I love Lord of the Pit ^-^ with Breeding Pit
if only I had a Bitterblossom or a Token generator like this:

(B) Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a
Black Rose - Creature Token (Black) – Thrull Plant - 0/1
(Defender.) (T, Sacrifice Black Rose: Add B to your mana pool.)

good luck in everything to all ^-^... bye.
Demia JOR time.

Everyone should know the combos to this card.

Great card, the upkeep is a bit of a pain. Still, very useful for providing a non-stop flow of black creatures to be sacrificed to various spells and beasts. Try it with Soul Exchange and watch your armies come back to life even stronger than before!

The original art - for this card, the best art. As to combos, there are a couple of cards that remove your upkeep phase, Doubling Season makes more lovely Thrulls, and, yea, all the other combos as well.

Great card to go with creature sacrifice. I like it with fallen angel and thrull champion..

A little overpowered there, Demiajor? Awakening zone is your answer to that, except that it costs (2G) instead of (B), and the eldrazi spawn make colorless mana. And it's still kinda broken.

Great art. A card that was almost intended for Lord of the Pit alone.

No Doubt one of the few overwhelmingly useful cards from Fallen Empires, even more impressive, one of the ONLY cards reprinted after the fact, lol. And we must always remember Fallen Empires will forever be remembered as the birth Set of the two most prolific unique creature types of the game. Thrulls, and Saporlings! To be reprinted, and expanded upon in card after card through just about every set made since;) But as for this card, it is the first part of the best MTG player pick up line ever..."hey baby, want to come to my Breeding Pit and see my Shivan Dragon?"

Of course in the old days, wherever this was, Lord of the Pit and/or Minion of Leshrac wasn't far behind. For today? Hm...

Doubling Season + Mass Polymorph. You can quit paying the upkeep after you're done with this. Sure, a G/B/U deck would be an odd combo, but if it works, do it. Then you can throw in all kinds of big, high-mana cost creatures in trade for all the tokens. Just don't put a Phage the Untouchable in there.

For all the beating its reputation has taken over the years, a fair bit of Fallen Empires stuff combos nicely with newer stuff like proliferate and Doubling Season.

Surpassed by more modern cards, yet still not that bad if you have the mana to spend. Sure, Bitterblossom, Awakening Zone, etc. are better, but this card can also fill a role in some crazy Commander deck that needs lots of tokens.

A perfect fit with Ebon Praetor.

This art is flabbergasting.
This card is flavorful in the Fallen Empires story and was amazing at the time: the best black fatties had upkeep BlackBlack.
Nowadays it is considered a very normal thing to have creature breeding, or FREE creature breeding AND MANA BOOST. It's free food for giant monsters... Oops, I forgot that giant monsters don't have drawbacks anymore, or children cry and stamp their feet...

I'm sitting reading the comments for what people use with this card. And it's like reading the black section of my brother's G/B sacrifice deck.
Breeding pits, Lord of the Pit, Ebon Praetor, Minion of Leshrac, death pit offering, soul exchange and even hectacomb.
...
That deck annihilates me so much...
Thrulls and thallids should not unite...

A great card in it's day, and still extremly useful to this day.

Wtih fecundity, the corner stone of that deck.

4/5.

A laudable combo card that allowed so many early sacrifice-based decks to work. I recall using it myself in a green-black deck that used Skullclamp (yeah, I know) and various other cards that required sacrifices. Pretty much outclassed, nowadays, but it's still not BAD and worth playing if you can't get your hands on any alternatives.

It has one advantage over Awakening Zone, and that's how it interacts with Teysa, Orzhov Scion or Savra, Queen of the Golgari. Suddenly, each thrull has "when this creature dies, turn it into a 1/1 white flier, or pay 2 life and each opponent sacrifices a creature."
