This is absolutely sick in multiplayer. We played a 3 player free-for-all and one of us sacrificed 5 zombies to a phyrexian ghoul to pump him and remove all other creatures on the board, including some bombs like Verdant Force and Broodstar. Sick!

Damn straight wicked card. It sure eats the guy playing green to have to sacrifice his Kalonian Behemoth just because my 2/1 zombie went to the gravey.

Doomgape+ Creakwood Liege+ Grave Pact + Deathrender= LOL

12/12 Doomgape
+3 Life at every beginning of your upkeep
The opponent has to sacrifice a creature whenever you sacrifice a creature (3/3 green worm)
Whenever you sacrifice a creature, you may play any creature from hand for the cost of 2

Cons:
-High cost
-Greakwood Liege may be easily killed/destroyed and your combo is broken

This is sorta being reprinted as Butcher Of Malakir from Worldwake.

I like this better than the Butcher of Malakir. It is way more affordable, and I prefer my late game cards to be a bit more flashy than Butcher of Malakir..

If both you and your opponents have one out, it's assured mutual destruction! (Barring tokens, of course)

(Card Rating: 4.0) Grave Pact is always a pleasure to play in a multiplayer format. If your oponent's do not have an answer for an enchantment in thier hand, any strategy they have involving even the most sturdy of creatures (i.e. Progenitus) will be fruitless. In light of the hefty 3 black mana required to cast it, Grave Pact is a rather difficult card to splash. Because having more than one in your hand equates to a dead card, Grave Pact makes my list of superb "one of's". Since you will be already running black, I recommend Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor to make it seem like you are running three in your deck. If you are on a budget, Diabolic Tutor will suffice. In my favorite casual black/red goblin deck, I run 1 Grave Pact along with... 4 Mogg War Marshal, 2 Goblin Chirurgeon, 2 Skirk Prospector, and 1 Tuktuk the Explorer to ensure fodder plus an instance speed FREE sac. engine. I also run 1 Goblin Warrens to 99% ensure an opponent will NOT have a creature on the board! A Phyrexian Tower also works well to supply the sacrifice engine and black mana needed. On a side note, the artwork for the 8th edition version is fantastic. Check it out! (Posted By: Misago)

I love this card. It allowed me to beat an emrakul, the aeons torn two turns in a row. My friend hates me now cause of it.

It That Betrays, Bloodthrone Vampire. Sac any creature, opponents sac creatures, you sac those creatures, clear the board and get like a 17/17 or more vampire attacking. Not to mention the freakin 11/11 Annihilator 2

This + Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker + something like Festering Goblin + Pawn of Ulamog. (The Pawn tokens don't come back, but you've probably board wiped anyway.) And of course something akin to Bloodthrone Vampire.

This + Abyssal Gatekeeper makes no one want to attack you. Throw an Innocent Blood into the equation and your opponents sac 4

Ooo Gave Pact + Tombstone Stairwell

End of turn all zombie tokens die ... Your opponents must sacrifice cards = to tokens lost. Board wipe most enemy Decks lol.

Best Sac Trap card period.

Butcher of Malakir costs quite a bit more, but at the same time it only requires opponents to sacrifice rather than all players, so it becomes more applicable in team based multiplayer games. Not only this, but if Grave Pact gets disenchanted, it just leaves, whereas if butcher gets destroyed, his death triggers his own effect.

Even with these two caveats, I still say grave pact is better. But butcher i find to be an acceptable Standard alternative.

Grave Pact + Mortuary = Great combo.

Wow, sometimes powercreeps goes the other way, this is vastly superior to butcher of malakir, if they reprinted this, any black player would stack 4 of these without a second thought. This is creature advantage that really makes the opponent have a bad day, and most decks have no way of getting rid of enchantments (honestly, what's a black mage to do against enchantments?).

Such a great card with absolutely no drawbacks. There is no excuse for not having one in any sacrifice deck. 5/5

i may have missed one but im suprised no one has mentioned eldrazi tokens with this card. i made a black and red deck with eldrazi token generators and four of these cards in it. its like a killing machine! sacrifice my tokens for mana and guess what? now u have to kill one of your creatures or several (depending how many i have out). imagine sacking like ten eldrazi tokens for ten mana then tapping a red for a bane fire...then reverberating it....yep...thats likely end game...especially with hostility out...and yes i've done it several times with this deck :P ....just sayin this card is really underrated

It that Betrays, your Eldrazi spawn and this.

You sacrifice for say, 5 mana, they sacrifice 5 creatures and you gain them creatures.

Darkest Hour + Braids, Cabal Minion + Teysa, Orzhov Scion + This= dirty nasty things for your opponents, as you will be getting a token every time you sacrifice on to Braids, and each opponent looses one in addition to the permanent sacrificed to Braids on their turns.

Oh Grave Pact, how you deserve to be a 5. This card basically reads: if you remove my creatures, you're giving me card advantage. If I sacrifice my creatures in a non-card-disadvantageous way, I'm giving myself card advantage. If I'm doing something fundamental to my deck - like saccing Eldrazi spawns or playing Fleshbag Marauder - with this out, I'm giving myself card advantage. If I play creatures with persist, I'm giving myself major card advantage.

And seeing as it hits everyone, it works just as well in multiplayer. If you're a casual gamer and can afford to, get a playset and throw them in black decks, making people cry. ^^ Even the simplest of combos - something like Reassembling Skeleton and Bloodthrone Vampire - becomes 1B: Bloodthrone Vampire gets +2/+2 and each opponent sacrifices a creature. That's a hell of an effect for 2 mana!

The only downside is the triple black, but hopefully that'll encourage people to play black (or go 2 color with mostly duals).

@ Misago:

Additional Grave Pacts are not dead draws. They just allow you to get more carnage per sacrifice. This is just broken with Eldrazi Spawns. It makes softcasting a Hand of Emrakul into a bloodbath.

This card is not only a beast on its own, but it turns several cards' "downsides" into great advantages. Vivisection? Fleshbag Marauder? Hand Of Emrakul (already mentioned). Build around this, peeps!

the quintessential black enchantment. if you are playing creatures and your opponent has this out, you must get rid of it, or you will most likely lose. game changing card like that is 5/5

pretty crazy if both you and your opponent EACH have one of these out.

@ Artscrafter: The best sac engine (that's in standard) would probably be Piston Sledge.

Anyway, this is a decent card. Maybe the new undying creatures from Dark Ascension could go well with this card. I suppose if you ran mono-black, which you'd kind of have to do anyway to run this, Geralf's Messenger would be nice.

This IS A Very Exciting Card To Play In Edh But I Dont Think That It Would Be Very Good In Modern Unless You Infinite Sac With This.
