Prodigal Pyromancer can get creatures too. This thing only pings opponents. I like the body, but I'd take say it's clearly sub-pyromancer...

Quietus Spike in multiplayer.

Lobber Crew + Curiosity = Tap: Draw X cards, where X is equal to the number of opponents.

This can be an effective defender. Pros like me have also realized that there are lots of multi-colored spells in this set, so this card is viable.

Nice Rakdos card, especially in multiplayer where you can cause a bunch of life loss, cast Rakdos himself, then cause a bunch more.

@matteumayo: But it's not dealing combat damage with its ability, so that doesn't accomplish anything.
That said, definitely going in my commander decks. I wouldn't say it's specifically better or worse than Pyromancer, they accomplish different roles.

DO NOT BE FOOLED! This card will mess you up. Every game I went up against these guys at the prerelease I either wasted spells trying to get rid of them or I ignored them and took so much extra damage.... I might've won an individual game from a round but I didn't win a round when this guy was in my opponents deck. Getting rid of a 4 body is tough without help from the other sets.

Were talking 2-4 damage some turns. One time I had 7 life left. He had 2 life left and a stab wound on his lobber crew. This is how his final turn went...

Tap lobber crew, deal 1 dmg
Cast izzet charm, draw 2/discard 2
untap lobber crew, tap for 1 dmg.
He drew hypersonic dragon via izzet charm.
Cast dragon, untap lobber crew.
Swing for 4 dmg with dragon. Lobber crew for 1 and the win.

I died a little inside. And for all my lobber crew pair ups I didn't pull a single one myself. Zzz...

Play this card if you're smart. Ignore it if you're not. But it can and will win games regularly.

This is... a damn fine pinger, at common no less. I had one in my pre-release pool for Izzet and it carried all of my games. Make sure to remember and ping your opponent before casting any multi-color spell. It can be hard to remember even sober ;)

Goblin, check. Funny flavor text, check. First goblin with defender, check. Solid defender, check. Enables multiplayer burn decks, check. Awesome, truly awesome.

This would have been a very cool card if just it were a regular pinger like Prodigal Pyromancer.

It would have been the Cinder Pyromancer of this set.
I think having three more toughness than him wouldn't have been a problem either, since casting multicolored spells is by far not as easy than red spells in a monored deck (duh!)

"Quietus Spike in multiplayer."
@matteumayo As a creature with zero power and Defender, this would be one of the worst choices to equip Quietus Spike to - look closely at what the card says: "combat damage". That means it'll only trigger from damage that the equipped creature causes with its power in combat by attacking (or blocking).
If Quietus Spike triggered with regular damage, these Goblins would in fact be a cruel choice in multiplayer - but their activated ability doesn't count as combat damage, and since even death touch won't help them when blocking, you're better off giving that equipment to someone else.

Definitely a card that teaches new players the most optimal times to activate effects...in response to removal, end of opponent's turn, immediately after declaring blocks on a creature that would kill it during combat. Synergy with Krenko, Mob Boss is pure gravy.

Apparently this works well with Rakdos, Lord of Riots.

Really helped keep damage flowing to my opponent during a draft. I was sad that I only pulled one of them though; the rest of my deck was mostly multicolored RU.

Solid card, in my opinion.

It's not necessary to use this before casting multicolored spells. You can use it after casting the spell, because its triggered ability will go on the stack, giving you the chance to ping before it resolves.

Good card (in limited anyway), but don't forget to tap them when you cast a multicolour spell. I had three of them out once and forgot to that (Yeah, I'm really bad at this game).

Does this card remind anyone else of the old Gob lobber from the 80's Warhammer dwarfs?

Fun card.

love this. runs with doorkeeper and hover barrier. i sit there and lob balls at people and ruin their decks, all while i have a strong defense. those izzet charms are real nice for untapping, not to mention counterflux.

3/5. Solid draft pick. A 0/4 defender with pinging for 3 provides you with a lot of options. Plus it rewards you for playing multicolored cards. Not bad at all.

I call it Lobster Crew. I have played against it a lot.

@franks1no: Cipher says combat damage.

You can respond to the triggered ability with the activated ability. So if you forget and cast a spell, you can still respond to the ability by tapping to deal one damage. This is how a Gelectrode combos with spells with rebound (or he can tap in response to the rebound spell. Responding to the trigger ensures you manipulate the stack correctly.)

Would be good to enchant with Quicksilver Dagger in a deck with lots of multicoloured spells, having a choice of dealing to each opponent, or a particular one and drawing a card would be pretty neat! Then untapping to do it all again!
