Value is the word. It has immediate board presence with another wolf and flips to become a 4/4 trampler that shocks. I doubt many people will be able to flip it back and forth but equally so it affects the opponents choice to play two or more spells. Solid 4/5

If you get Immerwolf out before Huntmaster transforms, you'll still end up with eight power and double card advantage for four mana. All the awkward interaction is doing is keeping overkill from becoming mega-overkill.

Obviously great with Werewolves, but I'm having trouble thinking of any conceivable RG deck that couldn't benefit from his presence. This is one of the best utility creatures Wizards has cranked out in years. Easy 5/5.
If Werwolfs become a DTB this will be the only card rivaling Sorin, Lord of Innistrad for the most expensice DKA Card (20$+).

This thing is some kind of swiss army knife werewolf. It has 5 abilities! 7 counting the flip effects. It's like wizards couldn't figure out what they wanted the card to do so made it do everything.

It's like someone at Wizards stole all of the abilities that should have been on other werewolves in Innistrad and dumped them onto this one werewolf, then cranked it up to mythic. I love this card and will probably be playing it, but why do most of the other werewolves get sucky abilities (or none at all) instead of being even a shadow of what this guy is?

Wow. A red green card that drops tokens (in an environment with more token makers than RoE), gains life and deals damage? That´s so unique! That´s so mythic!
Seriously, I expected something more original from the missing mythic werewolf.

Here's how to analyse how good a card is: you compare this card to the number of other cards that could nullify it. In this case, your opponent needs at LEAST two cards to nullify the advantage this card gives: Black Sun's Zenith for 2 and Shock, or Torpor Orb and Shock. Both options also affect your opponents somewhat, and will cost the opponent at least 3 mana. Now if this card's flip ability is also considered, the advantages provided is absurd.
To use this card most efficiently, use a mana sink ability on your next turn instead of casting a spell. This way, you will utilize the board instead of your hand, which is good, and you can also avoid getting disadvantaged by having it removed at the end of turn. Wolfbitten Captive and Kessig Wolf Run are good in this case.
In conclusion, even though this is priced at $17 on StarCityGames, it is still severely underestimated and grants the most assured and profitable advantage in Dark Ascension, and the only other comparable card is Sorin, Lord of Innistrad.

This is a super cool. I just wish they had more flip effects on werewolf's even crapy one's do lil some thing like a red spy werewolf when turns human look at top card of your library, Or a green one that when it flips add 1 or 2 mana to your pool at your next main phase. Even a red one that when it became a wolf discard a card at random if you do shocked a creature. Maybe even one that in wolf form damages a human it get 2 +1+1 counters and trample and is also a werewolf.
I just think wizards is either waiting till the next set or decided to make only a few playable werewolfs.

Amazing card. Easily drop him third turn first turn Forest and Wolfbitten Captive or Young Wolf, second turn Mountain/Forest and Scorned Villager, then third turn Mountain/Forest , tap all three lands and the scorned villager, get Huntmaster of the Fells. Third turn, have a 2/2 Wolf, Huntmaster of the Fells, a Scorned Villager, and a Captive/Young Wolf. Fourth turn, maximize effect by dropping a Moonmist and another card , and you'll get Huntmaster's effects three times in two turns, not to mention buffed creatures and life gain. Excellent. 5/5

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned what happens when two players have a Huntmaster out and they both transform, but it's worth mentioning it for other players to see as there are no Rulings listed here.
The transform ability is triggered at the same time for both players, but the active player puts the ability on the stack first and the non-active player second. When the non-active player's transformation resolves, Ravager of the Fells' ability goes on top of the the stack - probably targeting the yet-to-transform enemy Huntmaster as the target. When that resolves, the enemy Huntmaster is likely dead and doesn't get to transform.
With this in mind, play spells very carefully in this situation so that you don't get caught out on your turn.

This art is amazing. Not just the beauty of it, but the fact that every single color on the card interacts well. The combination of the red and green borders on gold background with the fiery red/orange mythic symbol and the dramatic golden sunlight in the image is truly one of the best color effect ever to appear on a magic card.

He is great to drop as you get the free life and 2/2 wolf and there's always the possibility of getting him to flip. But like all the flip cards that's the impracticality of it. In constructed you have to rely upon your opponent missing a go (not likely to happen) or effectively skipping casting yourself (putting you at a disadvantage). You can pack in a Moonmist but that means the deck relies a bit upon a single card. I would still put down the Immerwolf because the +1/+1 in a wolfdeck gives huge advantage and most werewolves are best wolf side up. Also it makes things more predictable, as having a set of cards flipping all the time on the table could win or lose you the game.
That's why I'm surprised that this card has such high resale value... I've never seen one run in constructed.

I seriously Underestimated this card when I first saw it. On a lark, I tossed it into my Mono-green standard deck as a target for Green Sun's Zenith or to work out with a BoP. I was amazed at the Tempo this thing gained me. Especially if I had the means to cause him to flip back after he transformed into the Ravager.
Board Position + lifegain + more Board Position + Shock + potential do it again = way better than it seems on the surface. Give this guy a shot sometime if you pull one, you might be pleasantly surprised like I was.
@HowardTreesong You only have to not play spells on your turn. You can totally play spells on their turn. Consider: Cast Huntmaster. Pass. Opponent plays, but doesn't answer it. Your turn, attack or whatever, pass. His upkeep, flip to ravager, cast an Incinerate, a Naturalize, or other combat tricks, then flip him back? That's bank. That screams to your opponent ANSWER ME! Or, if your opponent doesn't have anything that the Ravager can chew on, just leave him in Huntmaster mode, he already got you board position and life for only 4 mana. You can always flip him later when he can get you more board position.

