I love this card's effect especial i your low on mana. But, I have a cleric deck, so this is a big help.

Not that great a card on his own considering the cost, but near mandatory support for any cleric deck that is heavy in both color's. Goes great with cheap clerics (W or B only costs) and something like Null Profusion

Amazing in a cleric deck.

I'd like him if there where more tribal colleagues who could benefit from the full discount of WhiteBlack. As it stands now, there are only Lady Evangela, Wandering Mage (both somehow...strange?), Orzhov Pontiff and further copies of himself. A discount of just White or Black doesn't warrant its inclusion in a tribal deck in my opinion, there are better choices.
But I agree with Callipsa that he has some kind of combo potential with 1-drops.

Good with conspiracy. Let's you play tidehollow scullers for free, if I'm not mistaken.

The effect is cool and unique, and useful without being broken, unlike many cost-lowering effects. He looks bad-ass with his Edge of the Divinity, too.

Also has some of the best art to ever see print. A classic. 5/5.

@holgir: Now, there's Kaalia of the Vast.

Wish there was a 4WhiteBlack cleric for this to progress perfectly into.

It's not banned in Commander. Gee, I wonder why anyone would use this in Commander.

@ Axelle: If you already cast Kalia once, then there you go. I don't really know how that could happen before your third turn, though. Maybe some sort of reanimator.

@holgir: With Gatecrash coming up there will presumably be another one, seeing as Orzhov is coming back

Turn 4 Battletide Alchemist has saved me enough times not to underestimate him. Mana acceleration in white is so rare. Some card drawing is needed to keep him active though.

The combo potential is definitely there, I run Edgewalker with Orzhov Pontiff, Priest of Gix and Cloudstone Curio. Have fun swinging with your infinite power toughness Edgewalker with no blockers on the field.

I really love that art

This does an excellent job of freeing up mana for your Orzhov extortion, in addition to being a relevant creature type, the correct colors, and just being a 2/2 body at worst. It's also immune to Terror-style removal, so that is a definite plus.

Guys, rule 117.7a. of the Magic rules states "If a cost is reduced by an amount of coloured mana, but its colored mana component doesn't contain mana of that color, the cost is reduced by that amount of generic mana." If a cleric costs 1W and edgewalker is out that cleric costs 0. Guys, you can use this card with mono-coloured clerics.

I've browsed online for years, and this is the only mana reducer card (among warchieves, familiars, and artifacts) that reduces colored costs. Conspiracy and other tribal modifiers are cool in conjunction, along with a Stormscape Familiar. But, I've been looking through early blue instants to see if there's one to change mana symbols on a card (ala Sleight of Mind)...

5/5 for a combo-ing aspect.

Edit: Hate to ruin my high rated comment, but I gotta correct Stinga here.

That rule is awesome, and you made me hope for a moment. Because this is the only card I've found that reduces colored costs. However, that rule is rendered useless. This card states SPECIFICALLY that his cost reduction can only be applied to colored mana, then goes so far to give an example in the form of good ol' reminder text, to alleviate the confusion your comment may cause. It still reads this way in the Oracle text (but here's hoping for a change; I'm emailing Wizards about this), and the FIRST golden rule of magic is:

101.1. Whenever a card's text directly contradicts these rules, the card takes precedence. The card overrides only the rule that applies to that specific situation. The only exception is that a player can concede the game at any time (see rule 104.3a).

So, no, he does not reduce colorless costs. He *should* be errata-ed, considering that the rule you mentioned pretty much should only apply to him, and that he would be DOWNRIGHT NASTY, but the card rules take precedence over the comprehensive rules, as stated by the comprehensive rules.

With Gatecrash, there are now 3 new Orzhov-flavored Clerics that get the full discount from Edgewalker. High Priest of Penance (WhiteBlack) can be played for free and seems like the best choice. Sin Collector (1WhiteBlack) is pretty good played for 1 mana. Vizkopa Confessor (3WhiteBlack) is mediocre at best, but decent enough for 3 mana.

There's not that many opportunities to abuse Edgewalker, but we're getting there.

Ragemonger is to minotaurs what this is to clerics. BlackRed minotaurs might actually be a deck to beat!

I normally hate Kaalia posts, but it astounds me that no one, not even Trygon_Predator's post speaking directly on the subject of WB clerics notes her existence and odd synergy.

That all said, this guy is mostly nice (IMO) in making the WW or BB costed clerics easy to splash for. Order of Whiteclay becomes a {1}{W} for instance; which is much much easier than {1}{W}{W}. Stuff like that goes a long way towards smoothing the midgame out.
