It would be an excellent if worded "When target creature card is put into graveyard this turn, return that card into play under your control".

Useful with evoked creatures like Mulldrifter.

You can't combine this with evoke. If you play the evoke cost it is put into the graveyard as a replacement effect, it never stay on the battlefield when you have priority. When its comes into battlefield effect triggers it is already in the graveyard, there is no opportunity to target it nor sacrifice it as a cost.

Hmm... this card smells like it could be broken. Just gotta find the right combo for it.

@non1337 That's incorrect, you can cast this in response to the triggered evoke ability, and the creature you evoked WILL be returned to the battlefield.

Just stumbled upon this beautiful card (thank you Gatherer) and I gotta say, I'm quite impressed. 1White to revive any one of my creatures at instant speed. At White, this would have been considered broken, but as it stands I think the cost is very reasonable.

The art and flavor of this encapsulates white reanimation so perfectly. Very well done Wizards.

This is really nice card. I would use Test of Faith against burn and creature heavy decks, but this one is really nice when fighting non-burn removal decks and if you're having a lot of creatures with triggered ability after entering a battlefield. Should be reprinted...

Non is wrong, evoke doesn't automatically throw your Mulldrifter in the bin. His triggered ability goes on the stack.

Nice answer for a Diabolic Edict or its new Standard-legal successor, Geth's Verdict, or a free sacrifice for anything. Good stuff.

It would be funny to play this on your opponent's Phage the Untouchable right before it died.

The flavor is talking about Shadowmoor, FYI. A very nice (and very sad) touch.

Knowing that this exists makes Grim Return even worse than I thought it was.

This is more like proto-Undying Evil.

I always thought of this as an instant Angelic Renewal, but it's also a simplified white Reincarnation.

This card is actually fairly underpowered compared to the other options out there (most notably Undying Evil and Cauldron Haze). It is also available in "seal" form with Angelic Renewal and (repeatable) aura form with Gift of Immortality. The main advantage this has over all the other revives is that it is the only repeatable one (no counter interactions) that fits on a stick (unlike the more powerful effects, like Second Sunrise and Faith's Reward).

@RiftenBlack
You missed that this specifies "owner's control". Grim Return can be used to steal an enemy creature after killing it with something like Doom Blade, which makes it almost a black False Demise.
@Adunar
This triggers on death and puts it under its owners control. The Treacherous Pit-Dweller triggers on entering the battlefield, and switches control (so it will go to an opponent of the owner, no matter who cast this). So you can potentially get 3 uses out of your opponent's dweller with this, (1 from undying, 1 from this, and 1 from the next round of undying).
If you cast this during your opponents first use of Dweller, it gets more complicated. If it is your turn, undying will trigger second, resolve first, and give you the Dweller with the counter. If it is your opponents turn, this will trigger second, resolve first, and give you the Dweller without the counter. But both those situations are pretty dumb, since you would be getting the Dweller anyway.
TL;DR: Don't run this and Dweller in the same deck. But feel free to use this to screw over someone else who uses Dweller.