Again only a 3 for him, between immerwolf spamming, the mayor, and all the other great things our werewolves do full time in werewolf mode I started leaving grizzly adams at home. Granted it was fun watching a player debate whether or not to send him back in to human mode and suffer another wolf token, or get chewed up by a bunch of lycanthropes, other than that meh.
I still don't see it folks. Everything you say this guy is great for I can do elsewhere. Mayor creates way more board advantage, does it sooner, does it cheaper, and buffs his wolves while he's at it. Please don't get me wrong, he's good, just not mythic good. He gets a 4 or 4.5 as a rare. Olivia Valderan agrees.

Modern Jund aggro just got another tool in its belt.
Went to the local Wally-World and walked in to buy 5 packs of Avacyn Restored. Got them, went to leave and noticed that only 5 packs of Dark Ascension remained. I couldn't help it. Dropped the Avacyn, and went for the last 5 Dark. Also grabbed 1 pack of Innistrad for my friend who drove me to the store. Opened first pack and got Hellrider/Huntmaster. Third pack yielded Helvault. Fifth pack gave up another Hellrider and yet another Huntmaster. Almost exploded, spewing confetti everywhere. Friend opened single pack of Innistrad, got Geist of St. Traft. *Blammo*.

I dont like when magic becomes pay to win. You get a rare in every booster, which you paid 4 dollars for. All rares should be created equal but they are not.
As a matter of fact, you spend 4 dollars for a pack that's most likely worth 50 cents. Some people buy booster packs, others by scratch off tickets. Same difference.

I personally don't see why people say this doesn't combo well with Immerwolf.
Here's what I see if you get him out while Immerwolf is on the battlefield. For : You gain 2 life. You get two 3/3 bodies.
If you get him to flip, you get a Lunge and a 5/5 Trample to go with the 3/3 wolf token. Suddenly your opponent doesn't know whether to deal with the Immerwolf that's buffing the other creatures on the battlefield (assuming you're running a Werewolf deck) or the 5/5 Trampler. Suddenly going straight for the Huntmaster doesn't seem as attractive.
This sounds like it's still worth it to me.

Duel Decks: Vampires vs. Werewolves is still something I'd like to see, but Wizards has stated that DFC's are not cost-efficient to print in promotional products. I would pick up every DFC now, before the prices experience some inflation due to getting no reprints.
Especially Garruk, the Veil-Cursed and Huntmaster. I made a slightly dick-troll comment on this card before for humor, but now I'm replacing it with a public service announcement: I believe there is a very low chance of DFC's getting reprints, since even if the DFC mechanic is already slated to return in Innistrad pt. 2, so far Return to Ravnica Block has not done much in the way of reprinting old classic favorites (Glimpse the Unthinkable, everyone is looking at you with very sad faces. Please be in Modern Masters.) Scars of Mirrodin Block and Return to Ravnica Block mildly suggest to me that, with the other information I have on mostly-rumor-level quality of verification, it still seems really unlikely we'll get Garruk, Huntmaster, or Withengar reprints, and right about now when Garruk and Huntmaster are the only ones seeing much demand would be the time to pick up yours.
Huntmaster even is going slightly down because he's impacting constructed a little less, but DFC's, unlike Level ups, impacted the game enough that the best ones fetch decent prices. Commander Decks using them are going to drive this up, not INSANELY, but about the same as the difference between non-foils and foils of highly desired Commanders. This means we're easily looking at $35 non-foil Huntmasters after he gets scarce and missed, and a completely ridiculous $65 or more for his foil version. He'll hit a low point shortly after Standard rotation, unless he remains strong enough in Modern and Legacy to, well, not go below his current value anyway.
I really think now is the cheapest you'll be able to find the Mythic and Rare DFC's, and that it will be an appreciable profit to invest in them. I'd value Mayor of Avabruck over Instigator Gang in the long run, but I could be way off there. Mayors will definitely double or more, given enough time, being a cheap-to-cast Lord.
Best card in standard imo. This card kicks my butt every time *sighs*

I have to seriously disagree with those who say this card has anti-synergy with Immerwolf. Au contraire, if he hits the field when Immerwolf is in play, then you just got yourself a 3/3 wolf token, and if he flips, you now have a 5/5 trampler. Made worse is that often times your opponent will now be forced to decide which of the two is the bigger threat.
I realize that some people think flipping him back and forth is the best strategy but honestly exploiting his etb trigger is just super inefficient. Playing two spells a turn to flip him back and then wasting a turn or Moonmist to flip him again is an extremely unreliable strategy.

He's the Mythic Rare Werewolf we deserved back in Innistrad, as every other major tribe got a Mythic Rare. Hell, Spirits got two! But the wait was definitely worth it, as Standard proved to us for some time. A Werewolf who proves to be a win-win situation no matter what form he ends up being in is exactly what the ailing tribe needed, and at least in my experience, he has not disappointed if I can keep him on the battlefield.
