falls into peoples graves.

Fortune struck and one of my friends where forced to discard his hand. In that hand, he had a little lass called Avacyn, Angel of Hope .
Well... Now I had an angel commander called Lazav, Dimir Mastermind, Angel of Hope. ( Funny side note about this is that Lazav, even though he spends month, tracking and researching people that he want to imitate, he still INSISTS on being called, Lazav... which, I would think, undermindes the entire operation.)

I was soon getting the attention of the board, what, with my army being indestructible. So I so no other way out, than to call in the big guns.

Enter Sakashima, The Imposter.

Now I had TWO Angels of Hope. One named Lazav, Dimir Mastermind, Angel of Hope. And even better! I now had:

Sakashima, The Imposter, Dimir Mastermind, Angel of Hope.

You see. To understand the greatness of Sakashima, you have to understand that it isn't enough for the Imposter to imitate whatever Lazav was doing. Oh no... Sakashima had to BE Lazav, BEING Avacyn, thereby perfectioning the disguise.

Long story short. I won. Great times.

Next time, I will tell you about the time Sakashima became Emrakul, the Aeons Torn . But that is a tale for another time... but... I'll let you think about it for a moment.. how Sakashima convinced everyone that he was an Eldrazi... how gullible are people?

Sakashima, the greatest cosplayer of all time, can knock out flawless renditions of such creatures like Elesh Norn, Emrakul, and even the sought after Avacyn. Such costuming prowess is worshiped.
