I wish this card was Defender with a cost of 2WW. Otherwise, very nice combination of abilities.

Sandskin or Ghostly Possession (or other stuff with the same effect) and you're protected from combat damage (and so is your angel right here). Beware of spot removal in that kind of deck though (then again, in this set there's also Alpha Authority)

Spirit Mantle/Holy Mantle is better. That way, you can take advantage of the Guardian's increased power to kill the attackers.

There will be many times in a game where your only way to have a chance at winning is drawing this card. It'll stall a turn and most likely take out a threat or two.

Give this guy first strike and deathtouch and laugh at your opponent's "infinite" army, (Splinter Twin/Deciever Exarch etc...) then wait for the removal. (It's in Lightning Bolt range)
Or hexproof it too. With that many cards in one combo it's gotta be worth it right? Or realize you spent all that time preparing to have already lost. Awwwww yeah!
Though if you could Reanimate this guy... turn 2 or so he could defend a dredge onslaught. Buys a turn against an inevitable death when you shoulda just Leyline of the Void/other GY hate.
As far as standard goes, I like it. Can kill a Thragtusk (and a 1/1) or other x/3's without dying. I don't think it has impact at its mana cost but it can block 1/1's and 2/2's like a boss. Lingering Souls.

I love how both this and Holy Mantle are in the same set at uncommon. Drafts are going to be interesting.
I like the flavor behind this card. A Boros angel breaking her former allegiance to defend the oppressed.

Oh man, they're really pushing this gate thing poorly. The connection of the world to the Guildgates has been tenuous at best, in RtR only Armory Guard, Gatecreeper Vine and Ogre Jailbreaker cared about them in any way. Now in Gatecrash, the gate set I guess, we have Crackling Perimeter, Hold the Gates, Greenside Watcher, Gateway shade and Way of the Thief. So the only cards in Gatecrash that care about gates are part of a bland five color cycle. What have we learned about Guildgates? Well, they fix your mana while losing tempo. They... damage opponents, make creatures unblockable, larger, vigilant, able to attack with defender and pump your team. Well, alright, where are our karoos?
If this were Guardian of the Guildless, awesome! The body and skills have always been decent in Limited and the block ability could just save your life or wipe an army of Nightwing tokens. I like it, but the name is meh.

Completely skipped over this card when I went through Gatecrash. It's pretty good; up there with Serra Angel and Shepherd of the Lost, I'd say. Don't overlook the ability to block any number of creatures, it's very abusable *cough deathtouch cough*

This is an amazing uncommon for draft/sealed. Effective flyer, lets you stabilize, but not game-breaking. Truly outstanding design.
"I attack with my 50 1/1 goblin tokens!" "I block, the tokens die."
"I attack with my guardian of the gateless!" "I block with mine, only yours die."

This saved my skin so many times I can nary count suffice it to say that running this in conjunction with Ghostly Prison is practically cheating - they have to pay 2 for each attacking creature and if they do manage to get through, this will block every single one of them, possibly killing a few in the process.
I don't say stuff like this often, but this needs Holy Mantle to bring out maximum effectiveness
5/5 because it has: 1: reasonable cost 2: outstanding abilities 3: combat persistence 4: flying - it's versatile and versatility is good
... which makes it playable, effective, a rear guard of sorts that protects your flank.

So good with Swift Justice. Blocks anything, almost always wins and gains you a cajillion life. Never ever losing games with her up again.

This art may show her holding up a shield, but in practice, she is often holding up Medusa's visage.

I'd love to see this face off against a swarm of Dovescape doves.

this angel is not part of the boros guild you know #boroshate
