Definitely underrated, he brings a lot of strength to aggro in Standard, and at three mana, he comes out quickly. Although he comes out at a key CMC for aggro decks, he provides some late-game staying power along with removal, and I think he will at least make a splash somewhere

Quality 3-drop walker. I think he's on par with Liliana of the Veil for utility in his proper deck. +1 is card advantage, -2 is removal, ult well...it's a planeswalker ult, it should be very difficult for your opponent to recover from.

I like him, not only because of his abilities but because of flavor. From flavor texts of other cards he's very nature loving but not without wisdom, and not blindly obedient like Sarkhan. He gives a R/G deck stability in the long run if it ever gets that far.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I LOVE this card. I love it enough to put it in Modern Jund, and maybe Legacy. With a Dark Confidant on the board, anything which can help to control draws is awesome. Combine that with a CMC low enough for Bloodbraid Elf to Cascade into, and you have a star. His second ability is very relevant too, letting you trade a token for a Dark Confidant, or to kill a Deathrite Shaman with a Bloodbraid Elf. Jund loves this guy. I already ordered my set.

I only just got into magic recently and I got to thinking about what I'd want me as a Planeswalker to do. I like to support my allies, make them stronger and I really like the fight mechanic. The +1 ability allows you to get card advantage, more cards in hand means more abilities on hand to help your creatures. It's kind of hard for Planeswalkers to directly protect or support creatures with their +1s (and the +1/+1 counter ability is already taken by that blasted cat), so I honestly can't think of anything I'd rather have.
With a CMC of 3, my favourite CMC for cards as well and out in the first set released after I started playing. Even better, he's in Gruul's colours, which is my guild of choice.
Needless to say, I know which card I want to see in my rare slots. 10/5

I'm not huge on planeswalkers in general, mostly because when I do use them, they never really work out the way I hope (they always get targeted fast), I redact my original comment (of liking this one better) after reading Gideon again. This one is still good, but i had to read Gideon's first ability twice.

He's def shorter than your average Planeswalker, as you see he's standing in front of a War Mammoth's remains. However, I believe they had irony in thought when designing this art. We all know big things often come in little packages, but I don't think that's the intended message. I think the underwhelming feeling he brings to the battlefield allows him some staying power, when/if that happens he can become VERY deadly obviously.. Perhaps the message and what he would say if he could speak was intended to be something like.. "Sleep on me if you dare, but if you do, I assure you that you'll never awake in this world.." :)

On paper he looks decent. Assuming your deck has 30 creatures out of 60 cards, his +1 mathematically nets you half a card and his -2 is removal. That's all the makings of a decent 3 mana planeswalker (see: Liliana of the Veil).
But the problem right now is that his +1 isn't reliable. While, say, Jace 1.0 or Liliana of the Veil +1 abilities are mathematically card parity, you know something at least will happen. With domri, you could get bad luck and +1 and whiff too many times.
His -2 is also reliant on having certain cards on the field. Obviously it's not hard to have creatures in play, but there will be times when you don't have any on the field, or your creatures are too small to kill a certain creature giving you problems.
Basically, he's a bit more luck based than your typical card. If there is library manipulation then his +1 becomes way better. Unfortunately with miracles in standard, there is no way we are getting anything close to Ponder until innistrad cycles out, at the earliest, and index is a total joke.
Arachnos
★★★★☆ (4.5/5.0)(2 votes)
Why in a name is he rated less than 4? He works as a card draw (even if the draw part doesn't work, you're still looking at the top card of your library, which can be useful). He allows for removal (because a deck that plays him obviously runs big powerful creatures), and his ultimate basically reads "-7: If you have creatures, you win the game". And costs only 3 mana.

If you are running Gruul then you can run a deck that is 22 land/30 creatures/ 8 other and his +1 is a coin flip for draw power. in a non-gruul it is still good, it just shifts to about 1 in 3 chance. I run him in my RG werewolf deck that is 22 creatures. i have got him out 3 times. i have drawn 4 out of 5 times. that better then I expected. Dint underestimate him.

Sooooooo much kickass.
I wonder if this is one of the reasons they decided to ban Bloodbraid Elf in Modern. The synergy is intense. Domri on the board can help you determine what you Cascade into when playing Bloodbraid; putting Bloodbraid on the board can net you a free Domri, who can turn the Bloodbraid into a Thunderclap.
Like all planeswalkers, he's not bad. Compared to most other planeswalkers though, he's not that good either.
The first ability will have a roughly one third chance of drawing you a card. And if it does, it also reveals the card, so your opponent knows what's comming (and can guess what's comming when you don't reveal it). And in two thirds of all cases, it does nothing.
The second ability is fine, albeit a bit narrow. To make good use of it, you'd need a creature that is larger than that of the opponent (ideally in both power and toughness, but at least having enough power for a kill). And the creature to kill must be worth it too. -2 is quite a cost for that ability.
The ultimate is of course great. It still requires you on having enough creatures in play (or on hand). Unlike the ultimates of a lot of other planeswalkers, this one has the risk of doing nothing at all. And requiring at least three more turns to get there, or four if you want to keep him alive after the ult, is quite some time.
So, he's good. He can draw cards, can kill creatures, and has a nice ult. But it's all a bit random and unreliable.

This walker works best with timing. If you're at a creature-for-creature standstill, you can plonk Vaas down, take out a key critter, then have him recurring card advantage and steadily sniping your opponents summons every third turn. However, he seems almost perfectly balanced, ergo not worth most people's time.

Everyone on here leaving walls of text on how "its not all that reliable and therefore not good" must not like drawing more cards. Even if you don't get to draw, you get free information. You get to plan your next turn knowing exactly what you're going to have in your hand. The fight ability is alright for removal, but he's easily best utilized by spamming +1. And he drops turn 3.

I have many a time dropped a turn 2 Boros Reckoner, Loxodon Smiter or even a Flinthoof Boar followed up by this guy. His -2 clears the way and allows you to smash in. If your creatures has nothing sitting across from it, in a creature heavy deck you +1 and have a great chance of drawing another creature to play the next turn. I love this guy!

Creature ramp is always a good thing, and he does it for free. Put him in a creature-intensive zoo deck with Dark Confidant. Domri and Bob actually have a good combo together. Domri draws a creature if he can, and if creatures are your only mana-expensive cards, chances are Bob won't see a creature and you won't lose as much life. If Domri sees a land, Bob does too and you lose no life. Just keep the noncreature spells cheap and it'll work out.

This boy has won me countless games. Say if you run 28-30 creatures, his +1 says draw half a card. Think of him like this: 1RG Enchantment, draw half a card every turn, and if this is the fourth turn since he came down, instead you win the game. This is pretty much Domri against your average control deck. Against aggro he's not stellar, but still pretty decent (drawing cards is good whoever you're facing). Domri + Boros Reckoner can wreck an aggro player's board. I've played him in decks with creature count as low as 22, and against many decks I still want to draw him.

I can see this being a thing in Naya Aura decks. Think about it, if you're doing well with that strategy, you have a big creature on the field, so the -2 is pretty much repeatable removal in Naya, which doesn't happen. His -8 is ridiculous, because as soon as you have a hexproof guy and you can make him big, it's GG from there. Adding in double strike and trample is just icing on the cake. And as always, the +1 is card advantage for days, which I will never turn down.
