@ZEvilMustache: No, the problem is, destroying two lands by turn 7 at the earliest is not nearly as effective as, for example, Rith, the awakener's "you get an absurd number of saprolings".

Think about him in a land d deck. By the time you get him out, your opponent should only have a max of 4 lands. Let the destruction commence..

EDIT: so, me and my brother went to Wal-Mart to finally get ourselves some Commander boxes. The last two were this and Kaalia of the Vast. Decisions, decisions....
This guy is about as much fun to play AGAINST as a nuclear bomb. I ALMOST feel sorry for everybody's asses we've been kicking over the years....nah, not really. I'll just get a Numot Deck next time. I like how Numot, the Devastator is the only Wedge Dragon to strictly overshadow all the other Legends in his deck. It's not even close. Which new Legend is the biggest deal? I'm not sure...I'm also not sure that whoever it is would be all too thrilled about being matched against Numot. Everybody starts having problems when a Dragon decides to bite their balls off....:P

Numot, the Devastator is my general of choice because:
5) I can destroy 2 lands per turn when he's online and wearing the Lightning Greaves I tutored for with Muddle the Mixture. My first targets are Maze of Ith and their coolest dual. They never recover.
I really only resort to my general as a last option you see. The rest of the deck is just that good. However, sometimes, you just need to kill some lands.

I have a domain deck for multiplayer and this is my favourite finisher, thanks in no small part to the 4x Collective Restraint and 4x Global Ruin in the deck.
I heart Numot... and I especially heart dealing 6 damage to one opponent and then blowing up a land from two other, different opponents. :)

There's not exactly much in the ways of acceleration for white and blue. Red has some options, but you've got to be pretty lucky to draw into those cards at just the right time.
@ZEvilMustache
No, but destroying two lands IS fun, however. Remember, White and Red are best known for the ways they can get double strike; Assault Strobe, Concerted Effort, Double Cleave, Rage Reflection, Savage Beating, True Conviction, Psychotic Fury, Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion. Those are basically all of the really useful ones that red and white have access to (there's a handful of others, but they do nothing but grant double strike). Combine that with white and blue's various ways of getting creature's through (via unblockability or protection from their creatures), as well as the equipment that gives trample, and Numot's able to get two hits in with relative ease. It's just a matter of if you have the mana to pay for his ability twice. And to be honest, with that kind of fire power, if you're running him as your commander, you shouldn't really need to nuke their lands.
Which actually leads me to the problem with this guy. The other dragons have an effect that are better in my opinion; Oros can hit their field, so if he gets taken out, he's hit them for far worse. Teneb can bring back whatever's dead, which can seriously help you, and Intet, if you get the top of your deck just right, can let you get whatever spell you want for free, which could turn the tide (I'd say he's weaker than Oros or Teneb, but I'd still rather be able to play my top card for free), and Vorosh can end the game in less hits & works with Graft creatures easily. Ok, so hitting two land isn't bad, but compared to some of the damage the others can do? Especially when Oros shares the same 'double strike giving colors' as Numot and Intent and Vorosh share the 'unblockable' blue cards (as well as being able to trample thanks to green)? I think among the five dragons in the pre-cons, Numot is not the best.

My favorite trick when playing Numot (or his Planar Cousin) is to call out the 6 "components" that make up Devastator. "Scrapper!Mixmaster!Long Haul!Hook!Bonecrusher!Scavenger! Transform, PHASE TWO!" (Imagine this line in Frank Welker's Megatron voice.)

In a Numot, the Devastator EDH deck: T1- Plains, Sol Ring T2- Island, Grand Arbiter Augustin IV T3- Mountain, cast Numot T4- Razia's Purification, choose your Mountain, Sol Ring, and general. Attack and destroy some lands. T5 and on- Systematically destroy everyone's mana base over and over again preventing them from playing anything. Post-Game- Get beat to death in parking lot by your opponents.

out of all the legendary dragons, he's probably the one with the fewest drawbacks. I like playing esper colors but Dromar is pretty difficult to deal with and by the time you hard cast Crosis or Darigaaz your opponent probably wont have enough cards in hand to make a difference. Teneb and Treva are awesome. I guess Numot is just the most straightforward...

I understand that he is a mirror of the Invasion dragons which have combat damage triggers. But Destroying 2 lands per turn is just sick. If you attack with him and activate his ability turn 7 your opponent is down to 4 lands (assuming you are going first). Unless they have a board wipe next turn they are shut out of the game. This ability to take out 2 lands per activation is absurd. There is a reason that Magic has gone away from reprinting Stone Rain effects in Red. They want the Red player from being overly obnoxious and they actually want a more strategic game based on decision making. I am glad that Magic is become more mature and strategic for Red.
Perhaps not so fantastic in standard, but phenomenal in Scion EDH. In a format in which non-basic lands are critical and heavily played, this can be, as his name implies, truly devastating.
My friend has an incredibly annoying Numot EDH deck, and he is an amazing general. I find that one hit is often enough to take you out of the game, because each successive hit makes it harder to afford removal to kill it. While I am okay with occasionally playing a game against LD (they usually end pretty quickly), I do not like it at all in EDH, especially on such a powerful recurring engine as this. I have a Helldozer in my Mono-Black EDH deck, but I rarely use his ability for this exact reason

The problem is that running any kind of LD in EDH marks you as a massive dick to your entire playgroup. So running this guy as your commander will make everyone gang up on you from turn one.

1) I can run Sunforger into Double Negative.
2) I can run Avalanche Riders into Venser, the Sojourner.
3) I can recycle all of my Sunforged instants with Venser, Trinket Mage, and Elixir of Immortality.
4) I can go "Turn one Serra Ascendant, turn two Looter Il-Kor, turn 3 Jhoira of the Ghitu" and protect them with counterspells and force them through with burn.
5) I can destroy 2 lands per turn when he's online and wearing the Lightning Greaves I tutored for with Muddle the Mixture. My first targets are Maze of Ith and their coolest dual. They never recover.
