Their is a reason this is the cover card for the battle cry deck. Even alone the amount of damage and life cause this can cause is huge.

Mostly better than Windbrisk Raptor.

I like raptor better. It has a useful creature type and is just plain huge. And doesn't need to attack to grant lifelink. And has good art...
At least Dragons have Dragonspeaker Shaman and Dragonstorm. Demons have Blood speaker (and some other more crappy ogres.) Angels have nothing but people are still playing angel tribal decks, you see one every now and then. I say throw those nutjobs a bone and print an angel lord :D

Precon Rare... It's sad when this is almost synonym to bad.

A crippled True Conviction on a meager 4/4stick.
With CMC 6 it's overcosted.
Want a solid beater? Take Baneslayer Angel which comes a turn earlier and does more (First Strike! 1 more P/T).

The Lifelink and Flying only trigger while attacking and thus advocate over-extending. It does very very little on it's own like when you have a bad board position. And more important it's just a 4/4 flyer when defending. True Conviction is also helping when you are on the defense AND it's far stronger on the attack when combined with any creatures.
As mythic it would have been probably printed with 2WW Mana cost ;)

To be fair: I like the art.

Guys, I was at the prerelease last night & my 3rd round opponent was playing a really REALLY bad deck. On turn 6, I had 18 life & he had 9 life & 6 poison. My turn, I had 6 creatures to his 3, a 2/4 flier, two 1/1 myr, two 2/2's w/infect & a 6/6 after metalcraft & a c clasp for prolif. I swing with everyone. He blocks the 6/6, & both of the infected, he's down to 5 life. I prolif, he gets poison cntr #7 & loses a chump. His turn, he summons Herald & checks to me. My turn, I unsummon Herald, prolif & swing with everyone. He sacs a weenie to prevent most of the damage, shatters my clasp but not before he gets his 9th poison cntr & is also down to 1 health. His turn, summons accorder paladin & the herald, gives his creatures haste & swings with everything. I drop to 1 life point lose my infected creatures & he goes to 15. My turn, dead draw, swing for 5 & he wins the game. This card is a beast. Trust in that.

Triple White, mediocre angel body for 6cc, and ability that must wait 'til next turn makes it one of the worse angels in standart, and worst rare angel hands down. Well, at least it ain't mythic.
And that art looks like lame comic superhero... with one metal wing.

Give it Sword of Vengeance!

That nets you a non-legendar, standard legal, almost Akroma for 9cmc. Which isn't really that crazy. Especially if the sword's already been on the board for a few turns. I run singletons of both her and Sun Titan in my WW just in case it gets to the late game.

Herald + Sword of Vengeance + Armored Ascension made my Mono-Red friend very sad. Having said that...a 1/1 with Sword of Vengeance and Armored Ascension ends the game just as easily; only without preposterous amounts of life gain.

wait, how is this below a 4 star at the time of my writing. I want all the people who gave this below a 3.5 to play against her (or him?), then come back on here, and up your effing rating on this lovely. :)

Most of the people who don't like this are probably thinking "blah blah blah BANESLAYER ANGEL blah blah."
The only problem is baneslayer is a $40 card, and who can afford that?

Not half bad. Arguably half mediocre, but not half bad.

This guy can indeed seriously turn a game around full circle.

I played my first booster draft last night, and I won my second round because of him.

I had about 6 life left, with maybe 4-5 poison counters, and my opponent had about 16 life with 0 poison. On the field, I had Kemba's Legion, Victory's Herald, and I had just summoned Flameborn Hellion. I then cast Assault Strobe on my Hellion, and then attacked with all three. He had nothing with flying or reach.

Like I said, full circle.

Naw, you kids got this all wrong. If it works in EDH or limited, great. But this baby was designed for Two-headed Giant. Note that she doesn't just grant your creatures flying and lifelink. She also does some solid work against Archenemies.

Victory's Herald is not a bad card, but it is not going to win the game on its own the way other recent white power-cards can (e.g. Baneslayer Angel, Sun Titan, Hero of Bladehold).

I think its real strength is not its giving your creatures lifelink, but giving them flying. If you and your opponent have become deadlocked with strong board positions on both sides, then this effect can turn the tides completely. It is unlikely that your opponent will have enough flying creatures to avoid taking major damage, and the lifelink component means that you probably won't have to fear any lethal counterattacks.

Of course, you need to have a relatively strong board position to make use of those effects, so I can definitely see how it might seem like a strictly "win more" card for aggro decks that will probably already have a huge advantage by the time they can muster the 3WhiteWhiteWhite required for Victory's Herald. Furthermore, its lack of haste means that your opponent has a whole turn to respond to the massive threat.

Well, the latter problem can be easily solved by Swiftfoot Boots or Lightning Greaves, or even Strider Harness. A Baneslayer Angel isn't going to win you the game if it gets killed before it loses summoning sickness either.

As for the former problem regarding requiring a good board position, the "solution" is a little complicated. Basically, the usefulness of Victory's Herald will vary with the metagame. If creature-control decks and single-creature-threat decks fade from the spotlight a bit, then the board positions in matches will generally be a lot more robust, making Victory's Herald a much better play than it is in Type-II at the moment. I'm reminded of a time not too long ago when Naya mid-range creature aggro was a powerhouse; decks like that competing against each other could be stalemated with tons of creatures out on both sides. More recently, the case may be similar for GreenWhite tokens; Victory's Herald could provide a huge advantage in the mirror match.

Other than Windbrisk Raptor, Victory's Herald actually reminds me of Battlegrace Angel. However, I'm not sure it compares favorably, since Battlegrace Angel provides its bonuses immediately, is a little more capable of winning the game on its own, and comes out at least one turn earlier (depending on how long it takes to get the third White for Victory's Herald). Sure, its effect isn't quite as massive, but it is, overall, much more independent. As such, I sort of think Victory's Herald should have cost 2WhiteWhiteWhite. That would make it especially good as a next-turn follow-up to a fourth or fifth turn Hero of Bladehold equipped with Swiftfoot Boots.

Then again, True Conviction is almost certainly better, at least until people start main-decking instant-speed enchantment removal (e.g. Naturalize) over sorcery-speed removal (e.g. Oblivion Ring) and instant-speed creature-kill (e.g. Doom Blade).

@Lorendorky: You sound a bit scorned. Yes, a lot of the cards in this set can be played well in Commander (EDH), but if the set has any issues it's not because of any cards built with Commander / EDH in mind. If anything it's a Timmy Angel for Angel lovers. It's a fun card for casual, which in no way means it sucks just because it won't be played by competitive types.

@Artan: I'm a Timmy, and I love Angels, and hate most Wurms. So, yes, some Timmies do like Angels.

Although I want to get the art altered, because it's some of my least favorite Angel art in MtG.

Levitation is 2BlueBlue to give your entire army flying. This also adds lifelink and a 4/4 body. I think it is appropriately costed when considering balance, but it needs to be stronger when considering powercreep.

Putting all your creatures in the air is devastating, it allows you to just attack in with everything. And giving them lifelink puts you ahead so that when your opponents start attacking into you because they are like, oh crap, we gotta kill him, you will have some extra life to offset that. Not an obviously good card, so it won't get blown up immediately like most good cards, but when people start to catch on your probably so ahead that they won't be able to recover anyways. Much like turn 1 serra ascendant, this will have a major impact on your life total for the majority of the game. And in limited having just a 4/4 flying lifelinker on it's own is really good. This is easily 1st pick material.
