Yes, the Greek gods were dicks.
Also this is a pretty good board sweeper. Annihilating Fire for everyone!

Solid board wipe. Very pleased. Reminds me a lot of Slagstorm, which is a good thing to remind someone of. It's no Pyroclasm, but it'll see so much standard play that it doesn't even matter.

Reminds me a lot of Slagstorm as Doaj mentioned. It also reminds me a decent amount of Flamebreak.

RAINING BLOOD!

FROM THE LACERATED SKIES!

Okay, it's fire, but whatever.

Great sweeper, great Voice of Resurgence killer.

I'm not even a control player and I appreciate that this card exists. A cheap sweeper is something the game has been missing for a while, and a damage-based exile effect is just gravy, to be honest. To be completely honest, it feels like this card is a little late to the party, but what the heck. It'll give slower decks yet another weapon against fast-paced players like me.

Kills most aggressive threats, save Loxodon Smiter, and allows you to maintain board presence with 4 toughness dudes such as Frostburn Weird and Nivix Cyclops.

Funny, better than Wrath of God in some situations, regardless of the name...

An improved Slagstorm. Sure, it can't hit players, but this is quite an answer to weenie decks and Voice of Resurgence and its token horde, and the Voice won't even leave a token behind afterward.

Looks like Wizards judged (correctly, in my opinion) that all the resilient creatures in Melira Pod needed an efficient answer.

This seems great with Frostburn Weird in Standard but I will still be maining Slagstorm in other formats.

@absbreim: Definitely.

Anyways, if I wanted to get picky about design, I'd suggest a Volcanic Fallout that can be countered but that has the "exile instead of die" stuff.

As it is, it's pretty good and hopefully will see play in Modern.

Hot dog, this is so similar to Flamebreak!

3 CMC?
Very Red?
3 Damage?
Means of crippling abilities?

Yes, yes, yes, and pretty much. It's also almost impossible to say whether this is better or not.

RedRedRed versus 1RedRed does make a difference, but dealing damage to all creatures vs. just creatures without flying can make or break your game (depending on who has flyers). Stopping regeneration vs. stopping graveyard whatnot is also impossible to determine which is better.
And lastly, Flamebreak damages players as well. As much as I'd love to say that's a benefit, it can sometimes be a problem when you have 3 or less life!

Stupid angry gods ruining my aggro decks. (Wrath of God, Day of Judgement, Damnation, and this thing.)

Seems like a toss up between this and Volcanic Fallout for the better card. That 3 damage seems like it's going to be extremely relevant most of the time though.

This is why they reprinted Brave the Elements.

It's alright. My biggest complaint is that it targets all creatures, including you own. Second, three damage is good but not always guaranteed to kill everything. It may put you in a situation where your opponents green monsters survive and young pyromancer and pals (Red doesn't always have the biggest creatures) die.

I find it very appropriate that there is a burning tree in this artwork.

Nice card, shame they made it a rare. You'd think it would be uncommon like pyroclasm or other similar cards.

Good in general, as it hits all creatures rather than non-flying. Also good because it's 3 damage, 3 mana (you can cast through gaddock teeg and even kill him if he's been pumped once.) It exiles, which is useful for Dies effects, especially Undying/Gravecrawler.

It's an easy way to take just a couple damage from an aggro deck then punish them hard with a 2 or 3-for-1. What's more, it teaches them Game 2 to slow down, which gives your midrange some time to develop. Pyroclasm is decent, but I feel this is more of an all-round good card for casual decks; and 3 damage is enough to punish heroic mechanics more easily.

Easily modern playable and rated less than 4? Some people just want to watch the world burn.
