This card has awesome art and it'll be a beast in a kiln fiend-style deck. 4 toughness is the magic number to dodge bolts and searing spears too. I can definitely see this being played quite a bit in pauper.

Into the Kiln Fiend deck with you!

T3: This. T4: Land, Artful Dodge (4/4), Artful Dodge flashback (7/4), Armed // Dangerous (Armed) (11/4), swing for 22 points of damage.

I just found my new deck.

So many sweet Izzet cards at common and uncommon. This is what an Izzet card is all about.

Both this and Kiln Fiend reach a one hit kill if granted double strike and three instants/sorceries are cast while Wee Dragonauts takes 4 if its given +1/+0 (Distortion Stike). I smell a pauper deck.

This fixes the thing that always bothered me most about Kiln Fiend: the toughness. I actually would consistently play Wee Dragonauts over Kiln Fiend for the awesome move that is "Pyroclasm, swing for three." Being able to use the red damage boardwipes gives the Kiln Fiend style deck so much less of a glass cannon sort of feel.

The cyclops in Abrupt Decay got better, apparently.

I really like that 4 toughness. Between that and being kiln fiend, it's a nice little guy to have around. I rarely attack for 1 anyway.

The artist has to play videogames.
Looks like Bioshock's Big Daddy, of course,
But am I the only one who sees a Keyblade in the background?
Cannot unsee. ><

There IS a Keyblade in the background! Well, a giant key at least.

Also, this thing is surprisingly awesome. Wow.

Almost a Kiln Fiend is still high praise, and the art is better in my opinion. ;3

So Kiln Fiend, Wee Dragonauts and Mr. Cyclopsface, please step into this Teleportal I designed and attack form the ground, the air and.... the ground"

No, really. Teleportal is super versatile here, whether you cast it on one creaturew hen you have tons of spells, or overload it for when you have tons of creatures.

Odd thought...Maybe it's a Cyclops, design-wise, because of Theros? I'm not sure whether cyclopes (if they're in Theros to begin with, admittedly) would be more red (crafters of lightning) or blue (at least one, Polyphemos, was a descendant of Poseidon), but either way, this one might fit in to a possible Cyclops tribal.

This guy did work for me during the prerelease. I won at least two games where this guy and a Hover Barrier or Doorkeeper were in play. I'd target my OTHER wall with Dragonshift and swing for 8 when they weren't expecting me to have any sort of attackers on the field at all. Was pretty sweet and I think I'd like to expand the concept into a constructed deck with tons of defenders to the point I'd be able to overload Dragonshift for the win.

Oh, btw, that +3/+0? That remains even if you turn him into a dragon because his ability activates first and therefore it remains til the end of turn as it activates before Dragonshift successfully turns him into the 4/4 flying dragon.

Compared to Kild Fiend it is a drawback that you have to play an instant or sorcery spell before you can attack with him.

Turn 3: this
Turn 4: hidden strings, hidden strings, hidden strings, hidden strings, guttersnipe. Attack.

Wee Dragonauts used to be the perfect Izzet card - It responded to instants and sorceries, and it had flying. Now we have another hard to profitably block creature who can deal even more damage! Stack this guy with Armed from Armed // Dangerous. Power of a Kiln Fiend that can stand a Searing Spear. I like.

Two of these guys and/or Kiln Fiend, Artful Dodge + flashback, swing for 14 unblockable.

Perfect flavor , it's like a big slow guard that goes nuts when magic is around and can do +20 damages on turn four ...
I've searched my old shoe box of nasty cards for lava dart just for him and is friend guttersnipe to burn and shred everything.

He wants to hold this Runechanter's Pike so badly, but alas he has no hands... However, do not cry for him, as he's still coming at your face for 22+ points of unblockable damage on turn four! >=)

Had a rather interesting FNM tonight. Went 2-2. Every round was over in 2 games. Every single one of my wins involved at least one of these guys, at least one guttersnipe, and a teleportal as a finisher. So yes, he's amazing.

@Hyperviper: Funny how we thought of the same thing, but you thought about it earlier than I did. I made a deck around him for Game Day this past weekend and got into top 8 with combos similar to that. I swear he pulls wins from out of nowhere sometimes even as I'm taking a beating.

PS: Nice throw to MvC2 in your name.

So just played BRGu, splashing for progenitor mimic, this, and blast of genius, most of the other cards were removal, korozda gorgons... list here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/rtr-brgu-combos/update/

This was my first attempt at 4 colors in draft, it worked out pretty well, almost no mana screw in 6 matches. This guy was an absolute powerhouse. At one point, I had an opponent with 2 bird tokens and murmuring phantasm on the field, 20 life, me at 4 life, and him tapping the cyclops with hands of binding. I play Mind Rot, pit fight making the cyclops kill the murmuring phantasm, then predator's rapport on the cyclops gaining 14 life. A few turns later, I cast horncaller's chant, the following turn, flesh & blood on the cyclops, flesh targeting a 3 power creature, bringing him to 7/7, dealing 7 to my opponent with blood, then swinging for lethal, for 24 damage that turn. I accidentally combo deck.

I played a RWU deck built around this guy at FNM last night. Very fun when it worked, very mundane when it didn't. I did have a turn 4 win where I had this guy ready to go, played a Boros Charm to give it double strike, and then Artful Dodge, and flashed it back for 10/4 unblockable double strike.

For any of you that have seen the Blistercoil Weird combo deck, this is a fantastic addition if you can't combo off quick enough.
For those of you that haven't, enjoy: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/rc/236
