I'd tap that card for any mana cost.

The bad part about this card is that it has so many abilities with so much text that there's no place for flavor text. Jaya's always been a quote goldmine. I AM DISAPPOINT.

Good card, though.

She's wearing those Distorting Lenses. Man, are they handy.

Those don't look anything like Distorting Lenses. Her goggles are solid in front with only a slit on each eye, the lenses are just glasses.

I agree with Detonativity, I always found it a little ironic that Jaya, Mistress of the Awesome Flavor Text, has none on her own card. =p

If you think about it. This look's like it could have been an prototype for Planeswalkers.

This is madness. MADNESS.

No seriously though, she is damn good in a madness deck. Tap two mana and her, then discard a Fiery Temper- only to play it for 2 mana less than usual? Or you could always toss a Reckless Wurm on the field for 3... Or how about using her last ability to facilitate a cheaper Violent Eruption, half killing your opponent and essentially ensuring everything on the field is gone?

"Pay 2 and Discard: Play one of the most obscene activated ability ever made."

Ah, guess I'm out of lightning bolts. I'll draw, and have every card that isn't a lightning bolt, become one.

Just silly combo's with this too. Give her Keen Sense or a Baskalisk Collar for instance.

Totally Awesome to play Ms Dy-na-mi-tee when Jaya comes out. http://www.kewego.com/video/iLyROoaftt-n.html

Jaya's a planeswalker, ain't she? Where's my Jaya planeswalker card?

I've been waiting for her to get a card for a while now ^_^ 'Bout time.
I really think, though, that she should have been released in Future Sight so that her 3rd ability could have a Grandeur cost. I never get around to using that last ability because the game's either over or I already have control of the board by the time I have the mana. If the ability had been Grandeur it would have made it a lot more viable.

I'd love to see her reprinted as a planeswalker, even her abilities seem to allude to being a proto-planeswalker. And Chandra learned at Keral Keep, which was established by none other then Jaya. I'd love to see the two meet up someday.

Jaya is still the iconic Red girl, as far as I'm concerned. Just look at all the classic flavor text from her! Chandra Nalaar is trying to steal her thunder, but she isn't nearly as awesome.

While I would love to see a Jaya vs Chandra catfight, I think the two would actually go well together in a deck. Especially with Chandra Ablaze.

It's easy to miss that Jaya's abilities go a long way in justifying having multiples of her, as a legend, in your deck: her own abilities mean that if you ever have multiples in your hand, you can just go ahead and discard her! Excellent card.

The original "planeswalker" card. I'd like to see her return in future sets - I doubt she'd be a planeswalker, but she could be a powerful creature with abilities that get stronger the more mana you have, much like this card. Also holds the distinction of having some of the best attributed flavor text in the game.

Bye bye Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker.

Seems like you just got owned by Jaya.

I think every planeswalker had a creature/character who inspired them. Excluding Karn, Nicol Bolas, and Venser, who were inspired by their own card and character. In my opinion, I think it would go like this:

Chandra-Jaya Ballard, Task Mage: Both are red aligned hot headed pyromaniac women who love to set stuff on fire.

Jace- Arcanis the Omnipotent: Both are blue aligned wizards specializing in mind powers and mental dominance.

Ajani-Lord Windgrace: Lord Windgrace was one of the planeswalkers who joined with Urza to fight against the Phyrexians. You can see him on the cards Planeswalker's Fury and Divine Light. Although Plainswalkers of that time were not color associated, Lord Windgrace is considered to be mostly red and white, like Ajani. Lord Windgace could also be argued to be the inspiration for Gideon, as both planeswalkers enjoy being on the front lines and fighting their opponents face-to-face.

Liliana-Gwendlyn Di Corci: Both Liliana and Gwendlyn are primarily black aligned necromancers, extremely beautiful (according to the plot), and extremely manipulative.

Sorrin-Baron Sengir: Both are black aligned vampires who are more uncaring and hedonistic than actively evil.

Tezzeret-Urza: Both Urza and Tezzeret are artificers whose thirst for knowledge and power led them down a dark path (Urza fought his own brother for the Mightstone and the Meekstone, while Tezzeret's search for the Codex Etherium led him into the clutches of Nicol Bolas) Also, both were corrupted and driven mad by evil forces (Urza by Phyrexia, and Tezzeret by Nicol Bolas)

Elsepth-Serra: Both Elsepth and Serra are powerful warriors who have strong beliefs in justice and protecting the innocent. Both are also extremely merciless in the pursuit of justice.

Garruk-Kamahl, Fist of Krosa: Although Garruk and Kamahl don't seem as clearly similar as the others, Garruk takes after Kamahl in many ways. Garruk could be seen as a fusion of both sides of Kamahl. From Kamahls pit fighting days, Garruk gets his love of combat and his martial prowess, and from Kamahls redemption as a druid Garruk gets his deep respect for nature.

Nissa Revane-Eladamri, Lord of Leaves: Both Nissa and Eladamri are territorial, charismatic elves who believe in elvish superiority over all other races.

Sarkhan Vol-Rorix Bladewing: Both Sarkhan and Rorix are extreme dragon supremacists, and both have been corrupted by black magic (Sarkhan was driven insane, while Rorix was resurrected as a zombie).

Well, that's all I've got. I know I missed a few planeswalkers (Taimyo, Tibalt and Koth) but just because I can't think of the character that inspired them doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I used this in a legacy tournament in a burn deck. My opponent played Jace, the Mind Sculpter and I used her first ability. I won.

I really hope we'll get Jaya as a planeswalker soon. Maybe she'll show up in Ravnica?

@ kazenpaus:
Jaya will never be printed as a Planeswalker because she is known to be dead. It was mentioned at the Planar Chaos novel.

Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.

The card represents Jaya Ballard (http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/Jaya_Ballard), a player favorite for her humorous and sadistically to-the-point flavor text quotations throughout Ice Age block. For her card, she can spellshape three different spells she was quoted on: Pyroblast, Incinerate, and Inferno; this spellshaper turns any card in your hand into one!

After the events of Ice Age, she ascended into a planeswalker and helped found the pyromancer academy which trained Chandra. This card represents her snatched out of her timeline prior to ascending to planeswalker status. Despite the seeming similarity between her three ability layout to modern Planeswalker cards, Wizards of the Coast has stated numerous times that this card was not a precursor to them.

@ acolyte_of_night,

Never stopped Nicol Bolas (2nd legend trilogy of books), and he had his soul vapourised.

Epic card, beautiful lady, great character.

Jaya, I miss you so...
